Its called profit margin. They make about 8 cents on every dollar they spend. So if they spent $1 for a gallon of gas in 2000 they made 8 cents now if they spend $2 they make .16 cents. Their profit margin has not changed.
Ok,so you honestly believe they only make 8 cents on the dollar for a gallon of gas? What do you believe is there profit on the rest of the barrel of oil?
Why is Comcast in a big lawsuit with the NFL?
NFL Network. I believe it's something like the NFL has alleged that Comcast moved the NFL Network to a less accessible digital tier after the NFL didn't give 8 games to Comcast's Versus channel and instead gave it to NFL Network.

the nfl wanted comcast to put it where ever they would get the most viewers, at the least cost. comcast is saying that since your charging me, to run to your program, im putting it in a sports package. where i can recoup my profit

Well in that case NFL Network should be punished. Especially since they decided to broadcast and NFL Films special on high school football instead of the Bears vs Redskins. And for the record I don't have Comcast, well at least not at college.
Ok so they find out that the Pats did cheat. What can they do?
They can do a number of things... take away the super bowl trophy, take away more draft picks, financial repercussions... who knows, but I don't think that the league can have something that MLB is going through happen to them without a fall out from the fans... or atleast I hope some fal out from the fans.
What else is going on for them to spend time on? It's not like there's a pointless war going on or a flailing economy or record foreclosures going on.. Geez, some people are so clueless! ;)

Seriously though, if they were going to waste time on something frivolous, I wish it was spent on ending the writers strike earlier. Having to wait another year for '24' to come back is just un-damn-American!!
Yea im kinda waiting for Prison Break to return so i have some entertainment to keep me interested until football season

Why should the NFL Network be punished? NFL broadcasts are not a right. We've been accustomed to them being over the air for free, but 25 years ago championship boxing was on network television, not pay per view or HBO. It's their league, they can do with broadcast rights what they want to. If people don't like it, they have 3 options-get DirecTv, go to a sports bar or STFU and quit bitching about it.

Profit margine is incorporates all asspects of their business. I'm sure they loose money in some areas and make larger profits in others. The bottom line is they make around 8 cents on the dollar.

It's actually around $.10 every year. Doesn't invalidate your point - just being accurate. The point is that the oil companies are maintaining their profit margins because we, as a society, have created a demand that allows them to maintain those margins. It is a bit of a cartel, since there are no alternatives presently.

Steriods are illegal but I'm not sure if breaking a rule of the NFL is considered illegale by law. My question was not what the NFL could do to the Pats but what congress could do to the pats. I don't think they broke the law only NFL rules which the NFL is responsable for not congress.

Congress cannot and will not do anything which directly affects the Patriots. Congress can, however, affect the entire NFL by attacking their exemption from antitrust laws. The antitrust exemption allows the NFL to negotiate television contracts on behalf of all teams, rather than forcing each team to do so individually. So, Congress can put pressure on Goodell to punish the Pats or face the loss of the antitrust exemption.

In any case, this is a dead issue barring new evidence of cheating. The NFL wants the matter to go away. The fans are, for the most part, bored with this issue. The Pats have been punished and that's that.

Comcast sucks so bad it's not even funny. I'm so glad they're not getting my business anymore.

That was the day I said enough of Comcast. They tried to charge me more $ for the NFL Netowrk. But what pissed me off was they tried to hide it with some bullshit package with networks they already gave you in the first place. Total bullshit. I'd rather they just be honest with me and tell me why they are charging me more money. Bastards. They're losing subscribers to Verizon every single day.
