You make people want to break every rule about valuing other opinions, and no personal attacks.
LOL 'explain football', like he's some sort of football professor or something. Please. Personally I find it hard to explain anything to ignorant, closed-minded, negative fools. Just leave them to sulk in their own misery and let them continue to think they are some sort of expert since all they do is constantly shit on the team. |

Re: First and goal on the one yard line, what would you do?
Im not an NFL coach, I dont get paid Millions of dollars to make these decisions, and with Joe Gibbs calling those plays I would have said 9 times out of 10 we would make it in. We didnt, it happens, the Giants played great in the second half and we choked, but there is no reason to start a thread based on woulda, coudla, shoulda. Theres a reason Gibbs has a bust in the hall of fame, he knows what hes doing, sometimes it doesnt work, but how many teams have gone undefeated in the Superbowl era? Thats right, 1

You continually make personal attacks not on occasion but daily, any one who says something you don't like, or agree with gets a healthy does of basically your an idiot in one form or another from you, lets face it you think your the big dog around here when it comes to the skins, and if I thought for one second you had remotely any real valued football knowledge I would say it regardless of how I would feel personally towards you or any one else for that matter, but your not even close. Your a little dog with a big bark. It's funny you say to respect opinions constantly, but not when it comes to a criticism of the Skins, why? Because any one who has criticized the Skins under Gibbs has been for the most part right since his return, it is frustrating because I want to win as much as any body, but the fact is we are not on the right track, he is not progressing as a coach, we are seeing the same exact problem now that we saw in 2004, nothing has been fixed other than sitting Brunell, the game has long passed him by and many can't admit it, that doesn't mean I am not going to root for him, it just means I see the same problems cropping up that we have seen in the past and we all know what that leads to. The fact is any one who watched that game on Sunday saw the same garbage we saw on opening day against Tampa in 2004, we all scratched our heads and wondered why gibbs stopped pushing the ball in the second half keeping Tampa in the game? Well here it is 4 seasons later and he's still doing the exact same thing and you can't see it, you keep expecting him to some how come out and be the coach who rolled up the score on team after team in 92' well it ain't happening unless he removes himself from all aspects of the offense! With the talent we have on offense especially in the passing game coupled with the horrid Giants defense the fact that we didn't score 40 plus points is a joke, the Giants don't have a player on their team who can cover any one of our WR's, and their LB's cant come close to covering Cooley, and we did nothing in the second half, if that doesn't scream Gibbs and his coaching ability I don't know what will? |
Re: First and goal on the one yard line, what would you do?
From JLC,
"Anyway, we all know the Redskins have choked away their fair share of games since this staff took over in 2004. So I got to thinking how they stood up with other teams, and well, as in the overall W/L record the last 15 years or so, their company ain't pretty. According to Elias, since 2004 the Redskins have 11 losses when leading at the half, which puts them ... worst in the NFL. Oakland (11) and Houston (10) are the only other teams with double-digit loss totals when leading at the half since Gibbs came back to the NFL. Overall, Washington is a mediocre 15-11 in 26 games when leading at the half since 2004. The Redskins used to be the team that got a lead and battered opponents like no one else in the game; now it's the opposite. The rosters aren't nearly as good, the front office not nearly as sound, and say what you will of ownership, game-day coaching decisions, etc.as you consider what this stat means, and what it points to. offiss is the football man, tough to compete with that.
Funny that he thinks someone else has an overblown opinion of their football knowledge. |

Re: First and goal on the one yard line, what would you do?
The standard sequence when you are that close should be run pass run. Given the clock I would have gone pass run pass but, they nearly scored on first run and decided to take a chance. I don't know why everyone is so focused on the offense. The defense's inability to play pass defense is the only thing that causes me concern at this point. We will always give up big yards when we rush four and play zone. It looked like a repeat of last year in the second half.
Now, I will go back to my bye week. Everyone relax. |
Re: First and goal on the one yard line, what would you do?
QB keeper with the option to pass.

Re: First and goal on the one yard line, what would you do?
Big perspective on first and goal at the one,..... yes we are all sad that they did not get in, but to win the game, they would have not only needed to get in, but make the extra point and then score again in OT.
The OT situation was a fortunate situation against the Dolphins, but the Skins could have very easiy lost in OT to the Giants this past weekend. A TD last week was not for the win, but for a tie and a CHANCE in OT. Again, only a CHANCE. The Football Gods, (as TMQ would call them), decided that the Skins played too bad in the second half to deserve the win, so they saved us the sadness of losing in OT, and just gave it to us early! |
Re: First and goal on the one yard line, what would you do?
Roll out pass to cooley !!
|
Re: First and goal on the one yard line, what would you do?
Play fake to Betts, float Cooley in the corner. TD!
|
Re: First and goal on the one yard line, what would you do?
Goal line plays:
1ST DOWN: Spread the field w/ three wr's and just Sellers in backfield. Sellers crashes down on the right side and Campbell follows him in (because like others have said NY PREDICTED we would go left). 2ND DOWN: I-formation w/ Portis following Sellers to the left, but it's a fake and ARL sweeps from left to right going wide for a TD run. 3RD DOWN: Clock could be way down so it probably has to be a pass. Something play action to Betts w/ a corner shot to Cooley. 4TH DOWN: Honestly, I can't see it going this far. Get the ball to CP and let him sniff out the goal line. |
Re: First and goal on the one yard line, what would you do?
it's just one loss. stop acting like the season is over.
