As if the Skins won't have a boulder on their shoulder after being swept last year?

Bring on the chippy shoulders.
The "What if" game is ridiculous and really shouldn't be considered. Things could always have played out differently, but ultimately, they didn't. That same logic that catapults us to two blow out victories could be done conversely, and we're 0-2.

What if Chris Chambers, and Miami's new TE from Green Bay didn't have stone hands? What if Ronnie Brown had actually lived up to his #2 pick status and broken some tackles? What if Zach Thomas was actually still as good as he's hyped up to be and wasn't folded up every time he tried to tackle? The Skins could've lost that game.

What if "White Lightning" Kevin Curtis was actually fast enough to outrun our secondary or wasn't afraid of Laron Landry's thunderous hits? What if Donovan McNabb trusted his receivers more to make plays? What if Andy Reid decided to run Brian Westbrook down our throats? What if Lito Sheppard had played the game? What if Brian Dawkins didn't get laid out by Todd Yoder? Well, the Skins could've lost that game.

Now, wasn't that a waste of time? :tongue
Concur, you could "What IF" yourself to death over any game.

What if Cooley and Moss had capitalized?

What if McNabb had converted all of those bad throws?

Either way the outcome is affected.

It is the here and now that matters. I think the Redskins are starting a momentum push and that the Giants will start the season 0-4.

I think it should be 9-28, and I also think Springs better have his ass out there for the whole game. I think this will be a key match up with Burress if were playing a lot of man coverage. We have yet to face a big physical reciever like him yet and I don't think Smoot or Rogers can get the job done there. Gonna be a lot of jump balls and fades thrown his way.

The point of the what-if game isn't to say we didn't deserve to win. The point is to illustrate that the margin of victory was slim in both games, based on what ACTUALLY happened.

FACT: We got taken to overtime by Miami.

FACT: The Eagles were at our 6 yard line with one minute to play.

We made key plays and got the wins, which is great. But we didn't blow them out. Hence I don't envision a blowout against NYG, I envision a hard-fought battle. I'll bet you a million dollars Joe Gibbs will tell you the same thing, and he truly believes it.

A Skins win 24-20; we'll win because our QB is a little more level-headed than theirs, and our coaching staff is 20 times better than theirs.

Bottom line is, in my opinion, our offense matches up better against their defense, than their offense matches up against our defense.

I can see them moving the ball on us, but I don't see them finishing drives or making really big plays.

I can see us methodically moving the ball on them, finishing drives, and making the occasional big play.

It could turn out to be a dominating win for the Skins, barring any stupid mistakes.

But, being a divisional game, it's hard for me to call a blowout...chances are it will be close and the home team comes out on top.

I think you can break this game down pretty easily.

We obviously have the better defense, but their passing offense is superior.
If we look at the QB position I think it can really go either way with Eli. One day he is amazing next day he just sucks. But right now our run game is pretty good compared to theirs. So I am not sure which offense really is better. I would think we are more balanced and developing in a positive way.

But beside that we are better coached, better defense, and coming off two wins. So our confidence is higher as well. Along with home field, all this adds up to favor the Skins.

Redskins 24
Giants 17

Carlos Rogers has a football dematerialize on approach, pass through his chest, and re-materialize behind him whilst he waves his arms at thin air.

On a more serious note, I see 150 yards on the ground, about 250 through the air for Campbell. I also think Eli will get 300+ through the air, a pair of TDs to Shockey/Buress and an INT, but their running game will be ineffective and their D will get pretty well ripped up.

Possibly even a bigger day for Campbell & Co. if the Giants secondary is really that bad.
Or if Moss didn't have those drops against Miami, we could have extended some drives and blown them out.

People seem to only play the "what if" game when it comes to negatively looking at the Skins. Fact is we can play the what if game all day from all angles, fact is the Skins are 2-0 and that's all that really matters.
True, but you have to admit that all 2-0 teams are not equal. You have to take into account the strength of the opponent, the score, just how the game played out. "What if" can certainly play both ways, and honestly I think it HELPS to play it both ways when it comes to analyzing an upcoming game.

On a separate but related note, I had a chance to watch the Miami - Dallas game last night and up until the end of the 3rd quarter, into the 4th, it was very close, with Miami leading I think into the 3rd. It was honestly a very similar game to when we played Miami. A defensive struggle with a few scoring plays here and there. The real difference it seemed was that in the 4th quarter Dallas had almost the same scoring / turnover opportunities that we had, except they capitalized on them when we did not.
