Re: Who is available next year (qb)?
How so?
We have had one constant issue since our previous super bowls...lack of a decent QB.
Rich Gannon, Brad Johnson, and Trent Green have all played here since then. Not all were in the prime of their careers, but it's not like we haven't had that kind of talent. Brunell is right up there with those guys in terms of career production. |
I can only think of 5 Notre Dame QBs. Theismann, Montana, Pawlus, Mirer, and Tony Rice (I think that was his name). Beyond the first two, I don't know how great a track record that really is. I'm probably missing a bunch of QBs though
Jarious Jackson was on the Broncos for many a season, too.
Yeah I remember you. Good to see you back! Hope you're doing well.
Thanks. I figured you of all people would remember me. You're pretty much the only one I remember from this site and was wondering how you were doing as well. I'm doing fine. I still live in this hell hole called Carlsbad, New Mexico. I've been trying to get out for at least 4 years. Just can't find my wife a job at all. I did change my career last year, I now manage a Chili's restaurant. Quite a change for a guy with an MBA in finance and working in the banks. I'm not sure I made the right choice. But that's what life is all about...taking chances and learning from mistakes. Due to my career choice, I can't be online a lot, but I do visit this site about once a day now. I missed the Redskins talk. |
It's good to have you back on the board. I can't imagine what you went through. That's rough stuff
Yeah, it was and still is rough stuff. My wife almost died through the whole ordeal too. She still has some issues left over from then, but she's almost back to where she was. That's life I guess. Either you dwell on it and let it run your life, or you move forward. Thanks, it's good to be back! |

Well, we got Rich Gannon before he "got it". I think we all remember saying "what?" after we got rid of Trent Green, then the next day we picked up Brad Johnson. Johnson had a hell of a season and was run out of town when Snyder was in his "no patience" phase. Luckily, Snyder has come out of that. My wife still gives me a hard time about Johnson. When he first came on the scene in Washington I said he would win a super bowl. I was right, but wrong team. Alrighty guys, see you tomorrow, it's off to work. |
Re: Who is available next year (qb)?
Matt Shaub, UFA, Atl. Falcons
Chris Simms, UFA, Tampa Bucs I am suprised to see Simms have such a horrible start to this year. During the end of last season I think he showed good leadership and made good decisions, even his poor choice to scramble against us and wave on one of our guys to taunt that he is up to the fight. That was about as stupid as Matt Hasselback at the coin toss in overtime saying we want the ball, were are going to win-then his first pass is picked off and sent for a TD. Simms I think will develop into a fine quarterback. Schaub I dont know, Atl is such an odd group to judge, I never have my fingered on where the talent on that team is, defensively they are stacked but the passing game only was working it seemed with Schaub in there. On a side question how the hell can Atlanta be so successful in their run game???? We need some of that. |
Re: Who is available next year (qb)?
I tell you who is my favorite QB in the league is :NY Giants Lorenzen, I think he is 6'5" 280, all fat, but has a canon of an arm. Its just an inspiration to see a guy built like a Fridge repairman that hangs out at the bar all night be a QB in the league.
In the Madden game he is the 2nd lowest QB of all the league. Once again my eye for talent is validated. Its a gift. |
Re: Who is available next year (qb)?
We trade our first round pick for Kurt Warner. This is the Redskins we are talking about!:)

Re: Who is available next year (qb)?
lol - good one!
Thanks! Nobody on that list jumps out at me. Simms I think had a flukey year last year (and it wasn't that great), King had one decent year, but that was with the Bucs like 7 years ago, Ramsey we know is out. I think Rattay never got a true shot in SF (he had a couple of half-seasons), so he might be interesting to check out. Didn't Wright miss a couple of seasons entirely? I don't know about the rest - is anyone a prospect?
shaub jumps out if you know NFL football well |

Re: Who is available next year (qb)?
this thread is lame. Campbell is the future for at least the next 2 seasons. Administrators you should lock this thing up.

I agree that Campbell is the future and we are unlikely to bring in/trade for a high-priced quarterback. I also think it's way too early to start discussing next offseason's moves. That said, this thread has elicited enough interest to draw a lot of replies so it's apparently worth keeping open. |
Re: Who is available next year (qb)?
if we go get someone else, and its not just a back up role...then this organization is run by a bunch of idiots
I am inclined to agree with your assesment, based on all the investment in JC it wouldn't seem logical the team would be looking for anything in a QB that was not of the back-up variety. At some point we must see what Campbell can do, and we can't just dismiss him without giving him that opportunity. |
I also think it's way too early to start discussing next offseason's moves.
What? Come on, we as Redskins fans always analyze and over analyze every little detail. We are also some of the most well informed fans in all the country, we get that way by thinking ahead, even if the team we loves does not. However, I do guarantee that someone in the Redskins orginization has asked the exact same question I have posed. |

The ones who make it...make it big. Only Theismann and Montana were even concidered NFL prospects as far as I can remember(so 2 out of 2 were GREAT...thats a 100% track record)...next year Quinn will join them...how did the first two work out? No other ND QB's were looked at as NFL prospects. Quinn will be a star in the NFL because he has all the tools and has been running an NFL Offense the past two seasons playing for an established NFL Offensive Guru. He may come into the NFL more ready to go than any QB ever IMO. Remember Charlie Weis groomed Tom Brady...how did that work out? I want Campbell to succeed foresure, I think he will and doubt we'll ever get anywhere near drafting Quinn because Quinn will go top 5 but Quinn will make an impact IMO and it wont take three years to happen. |
