Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Wait till a contending team has a T get hurt, they’ll pay. If Houston gave a 3rd rounder for a RB (Duke Johnson) why can’t the skins get a 1st rounder or more.
My concern is neither party will budge. Williams seems adamant about not playing for us anymore and the team seems adamant about not trading him. I don't trust Allen with a situation this tenuous. Just a poor distraction prior to the season starting, but it is what it is.
The lack of faith in Allen is well placed. But I really do think this is a hard one to screw up. In a game of chicken, Allen is in a mack truck worth $21M and Trent's in a sedan. In the trade market, there are three vultures competing over one body. |

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Zimmerman had a streak of not missing a game for 5 straight seasons before he was traded. Trent plays 75% of the time these days, huge difference. Zimmerman played 5 more years for the Vikings, nobody would project that out of Trent.

Thanks for these precisions, I was 5 back then so didn't know much more than what Sheehan and Schefter said about it. Good point, but I still think anything less than a 1st would be 100% unacceptable.
I was 35 back then and have collected a lot of concussions and don't sleep well, so I often double check my memory with Pro Football Reference. I know Trent's history with missing games. I just remember Zimmerman as a perennial Pro Bowler and iron man type that did not miss games and had a long career. I got the exact info by looking it up. |
Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
New England is probably out predictably:
https://nesn.com/2019/08/trent-williams-rumors-patriots-arent-expected-to-pursue-star-tackle/ I think Houston is going to need to pony up the 1st rounder. Interested to see what Miami would offer or if any other teams have legitimate interest. |

How long do you wait for that to happen? A lot of 300+ pounders are known for not being fond of conditioning. The longer Trent sits the more likely he will drift further and further from game shape. |

Yay for the player Nay for the contract, but he would make our D a legit top 5 |

AD on Trent "When you are missing your best player on the team, the whole team will feel it"

There are some red flags with clowney with giving him a monster deal. It makes me pause |

I disagree. When has Trent ever been out of shape? He has always been a dedicated player and a leader. |
Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
What would the front 7 look like with Clowney? We just drafted Sweat in the 1st.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Out in left field i see a 3 way trade where houston gets TW and another teams 3rd we get Houstons 2nd and another teams 1st or 2nd, and the other team gets Clowney

It would be the best PASS RUSH in football with the inside attack. |
