Re: Media Bias
Washington Post maybe in its worst shape ever
Sally Buzbee lasted almost 3 year. Pretty embarrassing “We are losing large amounts of money. Your audience has halved in recent years. People are not reading your stuff. I can’t sugarcoat it anymore,” Lewis said. Democracy does in darkness….lololol how much until that is removed? |
Re: Media Bias
This one is not so much bias, but this type of bullshit hyperbole in this story is becoming more and more common and it does sway people. This click bait MSN story's, from this morning, headline.
"Japan fires at Russian jets in its airspace as World War fears continue to escalate>" Problem is once you start reading the story it is revealed that no they didn't fire on the Russian Jets, they dropped flairs. Re: Media Bias
Fox News edited Trump’s rambling answers and false claims in barbershop interview, full video shows
https://news.yahoo.com/finance/news/fox-news-edited-trump-rambling-122942138.html Trump’s complaints about “60 Minutes” center on an edit of Harris’ comment about the relationship between Israel and the United States. He has charged that CBS manipulated the Harris interview to “make her look better” and demanded that CBS release the unedited transcript of the interview, which CBS has declined to do. The televised broadcast omitted Trump’s comments about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio. He told the barbershop customers that “they just dumped 50,000 people — 32,000 migrants from another country — in Springfield, Ohio. They don’t know what to do.” The actual number of migrants in Springfield is far lower, according to the city’s own data. The broadcast also left out Trump’s gross exaggerations about crime in Aurora, Colorado. One of the most telling parts of the dialogue began when an audience member asked Trump about finding a way to eliminate federal taxes in the future. On Fox, Trump was shown immediately answering affirmatively: “There is a way.” But that response from Trump actually came more than seven minutes later, after Trump (and Jones) brought up other topics, including inheritances, the Keystone Pipeline, Ronald Reagan, Russia, and transgender sports players. Trump had to be nudged back on track several times by the unnamed audience member, who kept circling back, apologetically, and said “I wasn’t able to finish my question.” After he repeated his tax inquiry yet again, Trump said “there is a way.” In another unplayed portion of the visit, Trump praised Hungarian strongman Viktor Orban and called him a “very respected guy.” That exchange underscored Trump’s tendency to favor autocratic leaders, but Fox decided not to share it with viewers. |

Second time an Owner has stepped in , so much for the Free Press.

The billionaire Amazon founder stopped the publication of an endorsement of the Democratic candidate which its editorial board had already written, the paper reported. Within hours Kagan, a veteran editor-at-large quit in disgust, Semafor reported. The dramatic move was called “cowardice” by its Pulitzer Prize-winning ex-editor, Baron. One of the paper’s star reporters, Ashley Parker, called it “a new type of October Surprise.” The sudden move 11 days before the election caused shockwaves, and came despite the paper endorsing local candidates. It plunges The Washington Post into the same kind of civil war which is already engulfing The Los Angeles Times whose billionaire owner also stopped a Harris endorsement. |

Not arguing with you at all. Do you think it would be better if all newspapers didn't make an official presidential endorsement? I don't think it's a bad idea to not have an editorial board try to influence how all of it's readers vote. |

Doesn't matter, the Editorial Board should make the call , not the Owner. News papers have always had opinions since day one, now Billionaires decide what you should read. |

Re: Media Bias
Another example of a story deliberately omitting facts or information. In this case to push for something that the President doesn't have the authority to do. They want him to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment as Virginia became the necessary 38th state to ratify the ERA a couple of years back. What the story omits is that there was a specific deadline Congress set for ratifying the amendment and that deadline expired 42 years ago. They also omit that 5 states withdrew their ratification before the deadline. They want the President to ignore the deadline and the 5 states that rescinded the ratification. It would be a massive overreach that likely would not ever be accepted by political opponents or the courts. Bottomline it would contribute to the divide in the US.

The Pulitzer Prize winner shared her decision in a Substack post Friday. “I have had editorial feedback and productive conversations—and some differences—about cartoons I have submitted for publication, but in all that time I’ve never had a cartoon killed because of who or what I chose to aim my pen at. Until now,” she said. Telnaes had worked at the Washington Post since 2008. She described the political cartoon that did not get published, saying it “criticizes the billionaire tech and media chief executives who have been doing their best to curry favor with incoming President-elect Trump.” |

“Fact checkers have been too politically biased and have destroyed more trust than they’ve created,” Zuckerberg said in a video announcing the new policy Tuesday. “What started as a movement to be more inclusive has increasingly been used to shut down opinions and shut out people with different ideas, and it’s gone too far.”
Mark Zuckerbergs announcement is a remarkable in that it has so many quiet parts out loud: he says the election is a cultural tipping point for free speech, that the “legacy media” is the driver of censorship, and that “immigration and gender” topics will no longer be censored Nature is healing…first X/Twitter and now Facebook/Instagram. Free Speech is always the right choice |
