That's a worrying parallel with us. We're going to face a lot of good pass rush teams this season, including those same Bills. If SH comes out and has an average year and your on the fence whatever to build on him or cut bait; it puts the franchise in a tough spot. If we were not holding out hope on Haskins the year we drafted CY, at #2 we probably had been looking at some great QBs, sigh. |

I guess his age finally caught up to him. |

He had really good lines in Green Bay. Not here. Bechton is a bust.

That would actually be a pretty good idea for both teams. After what the Jets saw from their D last night, they should still want to go for it. I'd offer him for a 2nd, then negotiate down to a 3rd if needed. If Howell gets hurt, might as well tank the season anyways and/or see if Fromm is magically some rabbit out of a hat. |

I just feel that if you want SH to succeed (who doesn't?) then this is a lesson. You want your QB to succeed, keep him upright. Of course if RR really needed to be taught that lesson after all this time, then it's already too late. |

the pass protection was there, the line failed on the run. SH holds the ball way too long. By the end of this season either through injury or incompetent play; JB will get his shot. I hope SH does well too but man I just don't see it yet. |

This. I think it's way too early to judge either way, but 2 at least average performances in 2 starts and 2 wins is a good start all things considered. |

How about getting their starting RT instead? Oh wait, that is Becton and he hasn't exactly shined (although it was the other tackle that got roasted when Rodgers got hurt). Sigh -- would love to get some help on our leaky O-line, but that seems impossible now. |

I think Dallas was above average but im probably splitting hairs because my sanity depends on Howell actually, finally, being a reliable quarterback. |

With this oline that is entirely possible. |

Not sure what you are looking for? Arm strength? Has it. Accuracy? Has it. Mobility? Has it. Toughness? Has it. Poise? Has it. The list of really good or great quarterbacks who weren’t on a trajectory towards the Hall of Fame after two games is as long as the list of quarterbacks who have ever started two games in the NFL. That would be foolish. Always have to keep options open for any player/position. The positives i see are just what i listed. Arm strength, accuracy, poise, mobility, toughness. He has shown us all that. It has to be consistent of course, and that remains to be seen. Just saying that after 2 starts I’ve seen enough to think that we could be on to something. Taylor Heinekie had zero arm strength. Carson Wentz had zero mobility. That was obvious. There is no obvious weakness to what I see with Sam. He just needs to hone his skills but that isn’t a weakness it is something any rookie quarterback needs to do. Even the greatest ones had to do that. |

Both extremely coachable and fixable unlike arm strength etc. |

I really think every one on this board should be required to liste to Keim before making any outlandish remarks (and that's me included). On a serious note, it is good to see that a lot of the issues with both Sam and the offensive line are fixable. For the o-line, it is having more experience working together, and for Sam it is fixing those little mistake and not repeat them (as you punch said, all coachable). |

Experience experience experience. He has all the tools he just needs experience. He will get there. It us what makes these winnable games so important. Im excited to see him get another go Sunday.

How about Brock Purdy? Last pick in the draft coming off a serious injury. No problem, rolls Pittsburgh at their crib. Very impressed w/ that kid.

Not to take anything away from Purdy, but the 49ers are built to insert just about any QB to be successful. But you still need a good QB regardless, and I'm happy to see him being a success so far after being a 7th rounder. |
