What happens if bengals take Tua ... there would be a a mad rush to get burrow.. if that were to happen we could end up with 3 number one picks offered to us..
All this shit is marketing. Every damn year there is the next two great QBs. Burrows is nothing great he is just the best they have this year to build up as the Golden Child. |
Re: Should we be drafting Tua???
Here is a question to answer.
We have the second pick and Burrows goes #1. With the second pick would you pick Chase, Tau or Haskins (hypothetically here that he came out in this draft)? |

so you wouldn't even take Haskins |
Re: Should we be drafting Tua???
Id take Tua first (since I dont have a QB), Chase second and I woudlnt take Haskins with the 2nd overall pick. Certainly not in this draft where it seems there are 5-6 really blue chip prospects.
Im not a Haskins hater, I like him but I just dont see an elite franchise QB. Foot work, arm slot, mechanics, feel need work. maybe 10-15 best in the league in a few years and you can work with that. Still way to early to judge Haskins and we will find out a lot this year. |
Re: Should we be drafting Tua???
Right now if you asked me who was the better prospect Haskins or Hurts? I'd probably say Hurts, similar accuracy traits and arm strength but Hurts can move much better, he's going to be a steal this yr
|
Re: Should we be drafting Tua???
so you wouldn't even take Haskins
Wow, I totally misread that somehow. Tua, then Dwayne, then Chase if they are all in the same draft just because you need the QB |

Lamar and Patrick are probably the two best in the last five years to come out neither was part of this pre-draft circle jerk hype machine before each of their respective drafts. I just looked him up. I can't believe he is 43 years old and last played 10 years ago. I thought he had only been gone a couple years, seems the older I get the faster time flies. |
Re: Should we be drafting Tua???
I was thinking that trading down does provide one benefit from a QB perspective..... if it involves a 1st rounder next year we would likely have two 1st in the top 10/15 which gives the team a year to look at DH and if they dont like what they are seeing they will have the ammunition to trade up next year for a premier prospect.... just a thought

Nothing wrong with your reasoning, IMHO. Still, if we can't get the appropriate return on the #2 pick, then I think we'll draft draft Chase Young. |

Just get Young and be done.
Cincy has been known to surprise in past drafts so in my mind I keep going back to "What if the Bengals draft Chase Young #1"? The resulting bidding for our #2 pick could get so outrageous that I can't imagine what we might be able to get for it. So, I just tell myself "Nah, that won't happen" and put it out of mind. |

Absolutely, my price for not taking CY would be x2 1st and a 2nd this year and a 1st next. Taking Tua makes no sense to me if you are going to dump DH, I would rather take the trade down option and go for a QB next year |

If Tua was the top QB prospect I'd say them taking Young wouldn't be all that crazy. But passing on Burrow would be insane. They have to take him. |
Should we be drafting Tua???
The fans in Cincy will murder the GM if he doesn’t take Burrows after the season he had.
We can’t give up on Haskins when his last two games were ELITE. If Haskins sucks this year then we draft a QB to challenge him in NEXT years draft. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Exactly right. Statistically 1.6% of college players are good enough make it to the NFL. I cannot imagine when bigger/faster/stronger NFL defensive players start taking aim at Tua as compared to college player . Every player that goes from College to pros always says the physical toll as the biggest change. More games. |
Re: Should we be drafting Tua???
Chase Young = 100%
Trade Down = 50% Tua = -50% Total = 100% |
Re: Should we be drafting Tua???
It all boils down to RR, does he really believe in DH as his franchise QB? The fact that he hasn't come out and said "Dwayne is our guy" makes it seem like he's on the fence... Could be a smokescreen, could be motivation for DH.. We will see come draft night

Agreed. By all accounts, Chase Young is a generational defensive talent. I just don't see RR letting that go by him. Give DH a shot this year to show what he's got. If he can't cut it, then you see about going all in on trying to snag your QB of the future. Trevor Lawrence at Clemson and Justin Fields at Ohio State will lead the QB list for the 2021 draft. But there will be others that emerge like Joe Burrows did this past year. Or .... maybe ... we get lucky and draft Jalen Hurts this year, and maybe he turns out to be our QB of the future. Give me Chase Young this year, and let's elevate our D-Line to elite status. |

SFOK, I like you man, but this is just nonsense. Let's go. $100 that Dwayne Haskins will still be our first string qb after draft night. |

Lol mooby I'm just not so sure, I won't bet on anything in the NFL anymore. The draft is crazy every yr

All that matters is what Rivera has personally told Haskins Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Should we be drafting Tua???
Young is as close to a sure thing as any prospect in recent years. In terms of ability maybe Tua is too. But his injury history is already sending up red flags. You have a potential generational talent and everyone's #1 player in the draft or a guy that might be a franchise QB or another RG3. I say you go where there is a higher degree of certainty and take Young. As said, if Haskins isn't the guy, then you draft QB again next year, but in the meantime you will have a defensive linchpin in place. And you won't have let him go to the Giants.
