The next 2 games are the only games Mark could manage the game and we could win, only because these 2 opponents are also out of the hunt. Still think we could beat Dallas in a 3rd game. But, your point is valid. |

I’m lifting this idea from Kevin Sheehan, I’d totally be on board with this plan...
Promote Kyle Smith to GM, he can answer to Doug Hire Gregg Williams as HC, get someone like Zac Taylor as OC (currently Rams QB coach). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
Since 2014, we haven't had anything that even resembles this type of run game or run success:
https://www.footballoutsiders.com/film-room/2018/film-room-denver-running-game This is the type of model we could morph into (run the ball, lights out defense), literally, as soon as next year. But not under Jay Gruden and Greg Manusky. We supposedly had a talented offensive line. When is the last time we ran any sort of zone run? |

He seemed pretty disappointed that the 'skins didn't promote him after Gibbs left - as well as the rest of us were pretty disappointed. I don't know if he'd be willing to come back. |

Ehhh, a whole new regime, so maybe that might be attractive... |
Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
Gregg Williams , David Shaw (HIGHLY UNLIKELY) , Zach Taylor (as he's heating up) . One of these guys is who I'd want. Love Williams because he's a no nonsense no BS coach. He's not like Jay, he's not a players coach. I loved him on Hard knocks. I'm just not sure the Browns wouldn't keep him.
|
Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
We've had good coaches to pass us up in the past. I'm thinking to do it right, Bruce Allen needs to be fired, Smith promoted and then let Smith pick the next head coach. Might be more attractive for future prospects.

That is why I'm hoping we do lose out, so there is no doubt we would need to clean house. |

Greg Williams was disappointed that Snyder fucked things up by not hiring him. But we now have a talented defense that lacks a smart leader. He has to see that and might be tempted to take the job. |
Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
Why is everyone so obsessed with Gregg Williams? A man that was involved in a players bounties w/ NO, Jeff Fisher’s butt buddy and looks like he belongs in the witness protection program with his dyed hair and facial hair. I say there are much better candidates like, David Shaw, Matt LaFleur, Shane Waldron, Bill Lazor.

Gregg Williams won a super bowl as defensive coordinator. He runs a aggressive 4-3 defense. He is very good at in game schemes and changes, something our currenty staff sucks at. In fact almost every defensive coordinator we have had since GW left has been terrible at in game scheme changes. I remember watching and being really impressed with the way GW would change the secondary coverage right up to the snap of the ball. Players love to play for him. He inspires players. He is a top defensive coordinator when he has talent. We have defensive talent. It is a good fit. |

I do, I don’t think many other teams would touch him as HC. That supposed deal was more myth than reality anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
Gregg gets his guys to play with fire, our D lacks that right now other than DJ and a couple others. Our DL has vanished in the last 4 - 5 weeks. That is inexcusable, Jon Allen and Payne have been getting dominated , especially on run d. RK and PS are both so inconsistent and the DBs have gone to crap.
|
Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
When i watched Dallas the other night that D was fun as hell to watch. They fly to the ball and don't miss tackles. Something we started out doing, then shit went downhill for some reason, maybe they got tired of carrying the team but that shows the lack of fight those guys have, as DJ has pointed out many times after losses.

For one thing we saw, first hand, how good the Redskins defense was when Gregg was the DC. We saw gang tackling, we saw players wrapping up ball carriers, etc.. and people, right or wrong, seem to equate the 4-3 to being more of a successful base defense for the 'skins rather than the 3-4. That part can certainly be debated, but why not Gregg Williams? I'm sure you'd be thrilled to death if the 'skins brought Sean Payton to Washington, even though Payton was suspended a year for the same incident. |
Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
I would love G. W. back as the Defensive Coordinator, but not so much as the head coach. I think his brash personality can work for the defensive side of a football team, but when things go south players don't respond to that kind of coaching anymore.

I've been jealous of that for weeks now. Guys don't hustle to the ball. How many times have we seen a solo DB go for the strip only to get beaten for more yards? It only works when one guy secures the tackle, then the next guy tries to rip the ball out. |

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
If the season was to end today, I would part ways with Norman and Reed. Recoup a chunk of that cap space, we will need it since Smith will take like $15-16 of that room. I would offer Iodannis an extension, resign Preston, cut McPhee and Foster.

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
Idc if Gregg Williams looks like the Joker as long as he can coach. Which he can.
What does it say about him that its' taken the Browns two weeks to get as many wins as Hue did in 2+ years? My only concern would be him neglecting the offensive side of the ball. He needs to hire a strong coordinator to run the offense. We see it all too often, an offensive or defensive coordinator gets a shot at a HC gig and can't hire a coordinator for shit (ex. Jay Gruden, defensive coordinator). Also, I'm totally ready to move on from a 3-4. It's been 10 years that we've had it now and every year our personnel has been garbage. RN with Foster and Brown we have a really smart guy who's also really slow, and a really athletic guy who's also really dumb. It starts with them. |
Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
Smith needs to walk, he is too inconsistent and hes slow. No thanks on keeping him.
Reed needs to go away too, he's always hurt and all of the sudden drops passes. |

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
I wish Dan would make himself more accessible to the media. Every year Steve Bisciotti does a State of the Ravens Press Conference. He makes a statement on what the season was, the strengths and weaknesses of the team, the coaching staff and the FO and what the expectations are for the next year. Then he and Eric DeCosta/Ozzie Newsome answer questions.

I agree, I love JNO but he's getting old and not worth the $ Now if he is willing to reconstruct I'd keep him. |
Re: Time to clean house 1.0.
While I don't think we're the most talented team in the NFL, we're also not the worst by any stretch of the imagination. Even in our decimated state there is still some talent on the field. Our biggest issue is with coaching and discipline.
Our team was excited to show what it could do early in the season but once contact started and injuries mounted, they have wilted. That's a culture issue. The coaching staff is responsible for that first and foremost. You have to make the coaching change to a hard ass, pronto. But I wouldn't cut every player. Maybe a few, especially those who don't represent a culture of toughness. Reed would have to be on that list for me. I want a coach who emphasizes that the most important ability is availability. |

Jay is a easy going players coach and this is what happens when u have that run a team. As for talent, We have a solid OL (Just need a LG). RB's are ok, especially if Guice is the real deal. WR's = GARBAGE and we need at least 2 starters there. TE = Garbage , same as WR. OLB needs an upgrade, Smith needs to go. Not worth what he will ask for. Need a true FS, HHCD is too slow back there. CB is ok but need a true #1 JNO is not that guy anymore. Overall a new HC and QB could boost the team starting in 2019, but if they keep Jay around the team is going to be the same |
