Apke is electric. They need to play him all preseason and prep him to be our backup FS. I am surprised. People have been dogging the pick. His speed is a different level
Yeah, he plays aggressive too.
Overall I think we are seeing a different kind of energy on the field compared to last year at the same time.
Our young secondary needs more time together
Agreed but thats what TC and preseason are for, and good potential was displayed imo.
Stroman and Apke are nice surprises. Johnson is doing good.

Re: Redskins vs Patriots

I said this back in the off season and I don't care if I get run outta here. Colt can play. He can make most of the throws that Kirk made. And he is very similar to Smith. If given the chance, and if he could stay healthy, he would put up similar numbers to Smith. I'm convinced of that.

I will also say another bold statement. Harris if given the chance could do just as good as Doc. He may not be able to make the jump balls, but he'd give you more consistency down in and down out. He'd make tougher catches like Garcon did. Also liked what we saw from Davis too. Out of those two, one or both, may just bite into Doc's PT.

I’m impressed with our secondary so far.....however, we need to work on our 3rd and 4th stringers, their lunch money is being stolen right now

Hard to argue against this. Just wish we had line depth and a better defense

Our starting D is gonna be fine, and we have good DB and LB depth. DL depth is what worries me.

I called it. 17-0 insert Hogan, 17-26

A quarterback that cannot run the system can single handedly demoralize a team. I am so glad we've got 2 that can run the system.

The fumble returned for 70 yards right after you got good field position was a killer.

But overall I like the effort... aside from lineS play.
Why does this feel so Redskinish?
I think we played 1 depth level lower for most of the game. I think the team played with heart for a preseason game and got alot of good looks for film and practice. Dont really care that we lost, i would rather see what players do against the same or better competition.

Players who stood out in PS Game 1:

Derrius Guice - The Real Deal. Easily our #1 RB. Let's hope he's OK.
Montae Nicholson - Has everything you want at safety. He'll be a star this season.
Robert Davis - Was a big athlete last season. Now he's a football player. Keeper.
Martrell Spaight - He looked great last night. Seemed to say "You can't cut me".
Maurice Harris - He's a lock. Book it.
Kenny Ladler - He's a pro. Excellent tackler. Forced a fumble.
Troy Apke - Great closing speed. Made a nice goal line play. Plays teams. Developmental.
Danny Johnson - Has everything but size. Played his heart out last night.
Tim Settle - Played a lot of snaps and held up. Excellent potential.

p.s. - I hate to say it but our backup O-linemen are terrible. Let's hope our scouts are busy and can find us somebody who can play via trade or whatever.

Don't forget about Stroman, IMO he stood out, excellent coverage against the Pats 1st, good returns, good kickoff coverage.

Zach Vigil also had a really good game.

Big disappointment: Geron Christian and... Tim Settle. We disagree here, he was pushed back on almost every play, doesn't move his feet enough. It was a little better in the second half, he managed to make 2 tackles for little to no gain but he was going underneath his opponent, never saw him drive an opponent back like you hope a NT would.

Man I’m just hoping Matt I and Guice are ok...

agree with KI post...I thought Settle played just fine. Guice looked better than I expected for a rookie...

Danny Johnson, Robert Davis and Mo Harris really stood out

Christian has a l-o-o-o-n-g ways to go (and that's being nice) but I think Settle has potential.

Our entire backup OL is a mess. We need to bring in players to help there.

Perine put the ball on the ground again. Bad sign.

Ryan Anderson still looks like a man without a position.

Kevin Hogan just can't play. Period.

I know why you're up and out of bed at this hour but why am I?

Well... They sure know better than me, will have to rewatch our defensive snaps, and I'm waiting for Cooley's breakdown. But it felt like he wasn't moving his feet enough, and was driven back quite a lot.

Whoever thinks Tim Settle was disappointing doesn't understand football. You really should be banished from the board because you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

Reading shit like this on here makes me fuckin mad. Go to some other dipshit board if you don't know the game.

That's the one real legit play he made. Against a 3 stringer.
I am no line expert and am sorry if you feel like I'm completely off, but I just re-watched the game and apart from that play I really don't see what everybody is excited about.
Again, I can be wrong, and line play really isn't what I know best, but you'd have to tell me what to look for to be impressed.
