I'm not buying into that really. His line coach, Washburn, is with Philly; his coordinator, Schwartz, is in Detroit; his head coach there, Fischer, isn't anywhere. Who's the guy that'd want him in there? Bud Adams himself? Not saying it WON'T happen but the argument of they know how to get the most out of him is mostly moot, especially since he's not due a new contract quite yet. |
Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
Funny how NFLN said they think the redskins will finish with the worst record

Dennis Dixon is intriguing. He looked really good during Rapistburger's suspension. I love everything about what Vince Young brings to the table athletically. He's shown some serious flashes of star potential during his few years in the league. It's the 5 inches between his ears that worries me. But he's still better than anything that we've got at QB right now, so if the price is right I'd take him. |

That article was terrible. Spelling and punctuation errors, and lame speculation. The funniest was when the author said "reek havoc." LOL. They even said we didn't have a great draft because we passed on Gabbert

Im holding out on the redskins signing Billy Volek

Here is next years quarterbacks. Some solid talent. I like Kellen Moore.
Wow, no Dan Persa in there? Persa has to be top 5 in Qbs in next years draft. He was voted First Team Big Ten QB by the coaches and second team by the press, beating out Pryor in both. 73% completion rate 15 TDs and only 4 INTS. I know he is from Northwestern, but the guy is mobile as hell, and was virtually the entire NU offense. If he has an outstanding season again next year I do hope we give him a look. |
Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
I would love Moore or Jones, but assuming they aren't there when we pick, I still think Persa would be a good look, if not for a second QB pickup.

Serioulsy, I'm looking at his numbers from years past and they should at least earn him a chance to compete for a starting job. Then again collecting a 6 or 7 figure pay check to wear a red "don't hit me shirt" in San Diego can't possibly be to bad of a deal. |

Volek could be the bridge we need until Shanahan drafts the guy he wants to mentor. |

I don't know. Theres always something intriguing about trying to make a zero to hero story happen at QB. So long as you have a proven Offensive Mind behind then you can at least drink the kool aid. Personally I think the Redskins will be better off if they focus on building their offense around the running game regardless of who they bring in at QB. And right now I think it should be Beck because despite him being 30 years old he still has the most upside for the Redskins in 2011. I went back and looked at his preseason numbers in 2009 under Cam Cameron in Baltimore, which was a system he had spent time in and he was productive in those games so maybe the time spent here really has helped Beck. Someone like Young on the other hand has more upside overall but bottom line, Beck has an extra year in the system. Still the Skins are taking a huge risk but the Shanahans have spun straw into gold before so I'll hope for the best but still look at the Cardinals as a cautionary tale. As for Voleck. I don't know about the Redskins but he really should get a chance to start somewhere. |

He's not bad but I'd rather have Orton. People are seriously underrating Kyle as a qb |
Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
Volek's gotten his chance to start somewhere, and he has. At this stage in his career now, he's just a solid backup.
We have that in Grossman, unless of course he leaves via free agency, who isn't 35 years old |

I think they kind of overrate him. In 3rd down and red zone and 2 minute situations, I don't recall his numbers being very strong |

I don't want to add Orton simply because I think it's kind of cruel to have Orton compete with Grossman again. |
Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
What about T Jax, Dennis Dixon, or Matt Moore
Last year I wanted to bring T Jax in to back up McNabb.. I'd prob let Dixon compete for starter this year.. I think in the right situation Moore could be a dependable starter somewhere in the league if he played backup in a good fit for him a bit longer |

Yeah but the "Grossman Sweepstakes" The Skins are still overwhelming favorites against the other 31 teams. |
Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
Id be fine with resigning Grossman and having him/Beck compete for the starting position, then see what one of them can do given a whole year to start in this system. If it doesnt work out there are some solid qb prospects next year.
Andrew Luck QB Stanford Matt Barkley QB USC Kirk Cousins QB Michigan State Ryan Lindley QB San Diego State Brandon Weeden QB Oklahoma State Nick Foles QB Arizona G.J. Kinne QB Tulsa Kellen Moore QB Boise State Landry Jones QB Oklahoma |

Yeah thanks forgot about him, i added him. I like Luck, Barkley and Moore. The other guys id have to watch more this year to get a good idea how i feel about them. |
Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
Nick foles is pretty good if he plays well this year he could go first round
|

Yes. No Bears Part 2. |
Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
Kellen Moore is from Boise state not Stanford
|
Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
you can scratch QB from Tulsa off, they are always the typical "system" QB

My bad, was typing on the fly, that would be pretty impressive if Luck and Moore went to Stanford. |
Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
The key is that we are a MUCH MUCH BETTER team than we were Thursday morning, and added some new starters to the defense and some good depth to the offensive skill positions. Cant do it all in 1 draft.

If he has another nice year with Northwestern he would be behind Luck, Moore, Barkley, and Jones. If he improves upon his 2010 stats, I would put him at #3. Persa is superior to the rest of your field with the exception of the "Big 3". |

I think our defense is much better. If Shanny gets his RB mojo, then we may have a good RB group. Hopefully we have a starting WR in Hankerson, although our WR group will be as good as our QB and offensive line play...and well it has yet to be seen how that's going to work out. |
Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
Here is a question...
Would anyone go for a McNabb for Jimmy Clausen trade? McNabb to groom Newton, we get Clausen who won't get a real shot with the money Newton is getting? Anyone? |
Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
^^ nope, I only want to bring in a qb if he is the solution for the next 2-3 years
|

Either get a late round pick from Minnesota or do the right thing and let McNabb go. Anyone want to propose a Haynesworth trade. |

Haynesworth back to the titans for Vince Young plus a 2nd or a 3rd |
Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
Not a Clausen fan... just thinking it makes sense for both sides. YOUNG Competition for Beck & Grossman.
