Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
I've seen Mack being taken at 20 by Detroit and 32 by Pittsburgh. It's all speculation right now. Ryan Leaf was projected pretty high and how did that work out? If you're going to build your team from the inside out, you don't get anymore inside than center. I have no connection to Mack as I'm sure SFREDSKIN doesn't. But IMO the guy is definitely a cut above and there are very few questions about his ability if any. He would make our line better THIS YEAR IMO. A lot of us were ready to throw money at Jason Brown. Well he's gone. Mack is cheaper and will be better than Brown IMO. He's been compared to Matt Birk. If we do take him and he does'nt start right away I'm sure SFREDSKIN and I will take alot of flack but this guy has all-pro written all over him if you ask me. JMO
Correction: I'll go out on a limb and predict he will be the next Jim Otto. |
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
Great deal. This is the kind of deal we should have been offering to Hall, ideally.
Dockery plugs up the uncertainty on the left side now. Draft is weak at Guard, so this was pretty critical. Have to add a Center and a Tackle in the draft now. We can wait like three weeks and still find a cost effective option at Center. The market is flooded at C this year, both in the draft and in free agency.
I don't think Hall would have taken a deal like Dock's. At the time Hall was the best FA corner available. The idiotic contract that the Raiders gave Asomugha is what made the deal so expensive. It was reported that other teams were interested in Hall. I bet he would have received the same deal from someone else if we had let him go. Taking it with a grain of salt but I thought that Vinny said someone offered him a little more than we did. I would not be shocked if Springs gets a huge deal. |
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
I purpose we pick up Andre Smith AND Alex Mack in the draft. Maybe if Mack falls to the 2nd, we will trade up to get him.
|
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
If we did that.......well that would be to good to be true. But we still need a OLB unless they think Blades or JT can handle it. Of course the FO seems to feel the draft is pretty deep at LB.

"IF" we got Smith and Mack.(not gonna happen) I think JT could handle OLB. |

Oh c'mon 44, you even think JT could be the backup QB. :)

He's too tall like JC. He'd never work in the WCO. :laughing- |

Your probably right. How about getting Doc back!!!! Really impressed with FO this year so far. |

haha 44. ... seriously on JT playing OLB, my worry is that basically we're playing a 5-2 defense, which i haven't heard of since high school. Taylor isn't a great tackler and def not a huge hitter. As OLB, strong or weak, i think he'll just be roaming the LOS looking for the best spot to attack the QB or RB in the backfield but if he misses... Obviously Blache will devise the best scheme but I feel like we get the most out of JT if he's our full-time RDE. Evans/Daniels and Carter would take turns at LDE but honestly Carter doesn't fit there very well. And we still need to find another OLB in this scenario. Clearly we've got a shit-ton of talent on d this year I just think it's a little unclear how to put it to it's best uses. |
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
Can someone explain what is going on with the CBA in terms of what year will be uncapped and how this will impact our long term cap status (especially in the wake of this large splash we are making in FA this year)?
Schneed? Is the front office taking a gamble that the salary cap will be higher in future years (if at all existent)? |

But it seems like every time I say that someone says he cant play RDE in a 4-3. But the fact is he has played that position in a 4-3 most of his career. |

Exactly, save for a year or two he played OLB in a 3-4 scheme. I mean obviously we've got two natural RDEs in Carter and Taylor but Taylor is the pro-bowler at the position and AC is actually the stouter of the two (not by much but he's a tad shorter and about 10 to 15 lbs heavier during the season). Carter and Evans/Daniels can swap out at LDE, depending on the offense we face and down etc. |

All I hear about is that he can't do this or can't do that. In 2006 he was the Defensive player of the year. In 2007 he had a very productive year. People talk about this guy like he is a fraud instead of a warrior. I don't think he gets enough credit for playing through 2 SEVERE injuries. I also think that people are underestimating his pride. You think he wants to go out after last year? I doubt it. Jason Taylor is a monster and was a big contributor to the 4th best defense in the NFL last year. Plus, in my opinion the best game of the year by the defense was the second Philly game and he was all over the place. |

With AH in there helping out, JT would be a Beast |

All good points $$, and I'm not in anyway suggesting he's a fraud or anything like that but i do think it's legit to wonder where his pro-bowl talent is put to the best use... i tend to think Taylor has the best opportunity of all our guys to benefit from the presence of big Al and that means he's got to be on the LOS but i don't want to see him shedding huge blockers all day at LDE before he's got a shot at the QB. |

I agree with you. Most of the negatives I have heard have been from talk show hosts who along with Jason LaCanfora have been consistently wrong with their speculation recently. |
MARVELOUS value!
$8.2 million in guaranteed money, this amounts to a $2.0 million cap hit. I have us with $4.4 million in space at this point. Still enough to sign another impact lineman! Woot! Welcome back 66!
I like to see that RT spot filled! |
