Re: Washington trades for Deebo Samuel
He was healthy for 15 games last year and 15 games the year before. That is pretty good. I can think of alot of our own players who weren’t.
He is the perfect weapon for KK’s offense. All the misdirection. I cannot wait to see him plugged in.
Well he played in those games, credit for that, but he's one of those guys constantly on the injury list each week. When he's 100% he's definitely a beast. |
Re: Washington trades for Deebo Samuel
I agree with Chief, you can and probably should. I see no reason to trade a draft pick for a one year rental when there are other wrs you can get to do the same, minus the running element. THAT would be bad business in my mind. The only way you trade picks is for a keeper, otherwise, you screwed up
Let's just say for the sake of argument that you extend Terry and Debo, both on 3 year deals. That would mean you would have a ton of money tied up to 2 30 year old wr's for a few more years. One of which is coming off a 51 catch 670 yard season. Why would you do that? I can get Debo's production from a lot of guys and pay them way less and keep my 5th rounder. If Sk69 is GM Peters, my $ is going on defense. I already have a top 5 offense, but I can't stop the Lions or Eagles. Isn't Milton Williams and Zach Baun free agents? Doubt Philly can keep both. These are the types of guys I'm trying to get. Not a 29 year old WR coming off an average, subpar year. And to be clear, I don't hate this move. It's just not my first choice. The guys I mentioned would be. |
Re: Washington trades for Deebo Samuel
I'd let Deebo play this year out. If he's a flop you move on, if he produces you worry about a new deal next year.

It would be nice to have 2 solid receivers on long term deals is all I am saying, but I think I may change my tune on deebo based on learning he performs best in contract years. The risk there is he does great this year and we lose him to free agency, but as I now understand it, we may be able to recoup a compensoratory pick if so, so perhaps this truly is a one year rental. If so, we need another receiver, just not an expensive one. I just want a LT and defense at this point, and resign our star punter. Tress Way is the best! |

Now that I hear he puts on weight and is less effective when not motivated, I now agree with this. We need another deep threat, unless we think we can resign one of our own that can do this. Ideally a Big deep threat on the outside. Jaydens endzone fades are a thing of beauty |

True. At the end of the day all I am saying is I expect 2023 from him not 2024. |

Re: Washington trades for Deebo Samuel
It's an A. AP knows him, it's a big upgrade at #2. No way they extend the deal off a down year, it's not really in either side's interest.
There is a way someone gives up a 6th for allen's contract; we literally just did it for deebo. It'd have to be a team with spare cap space and an empty DT spot though. |
Re: Washington trades for Deebo Samuel
If we’re going to get 3 more good years out of him, I think we’ll need to use him a little more carefully than SF, where they worked the hell out of him. His expected shelf life has been looking more like a RB’s than a WR’s. But just the threat of him opens up new playbook tricks for KK — doesn’t always have to be the ball carrier.

Re: Washington trades for Deebo Samuel
Yeah, look at how KK used Ekeler in space. I can't see him bashing him on the rock of NFCE D lines.

To be fair, they use Samuel as RB only whenever their RBs are injured, which happened often. Samuel did commented about how he doesn't like it when the team use him as RB due to the toll it takes on his body. I don't blame Kyle for using Samuel as RB simply because Samuel is good at it, but then I imagine this is one of the reasons why he wanted to leave the team. |
