Metro access is huge.

Re: Home Stadium Convo
In somewhat related news, the Josh Harris-owned Sixers have decided not to build their own stand alone arena in central Philly and will instead partner with the Flyers in a new arena in south Philly that will replace the Wells Fargo Center, which will be about 35 years old (same as FedEx) by the time the new place is slated to open in the early 2030s.

Re: Home Stadium Convo
RFK site has some movement. A deal is "close" with Harris Group pledging up to 2.5 Billion to develop a domed stadium and surrounding area. DC pledging up to 825,000 in infrastructure.

Re: Home Stadium Convo
The fact that Harris and his team will pay majority of the stadium cost is impressive. I always have mixed feelings about city/state covering most, if not all, costs to build a stadium for NFL.

Re: Home Stadium Convo
I'll believe it when it happens.
Even though it's only infrastructure spending; people don't want taxpayer money going to a stadium in any way. People will oppose it and sue. There are people who want no stadium in that site and plan to sue to oppose it. Also, will owners approve a deal where the owner mostly pays for it. They wants taxpayers to pay for most of it. So, despite this apparent good news; there are still potential hurdles. Until those are overcome and stadium is being built, I won't believe it. |

Pumpkin Spice Latte? I'm sure there will be a Starbucks somewhere in the building. |

HTTC![/quote] Agreed. Hopefully there's minimal hiccups after this. I don't care if it's a dome or if they build something outdoors. I want a place where the stadium architecture helps elevate the crowd noise like Seattle. My biggest thing is I really want games to be affordable for the average fan. Really don't like this trend in the league where your fans of minimal wealth can no longer afford to attend games. And bring the Falcons stadium food prices here too. I don't expect these things to happen but it would be nice. |
Re: Home Stadium Convo
Is this new information any different than what we learned a week ago when news broke that Harris and Bowser had reached an agreement? This just seems like a formal announcement of what we already knew. My understanding is that the City Council must approve the plan, and I haven't read anything that suggests that has occurred yet.

I went to the Titans game there in December. The fan experience was great, but a new stadium has been in need for a long time. I actually would be ok with the dome. Think the games are fun there and no weather element. Eager to see how it all unfolds and excited. |
