The hits just keep coming with this franchise huh? I'm sure Rivera knew he was stepping into a real shit hole here but you just have to wonder if he knew how high the shit was piled.

No way he knew. I suspect the sexual harassment suit was the worst surprise - seemingly every coach has to deal with a player who commits a crime. But the “damn good team culture” must have been culture shock.

I do appreciate the way Coach Rivera handled this with decisiveness. I hope he has sent a clear message to every player on the team that they are expendable, starter or not, so stay in line.

Losing Guice the player is a big hit, but at the same time, he's been so unreliable healthwise, it likely won't affect us much.

Peterson just said the shorter offseason has kept him fresh and he plans on playing 4 more years to break Emmitt Smith's record. Hopefully that happens in B&G.

Check out this line, although it's from the tabloid known as ESPN so who knows if it's trustworthy:
Before he signed here, some close to Peterson told him it was a good spot because of Guice's knees and the character concerns.
Yeah Keim is definitely trustworthy.

He is one of the few I respect at ESPN.

And definitely not a huge stretch for AP to think he had a good shot at playing here given Guice and his injury concerns. And now we know the character concerns as well. Looks like AP will remain the main dog and the other guys will fight to pick up the scraps.

Adrian Peterson has goals: Breaking Emmitt Smith’s rushing record, and a championship
Peterson needs 4,140 rushing yards to pass the Cowboys legend.

Adrian Peterson is old.

But the 13-year league veteran looks good and says he feels even better. Peterson recently told NFL Network that he would like to play “3-4 more years.” If that comes to pass, he would retire from the NFL on the doorstep of 40 years old. That’s almost unthinkable.

But it’s entirely possible. And given that Peterson still has goals in mind, he’s not ready to walk away from the game just yet.

“Winning a championship is the one I want most.”

But there’s also the matter of Emmitt Smith’s all-time NFL rushing record. Peterson needs 4,140 more rushing yards to pass the Cowboys legend.

“That’s one of the goals I set to myself when I entered the NFL was to pass the GOAT,” Peterson told NFL Network.

Both achievements are unlikely. The Washington Football Team would currently be considered a Super Bowl longshot, and there’s no reason to expect that Peterson can string together four straight 1,000-yard rushing seasons at his current age. Peterson turned 35 in March.

But the touches might be there, at least for the 2020 season.

Washington released running back Derrius Guice on Friday night, just hours after he was arrested on domestic violence charges.

That leaves Peterson as the top running back on the roster, though recent Washington draftees will also compete to replace Guice’s production.

Re: Derrius Guice arrested on Felony strangulation domestic assault charge

Major sigh regarding AP. Unless you have Derrick Henry then there is no way I want a back like AP at this point in his career. The wear down the defense, Riggo drill 3 yards and a cloud of shit is outdated. The league has totally changed and you need shifty quicker backs that can catch. Would you see the Chiefs giving AP the ball? No way. What about the 49ers? Nope. Give me guys like McCaffery all day long. Versatility over slow as a turtle and can't catch.

AP is too damn slow at this point. Look what Bibbs did when he came here? That guy was playing well and could catch. He was gone cause he and the HC were smashing the secretary ... lol. But you can find guys off the street that are better than AP at this point.
If you have a 35 year old as your top back in today's NFL then that is sad on so many levels.

Until someone steps up and takes snaps away from him AP will be the lead back. We're looking like a committee approach anyway. He's still an effective 2 down back.

Guice was never reliable anyway, it's really not a big loss. F him

Unfortunate all around. 3 incidents all with the same woman. Thats a toxic relationship a la Rueben Foster.

I am surprised, he seemed to have a positive spirit.

Re: Derrius Guice arrested on Felony strangulation domestic assault charge

It has nothing to do with Guice. An offense is tougher to defend if your backs are a threat to catch the ball. In today's NFL I would never have a back on my roster that isn't a threat to catch the ball. When AP is in the game the offense becomes predictable. Why would an already bad offense have a slow back that can't catch as it's lead back? Someone please explain that to me. Just makes ZERO sense. I want Love to be given every opportunity to win the job.

The Pats have won so many SB's with backs that catch out of the backfield. Brady is walking into the HOF throwing so many balls to backs.

Love hasn't done anything in 3 years, for all we know he's another Guice. Hope he can show something but I'm not counting on anything.

We do not know the entire story right now. There are a lot of crazy mentally unstable women out there. Just cause she said he did something doesn't mean he actually did it.
