Just looking at rumors and names.
He's better than what we have right now. |
AlfMo- 6th round
Thompson - 4th round Matt Jones - 3rd Not that AlfMo was a dominant RB, but he was a good one, better than Matt Jones and picked 3 rounds later. Thompson too was a later pick and is an important piece to the offense. Again, better value than Jones. So, Matt Jones wasn't a first or second round pick and I think that's your point, and I tend to agree that this year's 2nd pick should probably be RB, but I'm just pointing out that if it's not as elite RB I wouldn't ever take them in the first. I'd even give pause to drafting Barkley at 13 depending on ago eke is on the board and who's willing to trade. Marshawn Lynch is the only elite RB that has won a Superbowl in 15 years and he had some help at QB. It's a passing league, RBs don't last long and just can't impact a team as much as they used to. It's to me a luxury pick to get that elite RB that you make after you're solid across the board. But yeah, I'd like to get a better back in the 2nd this year. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Could not agree more. You can find RB's in free agency or later on in the draft. I would never ever draft one in the 1st or 2nd round. There are so many truly great RB's that have not sniffed a SB. The only way I'd draft one high is if he stays on the field on 3rd down, like Portis did. He's the last complete back we've had around here. |

And being good enough to bump Thompson out of the 3rd down role is hard to do. |

I don't think Elliot is a Cowboy in 2022, unless he takes a seriously undervalued contract. Nearly every other position, if the player is a star, you hope for 8-12, or like Scherff and Williams you hope for 10 to 15. A RB in the first round has to be a superstar to be worth it. Maybe Barkley is, but most aren't |
Re: 'No doubt about it,' Redskins need to upgrade at running back
Exactly, Gruden has a totally different relationship with the players than Williams does. Did we already forget the king of coach speak Joe Gibbs? In public he would never say anything bad about his guys. It’s just part of the job.
And if you read between the lines it’s not hard to see what Gruden is really saying.
This sorta thing used to be referred to as "Having Class." I know it's a foreign idea these days but it use to be as long you were employed or employing someone you kept up a good face towards each other for the sake of the companies reputation. I for one prefer this type of behavior as apposed to someone such as Hue in Cleveland who likes to publicly take shots at his team/players. |
Re: 'No doubt about it,' Redskins need to upgrade at running back
If you take a look over the last 15 years also, with the exception of Flacco and Foles all the Super Bowl winners had elite QBs or QBs playing at an elite level, but the way people talk you would think to never take a RB ever, just UDFA every year

Re: 'No doubt about it,' Redskins need to upgrade at running back
The running game is only going to reach a certain level with Jay as the HC/OC. And thats okay because hes very creative and efficient with the passing game.
I think giving him a high draft pick RB will only move the run game forward so far especially in comp to how that same pick could help other positions. I would draft a RB late and not over react to the bad luck the team had with injuries at that position last year. |

Now they could trade that pick for a whole shit load of picks put who knows. I think if he is gone the Giants trade down in the draft. |

Here's to the Browns doing the smart thing and taking Barkley #1 to keep him OUT of our division. The giants could easily bounce back next year and I don't even want to think about Barkley, Odell, Shepard and Engram on third downs. |
