Re: And with the 6th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the redskins select...........
I think Blackmon and Michael Floyd will both be very good players as rookies, though I think Justin Blackmon is going to have the much better career. He is the only receiver I would take at No. 6.
On the offensive line, I would consider David DeCastro and Jonathan Martin at no. 6. And at corner, I would also consider Janoris Jenkins, Alfonzo Dennard, and Morris Claiborne there, with the team needing a really good cover corner. With all that said, my 6th overall pick would be Trent Richardson. Not because of any need. But because he's the only player in the draft who was an elite college performer in 2009, 2010, and 2011, and would continue to be an elite player in the NFL in 2012. |

The quarterback situation takes priority, and so I am not saying that I wouldn't trade the pick up (for Luck/Griffin) or trade the pick down (for Foles/Jones/Tannehill). But if you keep the pick, I think you don't pass on Trent Richardson.

If we don't go QB in the first, I think we need to look at Blackmon, a OL, or Morris Claiborne. |

And corner is one of the safest places you can go at the top of the draft.
To me though, Richardson belongs right below Andrew Luck as the top player in this draft. The only concern for me about Richardson as a player is he runs so hard and physical that he often has to come out of a game for a three play series after a brusing first down, and that really hurt the Alabama offense, particularly against LSU. But if Richardson only takes, say, 65% of our carries over the next three years, that plays right into the RB depth of our team with Helu/Royster. We would have the best running game in the NFC East for the next three seasons if we picked Trent Richardson. Combined with the best group of LBs, now you really have something going. The quarterback situation still needs to be fixed in the same round, and that might cost you your third round pick to make that move, but with two fourths, you have that flexibility. That's my argument for Trent Richardson. If Richardson, Blackmon, Luck, and Griffin are all gone in the first five picks, then I'd start looking at corner or offensive line. |

Griffin, Luck, Kalil, or Claiborne. Trade back if they are not available and take a QB.

Re: And with the 6th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the redskins select...........
If I told you that the Redskins could trade up to the first overall pick creatively, and it wouldn't cost us any of our young players, but it would cost you in sum: the 6th overall pick in 2012, our second round pick in 2012, our first round pick in 2013, and our second round pick in 2014, would you do that?
That's the price the Buccaneers paid to get Jon Gruden in 2002. And I think the same price could get the Redskins the first overall pick in this draft. I can explain if you wish. |
Re: And with the 6th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the redskins select...........
Unless Luck or RGIII slip to us or can be traded for relatively nothing, Id love to see a repeat of the most recent draft. Trade back and acquire more picks. Id like to see QB, OL, corner, LB or WR be the top priorities.
What I think will happen: at #6 the Skins choose Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M
I think Tannehill too, but it won't be 6th. We'll trade the 6th and move back to get Tannehill (or Foles maybe). I wouldn't rule out a FA QB either. |

Re: And with the 6th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the redskins select...........
Don't see that happening either. Shanny has stressed that we lack offensive playmakers and we do. I don't see us using a 1st round pick on a OT maybe 3rd but picks 1 and 2 will be QB/WR or WR/QB.
Shanny likes late round O-linemen that fit his zone blocking scheme. Smaller, more agile guys. We'll have to see what they do in free agency. Bowe and Colston are free agents. We all know about Flynn. Thankfully, they don't have any over paid scrubs crushing their cap space, so they can afford to make a splash in free agency. Beck and Grossman combined don't make as much as most team's starting QB. If they like Flynn, pay him and take care of other biz in the daft - WR, LB, CB, O-line. I proposed this in another thread, because I heard the Bengals might want to trade down to get Richardson, but maybe they can get Cincy's 19th and 24th pick or one of their First round picks and their second round pick for the 6th pick. 3 picks in the first 2 rounds should give the 3 new starters on day one. |
The washington redskins have traded the 6thoverall pick in 2012, their first overall in 2013 and their 2nd rounder in 2012 for the number one overall pick in 2012.
With the first pick in the 2012 NFL draft the redskins select Andrew luck QB Stanford
here was mine Tripp |
