Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
I'm ok with the pick, I don't think he'll be as good as 98 but I do see Kerrigan as a player similar to like Greg Ellis former Dallas DE/LB. He'll have a solid career imo

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
Very nice pick. I was afraid they were going to do something stupid. They didnt.

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
Two points:
1) Looking back, we will compare Kerrigan (and 2nd round pick) to Blaine Gabbert. Time will tell if this was a good move. 2) Is Kerrigan much better than Cam Jordan? Jordan had a lot of hype..
Jordan may have more potential and be better suited to the 3-4 defense, but Kerrigan is more solid, a safer pick, and can contribute early and often. Also, while regarding gabbert, while we may look back and compare the trade, the rams passed on matt ryan and nobody seems to have a problem with that anymore. As long as we get "our" quarterback, whether it be this year in dalton or mallett, or next year in a guy like Luck or Barkley, it wont matter that we utilized this draft to build for years to come. |
Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
I like this pick and the trade down because it represents something that smart, successful teams do and the Redskins in recent years have not done. They traded back and got an extra pick rather then giving away picks. They made a sensible pick at a position of need and seem to have picked a solid player. He's a high motor guy rather then a big ego guy.
Let hope for more of the same later today! |
Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
Very safe pick.
The trade for the additional 2nd rounder was sweet! We may end up with a very nice draft. |
Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
Gave it a B. Solid Pick that fills a need and got decent value at #16 (about where Kerrigan should've gone). Needs to lose some weight to play the 3-4 OLB Spot, but exetremely productive, hard worker, high motor, and a good character guy. This guy is a football player and the money won't change him. Safe pick, Low Risk/High Reward.

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
Likable white guy whose motor exceeds his measurables?
Watch your back, Chris Cooley. |
Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
This pick is a perfect example of what us Redskins fans should be getting used too. They go with the guy who they know will be a football player.
I was one of many hoping for Gabbert, but this just kind of tells you that there's no more fooling around in this organization and if they don't like the quarterbacks, they won't take them. |
Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
Gave it an A. Got a much needed high motor never stop defensive player and gained a second rounder. What's not to like? HTTR!

Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
Plus there currently isn't a #94 on our roster, so he'll get to keep his college number if he wants to. We'll see plenty of Kerrigan jerseys this fall.
He will be the next white guy fan favorite after Cooley. |

You are so right about the Kerrigan pick. The guy is a football player. We need more of those type of players. |
Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
Trading back to get the #49 pick: A
Picking a high motor, high character player that Parcells raved about: A But Cameron Jordan was a better overall fit, and we could have had him with the trade back: C Overall grade: B |

It's funny you say this because I'm probably the biggest Cal fan on this website. Cal, Mizz, and OU are my teams and I follow all the players. I must say that Cameron Jordan is not better than Kerrigan. There's just no way he's better, and he hides behind every second play it just drove me nuts. I think he fell for a reason. |
Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
I gave the pick a B. It's a solid, seemingly low risk, choice. Personally, I don't know much about him, but I like what I hear. Unfortunately, in most of the highlight videos I watch, it looks like he's coming unblocked on most of the plays in them. That concerns me some. However, even from watching highlights, you can see the guy goes 100 mph on every down; that, I really like!
I gave it a B because there are other players I would have liked to have taken here, but I don't hate the pick. I didn't like it at the time, but I'm warming up to it now. |
Re: Redskins Made Smart Choice With Kerrigan
I cant wait to get a Kerrigan jersey. Not only is he from my favorite college, he is an awesome player. If you have seen my sig in awhile i said we should take kerrigan. We just picked oe pick earlier than i perdicted
