Re: Favre's Dirty Block?
Correct me, if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure you can block a guy at the waist or below *just like Favre did* as long as you're in front of him. The flag wasn't for any "dirty" or illegal block. The flag was for this:
Crackback: Eligible receivers who take or move to a position more than two yards outside the tackle may not block an opponent below the waist if they then move back inside to block. |

The flag was for a crackback, which is an illegal block. |
Re: Favre's Dirty Block?
Right -- legal block in any other situation. How then could it be dirty?
|
Re: Favre's Dirty Block?
I see now that I said the flag wasn't for any "illegal block". What I meant was that the flag wasn't for his blocking technique -- just a technicality really.

Re: Favre's Dirty Block?
It wasn't dirty to me.
For it to be dirty, I think there needs to be some sort of intent to injure. I don't see why Favre would be intentionally trying to injure anyone. |
Re: Favre's Dirty Block?
The biggest idiot is Childress
Give this 39 year old qb a guaranteed 15 mill Split him out wide and have him block a safety or lb Its just stupid |

Re: Favre's Dirty Block?
Favre went right at the side of the guy's knee. The dude wasn't even looking, everyone knows that if you dive into the side of someone's leg when their foot is planted, you're going to cause an injury. Favre deserved to get his ass kicked for that play.

Re: Favre's Dirty Block?
I don't think it was intentionally dirty. I think it was just awkward on Favre's part and he didn't really know what to do, and he sort of fell toward Wilson and then tried to slow down or back up.
I don't know why Childress is even lining him up at wide receiver in a preseason game. I understand they want to get Harvin involved in some wildcat formations. But I thought the whole reason you got Favre (old, injured Favre) because you wanted a legit QB who could lead your team and not have to resort to offensive gimmicks.
I could not have said it any better my self and if you have seen my grammer and spelling you know what I mean. I'll bet the onse saying it was dirty are the same people who have become Farve haters. |
Re: Favre's Dirty Block?
That was totally dirty. You don't block low like that. I mean, did you see how the guys knees buckled? Total cunt move!
I'm just wondering had Favre been in the pocket preparing to throw, and a defensive player came in and cross body blocked at/or below his knees' what the reaction would have been. Dirty or not dirty, these are the type plays that have often ended guys career's. A rule has been put in place to protect the QB from these type hits, and so it should be for any defenseless player. |
They would have thrown a flag on the defender for making illegal contact with Brady.
"Personal foul, making illegal contact with Tom Bra...er I mean quarterback. 25-yard penalty, automatic first down, a $10,000 fine, and a new QB rule."
It wasn't dirty to me. I don't see why Favre would be intentionally trying to injure anyone.
Especially if Favre could have easily gotten injured throwing the block. |
Re: Favre's Dirty Block?
I didnt think it was dirty, the guy wasnt looking where he was going.shame on him. we all know if he had his head around he would have tried to kill the ol man for getting in his way.
|
Re: Favre's Dirty Block?
When I say he deserves to have his ass kicked, it's not because it was intentionally dirty, but because it was a careless action that could have cost someone their career.

Re: Favre's Dirty Block?
Lets face it though, if this were Tavaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels, we would not have even known about it unless we saw it live.
Favre can spill his Gatorade and it's front page news for a week. |
