Ya, and I just saw the titans punter hit it. Something tells me that Goodell will send a letter to Jerry saying that he needs to raise it atleast 15 more yards, because this will be a problem for a lot of punters. This isn't a weather problem, this would go into the category of a fan storming the field type play. The unusual type condition, but fixable is what I'm trying to say. You can't have everything Jerry.

In a side note, I think I've seen everything in this game that you could see. A few one handed catches, a last second (literally), a false start everyone but the center call, helmets flying, and of course balls hitting an overly big TV screen.
i agree with this. They will have to crews out there during the week to have it raised by opening day. This would be such an embarrassment to the NFL otherwise.

The video board currently sits 90 feet above the ground, while the two Mitsubishi ads accompany each side of it making it 89 feet above the playing surface. The NFL mandates video boards must be at least 85 feet above the ground.

I kinda hope Jerry doesnt change it this year just because I find this absolutely hilarious. what person in there right mind wouldnt want to adjust it, especially since it sounds like it can be easily adjusted (as someone pointed out regarding the U2 concert). I mean is there any good reason not to adjust it, or is he just being stubborn for no apparent reason?

It was built for concerts in January.

I'm just happy that now when we play the Cowboys I don't have to see that ugly hunk of scrap metal known as Texas Stadium. Though I do find it funny that the screen is capable of blocking punts. By the way am I the only one freaked out about how it looks more like a.......I don't know some form of mental telepathy instead of a TV screen.

I don't get why he doesn't want to raise it... I mean the longer it stays the way it is, the dumber he looks

Maybe they used the Yankee's architect?

ESPN is reporting that the screen was installed actually several yards HIGHER than what the NFL mandated.

But now the NFL is looking into it deeper. It is estimated that it would cost an additional 2 million to raise the scooreboard. And I would bet that the NFL would have to share some of the cost.

If I were an NFL coach, I'd tell my punter to hit it as many times as possible till they raised it. All it will take is one five hour game for the NFL to get that thing raised.

Yeah i just read that about the 2 million. Thats the reason he doesnt want to move it. I think the league should pony up most of the cost if they want it to go up. I think that if that happens JJ should not expect anymore superbowls there, but at least he will be "right".

Re: Problem w/ Cowboys giant screen.

Looking at the 'Skins offensive stats for the first 2 weeks of preseason I notice that from the 2 games played thus far, the 'Skins have had a total of 22 offensive possessions.

And of the 22 offensive possessions only 6 have crossed the 50 yard line into the oppositions side of the field.

So yeah, I can certainly see your concern for punting.

Re: Problem w/ Cowboys giant screen.

why would the league have to foot some of the cost for raising the score board? Mr. Jones was the one who put it in the way. and 2 million to him is like 2 million to Snyder, a drop in the bucket
