Jets ink rushing leader Woodhead to free-agent deal

Chadron State running back Danny Woodhead, the NCAA's career rushing leader, signed a free-agent deal with the New York Jets on Sunday night, according to the player and his agent.

Agent Chris Gittings said he and Woodhead thought the Jets were a good fit after teams passed on the 5-foot-7½ running back during the draft, mostly because of his size. Woodhead ran for 7,962 yards in four seasons for the Division II school in western Nebraska.

Terms of the deal for the two-time Harlon Hill Trophy winner were not immediately disclosed, and the Jets would not confirm the signing.

"I'm more than happy with what I got," Woodhead said.
Yeah, that's him.
He's a big and fast CB, but I believe he's coming off an injury. Good story and I hope he gets a shot somewhere.

Yeah I read that story on Martel Van Zant as well, I wouldn't mind bringing him, but if we don't bring him in I hope he gets a shot somewhere else and is able to succeed, I always root for guys like that to make it.

Erin Henderson reunited with his big bro in Minny. That's pretty cool. I was shocked he wasn't drafted. He left school early too. Oops. Hope he catches on with the Vikes. I would have liked to sign him to bolster LB depth...

I wish him luck over there. When that boy gets healthy he is going to be a pro bowler.

Re: Official UDFA Signing Thread

My thread title is kind of inaccurate I think. Often times, these guys are invited to multiple camps to try out before actually being signed. That's probably what's happened with Henderson and the Vikings and Pats. So Vikings and Pats could both be right (or wrong).

I'm not sure what Puritanical school you attended, but I know an awful lot of 15 year olds who dated 18 year olds and none of the 18 year olds should be in prison. Dumb law and dumbass judge.
Not to bring it up again sorry. I did date someone younger and got caught. Thankfully the parent didn't hang me by my balls. Also times have changed and the law is different. No different then when we were young if caught with marijuana the police made you throw it out or wrote you a ticket and you paid a fine. Now you end up paying for an attorney, court cost, fine, drug court etc...

I started out with a simple joke about how people are holding CJ to a high standard but not other players. I was poking fun at some of the No to CJ fans. Did not mean to interupt a good thread. I don't always agree with the law but we all have to obey them. I don't agree with racism either. I'm sure the town has it's issues. I don't doubt the father is a racist. but if we were going to hold CJ to a huge standard due to his punching of a coach allegedly...then we should hold all the players (as fans) to the same standard. I personally don't care what the players do in their off time. I don't condemn Dallas for trying to get good talent. I think the whole witch hunt as someone mentioned is exactly that a witch hunt. The NFL should not be moral police. I can see drugs being an issue and steroids and major felonious crimes but they have gone over board with the morality issue. Same with some people on this board. Apologies for testing some peoples nerves. LOL. Hope all loved the draft.

You'd think they'd post all of the guys they signed on the website.

Yesterday on NFLN Charley Casserly was saying that sometimes you have a deal in place with an UDFA then before you get all the paperwork in place and official some other team comes in and your guy signs somewhere else. I think the announcements are held off until everything is official because even though you think you have a deal in place sometimes they fall apart at the last second.
