Re: Lavar and Giants agree on deal

I always hoped for LA to actually be as good as the hype. IMO he had the ability to be one of the very best but only played at that level once in awhile and it never lasted long enough. He talked "team" but many of his outbursts and difficulties in recent years to me said "me". He kind of became irrelevent to me last season. We just didn't need him and his mouth anymore.

I cannot think of many guys who have had difficulties on a Gibbs coached teams...Gibbs likes high character guys and will take care of them...his track record says his approach works. Arrington didn't fit into that mold. I think that had everything to do with him no longer being a Skin and thats good enough for me.

Just my opinion though.

Wow read this L.A. suckfest from Carucci over at nfl.com
April 22, 2006) -- The Giants' signing of LaVar Arrington could very well prove to be the single best acquisition in this year's free-agent market.

Arrington still ranks as one of the most talented linebackers -- and one of the best players at any position -- in the NFL. I have the utmost respect for the job Gregg Williams has done in building a highly successful defense in Washington, and that clearly didn't require much help from Arrington. But just because Arrington might not have been a good fit for Williams' highly structured scheme does not mean he is incapable of thriving elsewhere. Frankly, after so much acrimony in his relationship with the Redskins, a change of scenery might just be what Arrington needs to help him regain the difference-making form he displayed earlier in his career.

Ex-Skins LaVar Arrington is ready to flex his muscles against his former team in NFC East battles.
Arrington means much more to the Giants than a plug for the huge hole they had had at weak-side linebacker. In joining ends Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora, and middle linebacker Antonio Pierce, he completes what could very well be the most dominant defensive front in the league. When healthy and focused, Arrington is capable of taking over a game. As a pass-rusher, he relies on an explosive first step that allows him to consistently beat opponents off the snap. Against the run, he has the speed and athleticism to make plays from sideline to sideline and catch runners from behind.

Of course, the Giants were wise to sign him to a contract that is heavy with incentives, and, therefore, protects them in case Arrington's knee acts up or he again becomes unhappy with his surroundings. Given the structure of the deal, my sense is that Arrington understands he has an excellent opportunity to revitalize his career and whether that happens is going to be mostly up to him.

If it does, this pickup could easily help swing the balance of power in the NFC East in the direction of the Giants and enhance their chances of being a serious postseason contender in 2006.

I bolded the parts that suck. Now i'm a big lavar fan, and even though he plays for the giants now, i still wish that he will have a good season, but carucci is acting like lavar never had any knee injuries, is still as explosive as he was earlier in his career, and is one of the best linebackers to play the game, which as we all saw post injury, he isn't.
Can we stop arguing about the same old crap, about if LaVar is good in our eyes, bc he left, and whatnot. Its over ppl stop going on and on about how he didnt love the skins, sheez you guys are acting like you just got dumped by Kelly in the 6th grade, bringing up how she didnt love you ever living minute. The issue at hand right now is, LaVar's new deal, its terms, etc. He was a good player for us, tried hard, good guy for the fans and community, did LOVE the skins, had trouble with the handful of coaches over the years, and left bc of the conflicts that came up in his situation that were not all HIS fault. We all know what happened was for the best (damn now even I sound like your best bud conforting you after you got dumped), so just let it freaking go.
I am quoting my own post, bc you guys need to end this LaVar bitching crap, it really is lame. I understand if you talk bout him, his salary, how he did hear, etc, but quit complaining about him, its like people revolve around him here. Biggest bunch of hypocrites in this thread, because you all are saying im sick and tired of this LaVar talk, this and that, but then next post you guys are bitching about how he was all about the money....
Not good. But if anyone will know how to exploit him it will be Gibbs / Williams. I am worried about him and Pierce and our signals, though.
Assuming that he knows our signals.
Hell of a LB, too bad the knee injury has slowed him down though,,,
he's only a threat on 1st and 2nd down.. why not pick up Ahmad Brooks in the supplamental draft and we'd forget all about #56
Good Idea, do we have a first round Supp Pick even though we traded away our first rounder because they use the same order as the draft in April.
Although I doubt if many teams will take the risk of drafting in the first round and forfeit their first rounder in 07'. But this guy has first round talent.

I don't like it , as I've said before he can't and won't stay healthy .Even when he is he's not that good, and awful lot of very good defensive coachs have tried to work with him and failed .We should have moved up to get Hawk or Carpenter and bring in Harry Carson to coach them! Have fun watching Lavar turn 5 yard dumps to the fullback into 30 yard gains.

I cant believe all the hating i'm reading about lavar, lavar was a great player for us and he did nothing wrong to deserve this disrespect,he gave us back 4 million to get out,who else has done that?(not to mention ending a cowboys career, what other redskin has done that?)he wasnt the player he once was last yr,but so what,he loved the redskins but shit happens,we should wish him luck,(just not against us)art monk, gary sanders, charlie brown, mark mosely, they all went to other teams, great redskins, did you talk shit about them?just because they were let go by the skins instead of leaving on their own terms shouldnt matter.Just because a former player leaves the team shouldnt be an excuse to pile on him and say he sucks, you should show some respect for a former redskin

You think the current Lavar can catch Brunell?

Re: Lavar and Giants agree on deal

All I got to say about this is Lavar didnt want to stay, so just like 50/50, L. Coles and many others good riddance. Hes still a decent player, but not as fast as he was 2 seasons ago. I don't hate em, but hes not on my team anymore.
Definitely a huge pickup for the Giants who needed someone at that position. What number will he wear?

I object to you putting Monk, Sanders, Brown and Mosely (NFL MVP) in the same sentence with Lavar. They are champions and that is their legacy. Lavar's legacy is based on what should have been. He didn't even win a division title let alone a Lombardi trophy. He signs the largest deal in team history and then publicly complains that he was cheated out of 6.5 million. Last year he didn't even record one sack and when the team is preparing for the playoff game he tries to make his situation the public focus. He had no problem cashing that check every week and making stupid Eastern motors commercials when the team was the laughing stock of the league. Then he goes out of his way to play for a division rival.

Why does he deserve respect, because he gave Aikman his 20th concussion during a loss?
