Orton won't make us much better unless.... we get J.B or A couple good FA WRs

Mike Florio just can't help himself. Did Snyder sue him or something?
Florio Claims Skins Are “In Bad Shape” « CBS Washington Profootballtalk and NBC Sports’ Mike Florio joined “The Sports Junkies” on 106.7 The Fan while at radio row in Indianapolis, IN during Super Bowl week and spoke candidly about the direction he thinks the Redskins are going. When asked point-blank if he thought the Skins were heading in the right direction, Florio responded immediately with, “No.” Asked if he though the franchise was treading water he replied, “treading water would be a compliment right now.” Some fans and pundits think Peyton Manning could be the remedy to cure the mediocrity that has been ailing D.C. Florio predicted it could make matters worse. “Peyton Manning’s not going to want to play quarterback in an offense where the guy that’s running it has a joystick in his hand and wants the quarterback to do exactly what he wants the quarterback to do,” Florio said. ”Peyton Manning would strap Kyle Shanahan to a goal post with Duct Tape within a week,” he added. |

RGIII. Haven't had this much want for a player since Sean Taylor in '04.

PM is not going....anywhere he does not want to go. And I am confident he and the MS/KS duo would have a...few words over similar issues before striking a deal. It would surprise me if he wanted to come to DC because developmentally we are not far enough along. He is getting a little long in the tooth. He needs a team that is ready to go SB...Sans QB-Enter PM. BTW, I have heard a number of X-coaches and players strongly suggest the MS is taking care of business in regard to Skins makeover. Like Gruden, Schlereth, Jaws, etc WTF....Florio's probably right |
Because I can, I am going to list the free agent quarterbacks by age (youngest to oldest). If we can get a guy who is 26 or 27, that gives you a legit chance to find your quarterback without going to the draft. If you get a guy who is 30, you're getting someone who is going to be looking over their shoulder.
Age is of December 31, 2012 1. Josh Johnson, 26 2. Dennis Dixon, 27 3. Matt Flynn, 27 4. Caleb Hanie, 27 5. Chad Henne, 27 6. Brady Quinn, 28 7. Alex Smith, 28 8. Drew Stanton, 28 9. Derek Anderson, 29 10. Kellen Clemens, 29 11. Dan Orlovsky, 29 12. Vince Young, 29 13. Jason Campbell, 30 14. Kyle Orton, 30 15. Charlie Whitehurst, 30 16. Kyle Boller, 31 17. J.P. Losman, 31 18. Luke McCown, 31 19. Shaun Hill, 32 20. Rex Grossman, 32 21. Byron Leftwich, 32 22. Drew Brees, 33 23. David Carr, 33 24. Josh McCown, 33 25. David Garrard, 34 26. Sage Rosenfels, 34 27. A.J. Feeley, 35 28. Chris Redman, 35 29. Donovan McNabb, 36 30. Jake Delhomme, 37 31. Charlie Batch, 38
You can do both, and should do both. Take a FA or 2 and draft a QB or 2. It should be a combo. To not draft QB at this time would be extremely negligent and the most foolish thing ive ever heard. |
Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
get flynn, henne, or orton AND sign another QB (prefer luck/RGIII). If you need a QB, get two... hopefully one of them works out.

Well after reading this, I think we can cross manning off our list (not that he would be good/come here anyway)

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
I think, just like every quarterback will be linked to the Redskins, Manning will be linked to every team in need of a QB.

I've been rubbing a garden gnome's head, crossing my fingers and searching for four leaf clovers in hopes that Manning goes to Cleveland.

I'd be shocked, disappointed and somewhat dumbfounded to see Manning "sell out" and come play for this coaching regime. Peyton never struck me as a money beats all kind of guy. If he plays I really think it's to win more rings, which he deserves more than his little brother lol. Florio is stating his opinion as a fact, but my guess is his opinion has 80% likeliehood of facthood when this regime finally passes. I cannot for the life of me see whatever the kool-aid drinkers are seeing about Mike and Kyle's little adventure here. |
Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
My issue is that if we're going to be mired in mediocrity, we have to be willing to take seasons like the one we just took. As a fan base, while we've been patient after our last Super Bowl win, we have been far too vocal and impatient when it comes to coaching/owners/players.
I 100% guarantee that if we get a new QB and he doesn't perform at a Pro Bowl level and maybe we go 7-9 or 8-8, Skins fans will go apeshit. |

If so, I say yeah. Year 1 though? Nah, or at least I wouldn't. Btw I'm thinking of switching from my iphone to boost mobile. |

Btw I'm thinking of switching from my iphone to boost mobile.
Well, do you think two straight years of 8-8 while still adding quality youth is acceptable? I mean I do, and I think a lot of us here are willing to be patient, but the fan base as a whole, especially the DC media will start putting tons of pressure. We're talking about the Texans in another thread and they're a PERFECT example of teams who put together quality seasons even though their records weren't amazing, they stayed the course as an organization and as a fan base. |
