Oh...never mind then Seriously though, a former NFL scout once told me (before he was whisked away on cocaine and child pornography charges)-an ideal NFL depth chart is 1. Solid/ideally Franchise level starter 2. Veteran back-up who can step in in a pinch 3. Developmental QB to groom for the future All we have right now (assuming we don't bring back Donovan), in my opinion, is 2 who we're forcing to be 1...I don't even know what Beck is |

By the way, this year it's your responsibility to start your favorite thread of the year. You can decide if you want to assume free agency/trades will happen or not; or wait until the courts decide |

I suppose if I didn't answer in the affirmative, it would give the impression that this is prevalent among NFL scouts |

I'm now going to start a campaign for UDFA QB Adam Froman...so I can get a jersey that says A.Froman (I won't put any spaces on the jersey) |
Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
I don't think were gonna get DeAngelo Williams like id really hoped because we picked up 80 rbs in the draft....
WE MUST resign Santana of course. But to be honest, id take Randy Moss or Plaxico Burress. If either could keep they're mouth shut, accept they're roll, accept how the QB/teams doing whatever they're doing, they'd be a great pickup. |

I'd rather we stay away from both of them but if we do go after one I would rather it be Plax |

Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
Exactly, as long as we're in a rebuilding phase with virtually no chance at a deep playoff run, might as well take our chances with the young guy, especially considering how it burned us with akers.
besides, gano is awesome for me in madden...
So is McNabb. :D Heck, I had Jason Campbell up to a 97 rating with an MVP award and Pro Bowls for a few years straight and traded him to New England for picks so I could try out McNabb. :hitfan: Portis retired on me so I signed a FA named Ray Rice. |
Re: Free Agency/Franchise Tag thread 2011
I think we need to look to our draft picks to see who we will get in FA. I think Jarvis Jenkins we are looking to play NT in the not too distant future. Signing Franklin would require a long term commitment, which just wouldn't make sense to us.
Shanahan likes his own which makes Ryan Harris a good candidate to sign. I think Shanny wants winners/good locker room guys to change the culture of our club so I'm thinking James Jones would be a good signing (probably going to overpay for him though). All other WR's are older, or have some sort of red flag or question mark regarding them. Thinking along those same lines, I think we will offer Jenkins a contract, but I do not think it will be as long term as Jones's, but I think it will be a rich contract. We already signed Otagwe so I don't see us signing another secondary member. I do think we will be aggressive in re-shaping our team this year. Carlos WILL NOT be back (I think we will re-sign buchanon). I doubt Moss will (why would he opt out of a rich contract if he didn't want to move?), and Rocky will only be here for the long run if we get lucky and nobody offers him the right deal. To sum it up our core players I predict will be gone and I expect us to be aggressive to get what we want in FA to accomplish things that will help us out in the short term, and help change the culture without taking up too much cap space a few years down the road on old guys. |
