i agree but i am not sure EB is all that bad I think we have something in Sam and EB what exactly we have i am unsure because the parts around them are so broken It is equal to asking Richard Petty to race the Daytona 500 with a honda civic; he was a amazing driver but i mean in a civic what is he going to do |

I'm so over EB. I'd show his ass the door. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
I don't see them benching SH unless he has another 4 INT Game this week

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Yesterday was the 1st game where I was more pessimistic about Howell than optimistic.
He didn't look good. But he's young, and has a bad playcaller and terrible line, so he's behind the 8 ball even on his best days. I still think he has the talent to be a solid starter in this league. But if we finish with a top 10 pick, I wouldn't blame the new GM for drafting their guy at QB. Then we would have a great backup for at least 2 more seasons at a discount rate, or possibly trade him for a top half of the draft pick. |

After that day I kinda figured he was a true 5th RD pick |

I don't know how you could justify rating him any higher than just flat out bad. He's 100% predictable, and hasn't made one adjustment all year. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
When you have no running game and shitty play calling, then you are not helping your QB and put it all on him. Last year with BRob coming back from being shot our running game was way better than this year. Our run blocking is atrocious, if BRob gains 5 yards EB will go for a pass, run the fucking ball and make it manageable. Shuffle the OL and replace Gates, Wylie and Leno.

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
I think yesterday was the first game where the pressure got to Howell mentally. In previous games, despite the sacks he was still throwing with great accuracy. Maybe its cumulative, high sack rates have ruined many a good young QB.

I sure as hell would not want to get hit by 300+ lb men over and over and over and over and over and over. The line should be absolutely embarrassed of themselves. Getting their QB butchered. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Beyond absolutely deteriorating as the season progresses, I don't know how we can truly tell how good or bad he is with this coaching staff (and I include EB at this point). Its like gauging how good a 100M sprinter is while running with resistance bands around their legs. Maybe he's just another serviceable starter, but maybe he's more and just needs the right people around him. Seems writing him off already, especially with this staff and OL is way premature.

I just hope they don't not hire a GM/HC unless they will sign-off on keeping Howell as the starter. I like Howell, but I want the GM/HC to bring in their own QB if they aren't sold on Howell. Then just trust that they will get it right. I still keep Howell as a back-up, unless someone offered a 3rd or higher. Possibly even a 2nd or higher, if he looks more like he did against Philly and less like NYG as the season progresses. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Howell looks good on sprint outs and when he isn't getting pounded. Also, like the whole team, he looks better in the 2nd half and unprepared in the first, that is coaching.

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
EB definitely needs to get him out of the pocket more, use more designed QB runs here and there (he's getting hit anyway), more max protection, less shotgun runs up the middle, how bout some WR sweeps, when they have 9 defenders on the line of scrimmage...mix it up damnit!

If he starts out slow this week I'd put in Jacoby. Had the Giants caught that walk in INT Ron should have sat him. That was an inexcusable pass. |
