Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
Some people here need to understand that franchise QB's are the hardest thing to find in the NFL.
When we offer up Orakpo, we're offering up a player that can be found draft, after draft, after draft. Pass rushers can be found not only in the first round, but a very few some have been found in the later rounds and undrafted.
Absotively. And people also fail to realize that when you trade a high-priced player, you save his contract, which gives you cap room to sign a replacement (whether at his position or elsewhere). Trading Orakpo would result in a net hit of about 1 mil this year, save almost 6 mil in 2013, and then he would be a FA anyway and command a contract that will probably average 9-12 mil per year. That is cap space the team can use. Probably won't be a popular choice to bring up, but you could probably easily sign Anthony Spencer with that dough, with leftovers. Now, I don't think he is in Orakpo's class, but is the drop-off enough to dissuade you from getting a franchise QB? Not me. |

When we are offering up 3rd, 4th, 5th rounders for a potential franchise QB. Picks (3,4,5) that are worth less and less in value for a potential QB, the Key to winning in this QB driven league; you make that trade, screw those picks for this year. This is the year you get that franchise QB at whatever cost it is.
I agree 100%. I don't understand how some people think we're going to give up some marginal picks and a ham sandwich and trade up for a franchise qb. If we trade up, it's gonna hurt. But it's worth it to get the franchise QB. The only disclaimer I have is that if you trade away lots of high picks, you sure as hell better land a franchise qb and not a Jason Campbell |

Im worried about Peyton's health but if he is good I say try to grab him. I love RG3 but we need so much Im not sure if trading up is a good idea. I think its going to be Kyle Orton and Rex Grossman in 2012.
Part of me says, "Jump all over that scenario and don't think twice."
The part of me which feels that fans and draft sites value RGIII more highly than NFL front office types says, "RGIII will be there at 6 so there's no point."
I feel he will be too. |
Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
Where'd you see that. And probably yes. I'm assuming we get no QB in FA in this scenario, no starting QB that is
Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
That's not what I asked.
agreed. But what I'm trying to tell you is that that's no longer a "potential scenario" as the 2nd draft position will not be made available to the redskins by the rams. |
Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
So I just saw this potential trade scenario:
Redskins get: 2012 2nd overall pick: RGIII Rams get: 2012 6th overall pick 2013 1st rounder 2013 3rd rounder 2013 5th rounder You guys still feel that's too much?
I'd do that deal in a heartbeat (providing that Mike and crew loved him), but there isn't a snowballs chance in hell that St. Louis would give us that deal. It would require more picks this year. Those 2013 are really worthless in the current state. Picks don't hold much value unless it's in the present. That's when they are like gold. |

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
would you trade our 2013 1st round pick for the dolphins 2013 1st round pick?
would you trade our 2013 1st round pick for the dolphins 2013 1st round pick?
That's a difficult proposition because who knows the value. When do you make this trade? Hardly anyone makes that just because. Honestly, if you think about it, the value of those picks is potentially a wash. |

somewhat off topic here but I would always makes these types of trades in Madden in like week 6 with the worst teams....sorry dont want to put this thread off topic but I wanted to share. |
Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
i would make that trade with the dolphins right now
|
Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
hell, it would add fire to a rivalry. if we traded all 2013 picks round for round to the cowboys. not in this day and age, players don't care as much as they used to. sorry that this was off topic

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
Two Colts Dr.'s have now cleared Manning. If he becomes a FA I say we get him and build through the draft around him. No trading up.

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
Am I the only one that thinks that Peyton (the greatest QB of all time IMO), doesn't fit a shanahan system offense? I mean c'mon he is probably the slowest, or close to it, QB in the league. Imagine him doing a play action bootleg. You have to be athletic. He does that and bang he's hit before he even looks at a WR and his neck is probably gonners.
I think we're peytons 3,4th option if he gets cut and I think he's our 3,4th option if we don't get the other QB's we want. I also find it a little odd that yesterday he did an interview with Trey Wingo and he didn't flat out say "I'm feeling 100%, no doubt about it, I have feelings all throughout my arms and legs." He said "I'm feeling better but I still have a little ways to go" Now all of a sudden he's been cleared!?!? Doesn't make sense to me... |
