Man is this movie strange. Not bad though. Halfway through. Will watch the other half tomorrow night

So I finished The Perfect Host yesterday. Solid flick. I suspect itvnetop will watch it. Felt more maybe could have done with it, but then it would get potentially into that dangerous "is this movie going to end soon" territory
Pleasant surprise to see Jill Clayburgh in Bridesmaids as well. Think that was probably her last role, right?
Jill Clayburgh played in Bridesmaid? I have to see it, I heard it was good.

I've been saying a ton of flicks lately, I need to catch up in this thread.

But.....I highly recommend True Grit and Social Network for those of you who haven't seen either movie. Interestingly, the twins in the movie dropped their Supreme Court case against Zuck yesterday.

For you war flick buffs, Restrepo was gripping and well done.

Anyone rising with apes this weekend? It's got some ridiculous reviews, thus far... some calling it the best action flick of the summer.

Saw Cowboys and Aliens today.
Not a great flick but a pretty good one.
More Cowboys than Aliens but pretty good.
Daniel Craig was very good.
Good cinemetography too.

It was way better than I thought it would be when I first heard about it getting made. I'll actually be looking very much forward to the next one.

Also just got back from seeing Horrible Bosses and my sides hurt a bit from laughing so hard at times. Definitely worth a watch if you don't mind raunchy comedies. And holy crap can Jennifer Aniston still get it!!

great flick. i consider my self a harsh critic of these remakes. remember all of the originals, and loved them. but this was done well, with crazy special effects

saw party monsters the other night. real good flick for anyone who used to go to raves in the 80s n 90s. had macauly caulkin, seth green, dylan mcdermott, the gay guy in my so called life and fez from that 70s show.

true story, looked up some interviews and real footage of the parties they threw of the real people and the actors/director did an amazing job in authenticity. alot of people think lady gaga bite her style from the real life main character michael alig, who is in jail but is coming up for parole in 2012.

Apparently a Point Break remake is in the works. Personally I don't think I'm going to be that excited about it, simply because nobody can replace The Swayze. And I feel confident in saying this remake will probably be overloaded with excessive CGI. Aka this will be another attempt to remake a classic movie so you can pilfer more hard earned money from people. But then again some of the blame has to go to the people willing to pay to see these remakes in the first place.

Anybody interested in Moneyball? I gotta say, it looks good from the previews, and the article I read about it in SI was great as well. I think I'm gonna have to see that eventually. 50/50 looks good as well too. I wish I could say the same about Killer Elite but that looks like your status quo Jason Statham film.

I saw Bridesmaids against my semi-dissenting will the other day, and I gotta say it was actually pretty funny. Definitely not your tediously boring standard chick flick about getting married. I loved the flight scene, I thought that was absolutely hilarious. Very well done on that one, I like the new direction that movie took us in.
F unnecessary remakes
Exactly. Is Point Break really so old that it needs to be remade? It's not like Dawn of the Dead where enough time had passed and technology advanced enough to warrant the 2004 version.

[YT]PpuNE1cX03c[/YT][YT]HpjNdQQJirA[/YT]

or another movie/story that was due for a remake.
[YT]tyWjTiEQGbM[/YT][YT]wDiUG52ZyHQ[/YT]

Seriously I'm seeing nothing here to justify a remake.

Getting to remakes.

They are now making a remake of a remake. The Thing.

The Thing from Another World 1951
The Thing 1982
The Thing 2011

Can anyone in Hollywood think up anything new for god's sake?

Hahaha... seriously, Carpenter's is a classic. But for some reason, I'll still go see this. So will you mred- it's in our horror nature to do so!

They're also remaking the French horror film Martyrs with Kristen Stewart. I don't know how American audiences are going to take this one...

Also not sure how Spike Lee's Oldboy is going to remain faithful to the Korean version without offending audiences stateside.

As long as you know what to expect from a Soderbergh flick, you'll dig it. It's pretty heady and I guess I wasn't expecting that when I saw it. Very realistic look at the fallout from such an outbreak.

i was watching tv with my lady the other night. she said something about "finally theres a tv show i might want to watch", i dont know wasnt really paying attention, i think some new show commercial came on. i went on this 5 minute rant about how network tv sucks nowadays becuase its all reality tv crap which costs less to produce and how middle america and those fat ****s from wisconsin are ruining tv for the rest of us because they watch whatever marketed crap hollywood wants to spoon feed them at the expense of east and west coast TV watching folk who dont get represented enough b/c everyone assumes we are actually out doing something in the city or world like we are all castmemebers of Friends and dont live in middle of nowhere america were a friday night out is a 2 hour stroll through walmart.

gosh dang people, what im trying to say is, if we east and west coast people stayed home more on the weeknights, skipped a few happy hours and actually started watching TV before 9 pm we wouldnt have our shows like arrested development canceled all the gosh damn time and we wouldnt have twelve versions of freakin ameican idol or fat farm to choose from.

put your asses back on the couch people, thats why we paid all that money for them.

I REALLY liked the first book (Dragon Tattoo), it reminded me a bit of the Hannibal Lector series, but the other two weren't nearly as good. They just sort of dragged on.
