Last month who would have thought the Skins would have gotten more for Howell that the Bears would for Fields?
It seems like Poles did not handle the Fields trade well. Makes me wonder if the dumb Bears ownership got involved in the process and screwed up the timing of the deal. |
Re: Sam Howell Traded
people fall in love with mediocre QBs all the time, we saw it with cult brennan, patrick ramsey, colt mccoy, etc.
we flipped a 5th rounder into a high 4th/low 3rd and got some cheap years of service. The bears took the #11 overall pick and got significantly less. (part of this is that low completion % tends to mean bad nfl qb) We're getting a huge upgrade, and if SH works out decently in seattle, that's great for him/them. he has lower end starter potential, he's actually pretty good on bombs, can make some things happen, but the time to release and reading defenses part needs a lot of work.
It’s because we haven’t had competent play consistent for a long time. And the 2 guy we had, the owner didn’t like…cousins and Brad Johnson. So yeah it’s true what you said, but the fan base is hungry. It’s kinda disappointing lotta of the talking heads around skins media not bring this up…but not “hot take-y” enough I guess. |
So if the Texans felt this way about CJ Stroud and Davis Mills they would have been called stupid right?
sounds like youre convincing yourself that Sam Howell is something he just isnt.
There's only one way to find out and the franchise is ready to gamble. So be it hope for the best. They're paid to make these decisions, whether I agree or not doesn't matter but my gut says it's gonna be Rocky. But here's to hoping |
Re: Sam Howell Traded
seattle thinks he is .. the GM was praising Sam on his toughness and ability.. i hope he plays lights out !

Re: Sam Howell Traded
fields nixed 3 trades per a report, so that's probably a big part of it.

Not sure how the "nixing trades" thing works. A clause in his contract? |

Poles said that they ran trades by Fields because they wanted him to have a say and do right by him. I suspect the other deals weren’t as good or maybe slight better than what the Steelers offered at most. Still, if that’s accurate, may have helped placate his teammates who wanted him to stay. dunno, I don't think he had a no trade, but he could refuse to sign an extension or no show offseason stuff if it was something he really didn't want (or fail the physical). That wouldn't be setting himself up for success. Team may have also gotten similar enough offers that it didn't matter that much. Steelers are a good landing spot for him though (imo). |
Re: Sam Howell Traded
I think the biggest thing w/ a lot of fans is they think the book is written on a guy after a short sample size. The same comments about Kirk are pretty similar to Sam. Not saying he can or will turn out to be as good as Kirk has been, which is a top half of the league starter, but he is still a young QB. Kirk got a long enough leash to play through his ups and downs. I can't think of a worse situation for a QB then the one Sam was in.
When Sam was dealing everyone here said " we got our guy" .. well except jamf.. Schneider saw the value and potential. Isn't he one of the best GM's around? If Daniels or Maye puts up Sam's numbers most would be ok w/ it. |

Re: Sam Howell Traded
Titans get LaJarius Snead for a 3rd and a 7th pick swap

Re: Sam Howell Traded
Good luck Sam as hope you will be treated better in Seattle!

And a lot of cash. But still, not a lot of draft capital gained there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
we are all arm chair QBs
Adam Peters is a professional and one the best at his job Adam decide to trade SH for basically a wash or slight upgrade and the only team to draft him was us in the 5th round by a notoriously bad talent evaluator in RR that is all you need to know about SH chances of being a franchise QB; he will be a solid back up for yaers and honestly that is pretty damn good for a 5th rounder
This |

Agreed. Sam is who he is and it won't change regardless of the situation he finds himself in. |
Re: Sam Howell Traded
I think it is foolish to say the guy will never be a starter in the league, or he is who he is. He played for an absolute joke of a coaching staff and had an absolute joke of a team around him. Peters traded Sam because of this particular draft class of quarterbacks coming out, and because we have the number two pick. Doesn’t take a genius to figure out we are in line to draft an extremely highly regarded quarterback. Like I said before I hope Sam becomes the second best quarterback in the league behind whoever we take at number 2 named Jayden Daniels.

Re: Sam Howell Traded
Let him go buddy. It’s time.

Re: Sam Howell Traded
He'll be fine and he will take the starting job from Geno within 2 seasons max and next time we play he will whip our ass. .....
Would be a guarantee the last 20+ years. The newly found optimism for our franchise says otherwsie I'm happy to say. Here's to hoping! Oh but that part about sam being fine and getting a starting job still remains what I believe will happen. |
Re: Sam Howell Traded
Wishing Howell the best, I think he's a baller and just needed more coaching and protection. I'll be rooting for him!
