Re: Fire Ron Rivera Now - Post Game Thread
Watching that today (wasn't staying up all night here to watch it) I've changed my mind about firing RR (and JDR) during the season. Do it now. We could not look any worse with part time high school coaches in charge.
I'd hand over the reins to EB and tell him it's his HC interview. Get his guys in, especially a new young inventive DC. This is 99% coaching. The team is slow out of the gate; coaching. Vanilla defensive schemes and looks; coaching. Poor adjustment; coaching. Poor discipline; coaching. Poor execution; coaching. Poor drafting; coaching (let's face it, RR is the de facto GM). At least EB seemed to show some meaningful adjustment at HT the last 2 weeks. But he's got questions to answer too. Barely running the ball. Not giving SH a mobile pocket out of the gate. Not scheming up his best WRs open. Empty backfields. Chicago came out attacking and showing creative play calling on D. We were the opposite. Let's hope ownership saw all that and realise today they may as well cut their losses before the season is over. |
Re: Fire Ron Rivera Now - Post Game Thread
2023 outside free agents signed by the Commanders:
Drew Himmelman (OT): One-year deal: $750,000 - WHO? Marcus Kemp (WR/ST): One-year deal: $1.01 million - WHO? Andrew Wylie (OT): Three-year deal: $24 million - FLAMING, WHITE-HOT GARBAGE Nick Gates (OL): Three-year deal, $8 million guaranteed - FLAMING, WHITE-HOT GARBAGE Cameron Dantzler Sr. (CB): Claimed off waivers - WHO? Cody Barton (LB): One-year deal, $3.5 million guaranteed - FLAMING, WHITE-HOT GARBAGE Brissett (QB): One-year deal, $7.5 million guaranteed - GOOD BACK-UP QB, I STILL LIKE THIS SIGNING 2023 draft-picks by the Commanders: 1. Forbes - BENCHED 5 GAMES INTO THE SEASON 2. Martin - A FUCKING GHOST. IS HE AN ACTUAL PERSON? 3. Stromberg - CAN'T GET ON THE FIELD OVER THE DOGSHIT WE CURRENTLY HAVE OUT THERE 4. Daniels - BEING STASHED ON AN INJURED LIST BECAUSE HE FUCKING SUCKS 5. Henry - I HAVEN'T HEARD HIS NAME ONCE THIS SEASON 6. Rodriguez - HASN'T GOT HARDLY ANY OPPORTUNITIES, BUT WON'T JUDGE HIM YET 7. Jones Jr. - WE HAVE HEARD GOOD THINGS, BUT HASN'T PLAYED MUCH DUE TO ROSTER, SEEMS LIKE A GOOD 7TH ROUND PICK This what our loser GM got us this year. This year is a complete throw away due to Rivera's utter incompetence at every job he holds here. GET RID OF THIS LOSER! There are probably some more outside FA's, but they weren't on the list I was looking at. |

He'd be in way over his head. Unfortunately, there's no good answers at this point. Fire Jack is a start though, and makes the most sense to me. |

When you lose to the worst team in the NFL, at home, by 3 scores...that makes you now the worst team in the NFL. Yep, things are bad. |

Possible that EB is ignoring RRs instructions at HT? Can he be worse than RR? Maybe he can get the team ready for games better? What have we got to lose? |

For the offensive game plan? No, I don't think RR has anything to do with that. I am of the opinion that yes, it can get worse. We could lose our young promising QB to injury. Sooner or later one of these 5+ sacks per game is going to sideline him for a while. |

looked completely lost out there last night!! at a minimum needs to be benched for a while and brought along very slow, because he is nowhere near ready to compete at this level right now. |

I miss Gregg Williams and him pressuring the QB. Making the opposing QB uncomfortable and throwing the ball when he doesn't want to. I hope the next DC is from that mold.

From the looks of it, Forbes can't play on this level. He ain't got it. He just isn't physical enough. Isn't strong enough. Danny Johnson looked like he wanted to compete. Put him in there. |

When a defense gives up 40 points, they are all lost, especially their leader. Like I said, Forbes is an easy target, but he is by no means the problem. He needs to be coached up, he needs to be communicated to, and he needs to play. |

I think he's being scapegoated by many Washington fans. I like him and still believe he'll be fine. The defense has numerous issues, of course, Forbes being one, but there are others amongst the d-line, LBs, and secondary who deserves some blame. I think we'll all agree that our biggest detriment are JDR and Rivera, defensively. |

Either poor talent evaluation or poor coaching.... I believe I know the game well enough to see it's the latter. |

Don't know what people expect out of Harris. Dude like just took over the team right before the season began. This is evaluation mode right now. I'm pretty sure barring some drastic turnaround, ending with us going deep in the playoffs, Ron will be let go in the off-season. I don't expect any moves to be made at this point and time, and don't want them to. The off-season is a different story. The first day of the new season, Ron and the entire crew (including GM/talent evaluators/etc) need to be gone. |
Re: Fire Ron Rivera Now - Post Game Thread
This is the typical and unchanging pattern of a Ron Rivera coached team.....yes there are a lot of games left.....but this is the 4th straight season where the team is under .500 before half the season is over......they are looking like a 7 or 8 win team yet again.....how many times are we going to watch this movie ? History says that Ron will not finish above .500......sure they can finish 10-7 or even 11-6 but how likely is that ?

I would definitely like to see JDR fired, but I understand it's not going to happen. However, if Atlanta scores 30 on us after 10 days of "preparation" and thinking about this loss, I want them all gone. |
Re: Fire Ron Rivera Now - Post Game Thread
Decision may be taken out of Rivera's hands if not now, certainly if we haemorrhage points again. Harris could easily get fed up of the bad press and the earache from his partners and decide to step in. Question is whether RR would say he'd go too if they forced him to fire JDR, and if so, whether Harris would back down. I suspect he wouldn't and they'd both be on the street.
