Why would they be talking about a name change right now anyways? Makes zero sense. I have said all along, at some point, when the time is right, Commanders is gone.
Agree, for optics they will keep Wright around til after the new season and for Ron it will take a deep playoff run for a new contract. |
Re: 2023 Commies training camp thread
Interior OL is becoming intriguing, aside from Mason Brooks I heard Logan Paulsen today say that the OT they signed from the XFL was moved inside to guard after failing at OT and was looking good running with the 2nd string OL. Difficult to see how they can keep everyone with maybe only 10 OL places on the roster, wonder how they keep Charles if he doesn't win the starting job or Daniels as a project if they end up losing some promising guys elsewhere

We sure about that ? Firing a HC mid-season, unless the said season is a disaster, rarely is a productive thing to do, but wouldn't getting your business people in place ASAP be a smart move ? (ASAP not being right now, but during this season to give them a headstart) |

Why not right now? The sooner there are no more Snyder minions in management positions the better it will be for all concerned. A little Febreeze might help, as well. |

Yes I saw that, it was Bram that said he couldn't see a place for Daniels on the roster and that he might get cut, which would be a shocking waste of a 4th round pick. The hubris of NFL front offices wont let them cut him so early, so we are likely to lose a more promising player, albeit from the back end of the roster. The new owners wont be impressed. |

Haha good point. I guess you could say new ownership wouldn't want to be, nor be looking like they are, rushing such a hire. Plus finding and picking the right person has to actually take a bit of time. Maybe they also don't want to have the whole building feeling like they are blindly going to fire everybody. And to some extent they actually have to evaluate everybody's job before they go full Vince McMahon... But yeah, personally, I don't need to see Jason Wright hanging out here too much longer. |

He had better leave the offense to EB and let him develop Sam if he wants to keep his job for the entire 2023 season. He's gone in 2024 no matter what. But if he stays out of EB's way in 2023, he may be offered a nice front office job with the team when EB is promoted to HC.
Facts. |
Re: 2023 Commies training camp thread
John Keim
@john_keim Not working in full team drills today: TE Logan Thomas (calf), G Saahdiq Charles (calf), RB Curtis Samuel (leg). CB Emmanuel Forbes is taking reps. Thomas, Charles, Samuel injured….or as I refer to them, the usual suspects |
Re: 2023 Commies training camp thread
Oline still scares me. So does Ron. Luckily EB is here to run the offense and Sam has wheels.
|
Re: 2023 Commies training camp thread
Charles is always hurt and might just suck altogether, and Daniels looks like shit so far apparenlty.
I hope Paul is ready to play and Brooks is a UDFA gold pick-up. Otherwise, LG might be a clusterfuck this year. |

Sadly they once again didn't lift a finger to truly gain talent on the o-line. I don't care who's scheming/calling the plays... it won't mean a damn thing if the opposing D is in the backfield in 2-3 seconds flat 80% of the time.
We will see how it plays out but I'm not looking forward to how badly Ron & Co may have handicapped not only Howell, but the team this season. |

Drafting a plug-in OL starter in the 2nd round. This might become less of an issue if Jartavius Martin plays well his rookie season. But this felt like more of a luxury pick, when we had needs on the OL. |
I'm curious, which part do you think they could have done better beside signing 2 FA OLs and drafted 2 OLs?
They drafted 2 OL who aren't going to see the field this year, one of them may not make the team. Given the likely number of roster spots they have available, having more draft picks is not an advantage. They would have been better of trading 3rd and 4th rounders for a higher pick who could contribute. The 2 FAs were very much mid tier and one of them is being played out of his favoured position. So they really did not do much considering how the OL derailed last year. |
Re: 2023 Commies training camp thread
For fucks sakes, players are already complaining to Ron about EB. How we continue to be losers folks.
This is an opportunity for Terry and Sam to call out this pussy ass behavior. Let’s see how they handle it |

Cut em. Idc who it is. Simply say “oh your pussy hurts in August? Clean out your locker we don’t need ya”. Im a little puzzled why Ron would divulge that information though.

Re: 2023 Commies training camp thread
Sounded like Ron was almost siding w/ Del Rio's style and gave a slight to EB. Ron sometimes says the dumbest crap. The nonsense about Del Rio being a HC vs EB not being one? C'mon dude.
He is here one more year. There is no way the new ownership group is going to keep him. |
Get any softies out of here asap!
Including Ron who apparently favors the coddling approach because that has really worked well for us. Im stunned about the slight to EB. What exactly does a HC do in Rons opinion? Read stories and tuck them in at night? Jeez. After so many years of losing it is a breath of fresh air imo to have someone lighting a fire under these guys asses. You wanna start? Play? You better be working. Enough of this bullshit the guys love me crap. They love collecting paychecks and taking it easy in practice. Put these softies on notice. Ron should have said “gtfo than” not run to the press and called him out as a newbie. Man Im so done with Ron. Lol |

I'm fine with Ron telling the players to go talk to EB about it. But it is a mistake to criticize EB in public. It seems like a cheap shot because people will think that Ron did it because he is afraid of losing his job to EB. Do not put a new leader in place to solve a long-standing problem on offense and then bad-mouth him before his new offense even plays its first game! Do not undermine EB's authority by appeasing the whiners. Before this happened I would have said to Ron:"Go talk to to EB if you think he should tone it down a bit." But - whoops! - too late for that now, Ron. |
Re: 2023 Commies training camp thread
The media is killing Ron about this and the players. Another drama filled situation starting with a new owner lol. Man this franchise has some fucking curse on them or something.

I really don’t have a problem with what Ron said, that said he needs to go to the less is more school because he talks in circles and leaves too much up for interpretation.
Just say some players complained, I told them tough shit. Next question. |

He pointed out that he and Jack have different experiences, and they handle things differently. Not exactly a revelation, and not really being critical either. I don't even think he indicated that Jack's way was "better", only that EB hasn't been a HC before, and doesn't have the experience that comes with that - yet. |

He created this mess himself and made it worse by reading that ridiculous prepared statement. That said, because he did say that, he should have used your answer. Considering how long RR has been in the NFL its amazing how inept he is with the media. |
