Re: 2023 MLB Season Thread
New updated list: Phillies, Braves, Rangers, Astros, Diamondbacks. I simply cannot root for a team from Phoenix.

Re: 2023 MLB Season Thread
There is nothing worse than poor managerial decisions in baseball. Their impact is so limited throughout the season and then in high leverage moments their decisions become magnified.
Game 1 of ALDS Orioles aren't hitting. They are losing 3-2 in the 7th. They draw a walk for the leadoff. Cedric Mullins 2 for last 30 comes up. Now with his speed and Aaron Hicks on the bases. A bunt should've been in play. Nope we had three batters and Hicks didn't get off first base. How you are given three outs and don't advance a runner off of first in a one run game is mind blowing to me.
Nothing worse than a leadoff runner never leaving the base he reached. Even worse if there wasn't a double play involved, as sometimes those just happen. 3 straight useless outs is very unenjoyable to watch. Managing the actual game of baseball, is probably the easiest of the coaching jobs in all of sports (the actual game being played, not dealing w/ the players all season and the grind), and Snitker just constantly fucks it up. He spends all his time worrying about what might happen later. And saving the bullpen is more important than winning the damn game to him. Dude is going to have a real fresh bullpen in spring training, when his dumbass decision making gets us eliminated in our 1st round. |

Re: 2023 MLB Season Thread
Tie the all time HR record, lead the MLB in basically every offensive category, go out like a bunch of fucking pussy ass bitches in the 1st round.
I'm not watching baseball playoffs anymore. I'm retroactively going out on a highnote after 2021. |
Re: 2023 MLB Season Thread
3 of the 4 teams with a bye bounced. Last year it was 2 of 4. 62% loss rate. I recognize it has only been two seasons and a small sample size but If this trend continues I think there will be a change to playoff format again.
Personally I like the three division winners and one wild card, but now they know they can make money from more teams. I think the next progression is a 8 team first round with a 3 game series. They wouldn't have to extend the playoffs since it is already embedded into the schedule. I hate that because baseball is the one sport (you could probably throw basketball too) where the teams at the top of each division are the best. Keep the playoffs small and to the best teams IMO because this season is a slog. If the best teams end up being eliminated just because of a bye then that just isn't going to work. |
Re: 2023 MLB Season Thread
Arizona sweeping LA is crazy. Philadelphia takes out Atlanta in 4. Almost impossible to believe both LA/Atlanta out so quickly. Looking forward to Houston/TX. Think it will be good. Like Philly over Zona.

Re: 2023 MLB Season Thread
Still cannot believe Yankees traded Montgomery and then St. Louis proceeded to. He's off to a good start tonight. Solid left hand starters are not the easiest thing to find.

Re: 2023 MLB Season Thread
Philadelphia continues to dominate beating Arizona 10-0. This team has been tough in the playoffs lately.

Fuck the Phillies

Fuck you Astros

Re: 2023 MLB Season Thread
The road team won every game in the ALCS.
|
Re: 2023 MLB Season Thread
No team with byes made the World Series
|
Re: 2023 MLB Season Thread
Man, I am pleasantly stunned that the DBacks pulled it off. Phillies keep knocking the Braves out, but at least they aren't also winning World Series Series'.

Re: 2023 MLB Season Thread
My boss is in Arizona and a big D-backs fan…Im pulling hard for the team that stopped the unbearable Phillies.

Soto? Yamamoto? Yanks getting both maybe? It’s good for baseball.

Jesus Christ Ohtani. Save some for the rest of us. Dodgers really fucking up the market here. Good for Ohtani, gets paid like a mofo, stays at home and joins a contender. Bad for the rest of MLB. |

Probably why the Dodgers weren't super active last FA. The rich have gotten drastically richer. |

Lololololololol… And he’s 29. Lololololololololololol
I mean now that the contract details are out, this is basically a big win for the Dodgers. Who cares if he isn't pitching? Deferring 68 out of 70 million a year? Fucking christ that's a huge win for the Dodgers to stay competitive. |

The NL has the DH now too. He can DH. Doesn't have to play in the field to hit. |

I never want to hear about Bonilla's deferred payments even again.

Hey guys, did you hear how Ohtani's deferred payments start in 2034 and Bonilla's deferred payments end in 2035?
Bonilla is passing the mantle to Ohtani durrr hurrr. |
I much rather have gotten Burnes than paid Sale. Damn Braves, how you miss this opportunity?
Our farm system is barren as fuck (because it was so fucking fruitful, hence why we are so good). And our top-prospects are pitchers. Don't want to trade young pitchers for 1 year of Burnes. Especially with Fried likely to be gone after this year. We need young arms. I actually like the Sale signing as long as Snitker doesn't fuck up and overuse him. He should never pitch more than 4 or 5 innings. Our bullpen should be dope. Let 'em eat. Orioles farm system: 1 Braves farm system: 25 https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10099866-updated-mlb-farm-system-rankings-for-the-2023-24-offseason This is a paid article, but without paying, the headline states Orioles have number 1 farm system, in-case bleacher report isn't your cup of tea. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/orioles-farm-system-ranks-no-1-and-the-gap-to-no-2-is-a-chasm/ A lot easier for the Orioles to pull this trade off. They have prospects galore right now. |
Re: 2023 MLB Season Thread
We haven't had a 1 since Mike Mussina. Jake Arietta was never developed with the staff at the time.
