I think you are right though, or you should be right. Dalton should be running for his life all day, IF that defense can stop the run. I think they will.

The bigger question to me is, will the offense be able to put points on the board.

Truth is a lot of people have lost interest in this team and the Nfl in general .. It’s a downward trend that I’m not sure the league will recover from anytime soon .. years of losing and horrible culture gas eroded this once proud franchise to rock bottom status .. I’m close to throwing in towel and moving on myself ..

If there was ever a time to throw downfield...it's against dallass. So we'll see what Norv Jr can dial up...if he continues to be check down Charlie, look for the dallass LBs to transform into the 85 Bears LBs and another long day for the WFT.

True for the WFT part but I find it hard to believe the NFL part. There is no way NFL will not continue grow over time.

How do you measure growth ? Tv ratings are down .. no fans in stadiums .. fans are finding out there are other things to do with your time.. I just Dvr games now and watch later ... is that really supporting the team .. I can watch game in easy under 2 hours .. look at nascar it fell off the earth .. NBA way down .. Nfl won’t fall like that however the Glory days are over in my opinion..

TV ratings of all the major sports are down but the NFL still blows them away. What's growth? Wait for the next TV deals and see how much revenue they will rake in.

Does it seem backwards that our run defense is towards the bottom of the league in rushing yds/g and number 2 in passing yds/g?
It seems like based on our personnel and what I have seen with my own eyes it should be the opposite.

I hope we lose this game. We need an elite talent at qb. I'll take Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields over some meaningless win against the sorry ass Cowboys. But even as bad as they are we don't have the offensive fire power. We won't be able to keep up with them even if our defense plays a great game.

We're ranked 6th in pass d, and 17th in run d.

Based on Opponents yards per rush attempt we're ranked 16th:

I think we're probably about middle of the pack in run d instead of near the bottom.

Combining my impressions from watching the games with Cooley's film breakdowns, I'd guess it's the LBs and Safeties missing run gap fits and missing tackles.

Our DTs are not getting blown up, even on double teams, and our DEs have been holding the edge really well. That leaves the LBs and Safeties.

It just seems like there are way too many runs, between the tackles, going for 6+ yards, instead of getting stopped by a back 7 player at the LOS.

Maybe it's glass half full, but I think the rush defense will improve with Holcomb and Everett starting. (not saying either is the answer, just better than the alternatives)

Well said. Nice job here and agree. This defense will not take next step until we get that volume tackle at middle linebacker who also can drop 3 deep middle in coverage. It’s the key to this defense. Would be nice if we could get a free safety who can cover correctly and provide help. I hope we add a vet free safety this offseason

I think they were hoping Rueben Foster would be a solution. Thumping LB is in our offseason list.

I think it has a lot to do with D spending so much time on the field... and some of Murray's and Jackon's runs...

All reports from the beat guys was foster showed no athleticism before the season. We need to move on and get a quality guy there. Or play Holcomb there to see if he can grow into the role by end of year

If we beat Dallas this waste of a year is forgiven for me.

Honestly really just looking for improvement in key areas. Pass rush has been neutralized since week 1, would be nice to get that going again. Would be nice for a non-Terry Mac wr/te to step up. Would be nice for our truly offensive line to pass block for Kyle Allen. Would be nice to see some Allen magic so we can understand what Rivera sees in him.

Kyle Allen and Andy Dalton are the QB's. Just let that sink in. Will Allen even throw a ball past 10 yards today? I'm probably going to take a nap during this god awful game. The Cowboy Redskin rivalry is about as dead as dead gets.
