Just to add... maybe it's too early to judge Sweat or Collins, as they are having to play under the direction of the worst DC this side of Joe Barry.

Want more proof?

Preston Smith: 1.5 sacks last week, INT this week in GB
B. Breeland: INT today for Chiefs
K. Fuller: INT today for Chiefs

Guys leave here, perform ust as well, or better...guys come to this defense... and you get what you've seen from Z. Brown, J. Norman, L. Collins, etc.
Good point. I can’t believe the absolute bullshit job our front office and Jay has done with finding a d coordinator.

He had over 1000 yards rushing last year. Gruden is an idiot.

Manusky has been fired everywhere he ever coached. How these same dingbats keep landing jobs is mind numbing. I swear to God I don’t think there is any real vetting done before these guys sign their 7 figure offer sheets. Its just “yeah i used to coach with his brother in the college ranks and we both like the same television shows” - boom. Hired.

I actually don’t mind not winning. Maybe it’ll inspire Snyder to clean house, we shoulda done that this off season but maybe a complete collapse will really drive the point home.

Rough patch, Punch. At least all but the Redskins might improve.

Honestly, we are giving up > 30 points and > 475 yards a game. I know the eagles and cowboys have talent, but that’s absurd. If Manusky isn’t gone soon, I’ll be pissed. I realize injuries to Allen, Dunbar, and Moreau aren’t helping, but this group is seriously underperforming.

I’d elevate Tomsula to DC. He’s at least passionate and will motivate guys. Hard to imagine anyone else decent being available to step in.

One thing I liked today is the way Steve Sims was used. That kid some high upside. Here’s a really good scouting breakdown on him:

Week 2 Loss - Post Thoughts Here

I like the idea of a new DC from within - like Tomsula RIGHT NOW. Only when properly coached can we see who’s really playing well and who needs to be dumped next year. The poor coaching is masking who is playing well or not. Except with obvious losers like Van Norman or Moses.

The Redskins need to seriously look at EVERY SINGLE free agent and fire all but the very best at the end of the year. We’ll have cap dead space for a year or two but in a year or two we’ll have money to get talent. Time for a YOUTH MOVEMENT.

We are in a two- year REBUILDING WINDOW. Gruden’s last year and the NEW HC and staff first year. Total housecleaning of old guys, expensive guys based on this and next years performance.

We should be benching guys like Richardson and replacing him with Steve Sims or Robert Davis or Harmon to see who can fill his shoes NOW OR DO BETTER, when he is gone next year.

It is time to bring in new rookies and get them playing time, even if they make mistakes. I mean someone on the team or on waivers has got to be better than Moses - he just sucks!

Keenum is ALL “Junk time” stats. He is missing many passes when it matters and can change the game. Missed two wide open TD passes. I don’t care if he has a scoring drive in last 4 minutes of a game when we’re 17 points behind. He is inconsistent and not an NFL starting level QB.

Bring in the future now and start Haskins immediately , even with Moses playing terrible at RT. If we leave in Case and go 5-11 WHAT HAS HASKINS LEARNED? How to lose and pad your stats with junk time stats that make you appear far better than you are?

I think apathy has set in for me. I watched the game today and did not say one word the entire time. No yelling, no cursing. I turned it off before it ended to watch Baltimore/ Cards.

As far as the game, Case is really hanging in there considering the circumstances. But he is who he is and we will never win with him. But I feel like if they put Haskins in then the offense, which is barely holding it's head above water, may go in the tank with more sacks, fumbles and ints. And with the way the defense is playing I don't think anyone wants that. It would be unbearable. I would get Haskins mop up duty for now.

The D is pitiful. Move on from Manusky. He can't scheme or motivate. Once and if we get healthy in the secondary I'd sit Norman down. He's slow and can't even cover 50 year old Witten. Go with these young guys and see what you got. Stop messing around with guys like DRC. Whomever decided to sign him should be out of the NFL. But basically their o-line broke our will. The better team clearly was Dallas.

They are 0-2, just as most expected they would be. I think they'll win 2 of the next 3 if they get some key dudes back, Allen, Dunbar, Moreau, Reed... 2-3 after the first five would be ok. However, if it's 1-4 or 0-5, then I want to see some changes...Haskins under center, Manusky out the door, O'Connell calling the plays.

We’ll be lucky to be 1-4 after five games. If we lose to a crap Giants team the Redskins nay implode.

I’m wondering if so many hurt players is guys either super-soft with Gruden ball OR players really don’t want to play here. Could be either. Not a good football team.

Keenum is all garbage time stats.

Gruden and Manusky aren't good coaches.

There is plenty of talent on the defense, even with Allen out, to do much better than 60+ points.

This line of thinking totally ignores the fact Gruden playing all young guys doesn't make sense. You do that, you're admitting the season is a lost cause.

Jay Gruden can't admit the season is a lost cause because he's coaching for his career here, anything less than playoffs and he's done (because he's on the last year of his contract). Hell, with Kevin O'Connell in house his hot seat is probably warming up, we might actually see a coaching change in season if we look this clueless through the first half.

Of course that won't do anything about Bruce Allen or Dan but we'd have better luck playing the lotto than hoping either one of those will be out of town anytime soon.

Back to back week on versus best Tackle tandems in the league will do that

HTTR 09-16-2019 08:41 AM

Re: Week 2 Loss - Post Thoughts Here

Haskins will get his time soon enough. Between our suspect training staff, inept coaching, and a weak O line, why damage his confidence and his body so early in his career? Some teams have the wherewithal to take players and turn them into Pro Bowlers, or at least improve their games. In this regime, we take promising talent or established talent and make them worse.

I want to see our crop of young players take control of this team — only under new HC and coordinators. And training staff. I’m hoping 1-5 will get that process started. If it takes 4-12, so be it.

Back to back weeks versus the best tackle tandems as a rookie playing in the NFL for the first time.

Any man or woman (I still see you in the game threads Drave) here who is already drawing conclusions on Sweat after 2 games is someone whose opinion I won't take seriously.

I think judging a rookie after the first two games of his career against some of the best players in the NFL is a mistake. It should be obvious it's going to take some time for Sweat to adjust to the NFL. Whether that's this year or next doesn't matter to me, as I already think this year is a lost cause. I just want to see him succeed, even if it takes time.

Re: Week 2 Loss - Post Thoughts Here

I'm not really seeing Paul Richardson's name mentioned, but I have a problem with how he's being utilized. The guy is not a possession receiver, he's not a guy that needs to be running <10 yard routes. How many times do we gotta see him make a 6 yard catch on 3rd and 10 before we realize our coaches are not utilizing him properly? If he gets open 20 yards down the field but drops a lot of passes cut him, as it is now he's being wasted.

And speaking of proper utilization I have no idea why they think Chris Thompson should be running right up the gut out of the I-formation, he's definitely not made for that either.

Just think how much better Case could play with a running game...Jay's an embarrassment with this AP situation, but the run game could be better if he was serious about it. No blocking TE and Ryan Anderson comes in to play fullback...embarrassment.

they didn't tho. Case hasn't been the issue, shit, the WRs haven't been the issue.

The Oline is decent in Pass Pro, struggles with penalties and running the Ball. No TE blocking at ALL. Again another year of this bullshit with the TE group. You talk about a youth movement, cut VD and Reed...play the young guys to see what we have there.

We need to improve Oline and TE this coming offseason.

It's not a lost cause but it is painfully obvious that this is not a playoff team. But for instance, what good is it playing Josh Norman and DRC? Norman should have been shopped during the off season. Now that he's being exposed his value is nothing. DRC was out there limping around and they still put him out there. This shit is just inexcusable.
