Boy, if only there was some link between mass shooters and mental instability. If only there was some way we could flag those who have mental issues and a history of verbal and/or violent outbursts so they couldn't legally buy guns?
I’d like to get something on the books for that, some type of restraint. Also raising the age for assault rifles to 21-24 age, and then banning bump stocks. People complain about millennials(I do, but it’s overblown)...but the following generation is going to be pretty sick. The lack of social skills especially interpersonal communication is dangerous. South Korea has online addiction on the books and is focusing on the destructive nature of a generation looking on their phones 100% of their day. I think the increase in mass shootings is indirectly tied with a generation currently unable to deal with life...if we want to say sure increase funding for mental health...I’m fine with it...but shouldn’t we be dealing with root cause analysis? My question is this...gun violence, homcides rates are down historically...why has this mass shooting thing popped up? It’s not the gun folks...it’s something deeper. Too simply say...oh mental health...it’s dismissive. What’s the driver? The look at me generation, the participation trophy generation....it’s all related. Im starting to wonder if the Unabomber wasn’t on to something...Emerson and Theorau were ahead of their time. |

....but,but that....that's against the Constitution ! the gunnies are gonna get cha! |
Re: Parkland Shooting
I think it really boils down to mental health and the overall stigma surrounding it. Also a lack of services, lack of a system that gives quality coverage to all, too many people that fall through the cracks of society as a result. Having a culture that is obsessed with guns and violence doesn't help.

Re: Parkland Shooting
I don't see the issue G1.
-Uber driver taking a passenger home- -crazy guy passes him (on a non-passable 2 lane road) -crazy guy forces a stop- -crazy guy exits vehicle, comes back to your vehicle at rapid pace with his arm in the air holding a foreign object which you can't quite tell what it is in the dark- -crazy guy literally says "you know I got a pistol.. you want me to fucking shoot you?" -I am also armed- fuck yeah I'm drawing and firing. My options are to slam it in reverse and open myself up to direct gunfire, or to gun it and potentially hit the guy's vehicle or pass right next to him still giving him a shot, or c. draw and shoot the fucker threatening my life. I have no problem with that Uber driver defending himself. The real moral of the story (in case ya'll didn't know) is have a fucking dash cam because that quite literally backed up the Uber driver's story (secondary option would be having the passenger testify on his behalf.) Dash cams - mine cost 100 bucks, already saved my ass once in an accident where I got sideswiped 3 years ago. And of course credit the Uber driver for carrying, that also potentially saved his life too (the article says crazy guy was holding his cell phone, not a gun). |
Re: Parkland Shooting
Also in this situation...this crazy redneck dude...if he is stalking ex girlfriend, he shouldn’t have a gun imo. I don’t know if he had an order against him, pending charges, convicted of stalking, etc...but clearly he should have his weapons taken from him.
I thought the sheriff summed it up good...paraphrased: “message for all the hotheads out there. Good people are armed. Your criminal behavior could get you fatally shot.” Yes, yes it will. |

https://www.yahoo.com/news/texas-father-son-charged-killing-205613556.html
This one is on the other end of the spectrum. There's a difference between making idle threats and showing you have the capability of carrying out those threats. Can't tell for sure but I assume these dipshits were charged because the guy saying they were dead was probably unarmed. |
Re: Parkland Shooting
Kudos to FL for recognizing this case wasn't a valid use of SYG.

She’s def not a communist like AOC or an open anti Semitic like the two from Minnesota and Michigan I guess every side has their crazy...I’ll call it out, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard criticism about the others here. Re: Parkland Shooting
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
@AOC I am happy to work with Republicans on this issue where there’s common ground, but you almost had me murdered 3 weeks ago so you can sit this one out. Happy to work w/ almost any other GOP that aren’t trying to get me killed. Here is AOC telling folks today that Ted Cruz attempted to have her murdered a couple weeks ago. I guess this is normal to some |
Re: Parkland Shooting
Well Ted the turd was out there inciting the mob, getting all the mouth breathers fired up about a rigged election. He was part of the problem. You don't wonder what the mob would have done if they got their hands on AOC or Pelosi? Hang Mike Pence? Obviously she's exaggerating and being overly dramatic but I don't blame her for being pissed off about it.

2 mass shootings
1 week 18 dead Seems like we as a country went a while without a mass shooting |

Don't know if I'm still qualified as a Trump supporter or not. But if any conservative, Trump supporter, or not, blames this on Biden or any democrat, feel free to slap them for me. It is no one else's fault besides the 2 fucking assholes that shot those people. These trials and appeals need to be expedited. Try them tomorrow, let all the appeals get done asap, then put these motherfuckers down. |
Re: Parkland Shooting
Watch the Trump supporters will blame it on Biden.
If that's their narrative - that wouldn't surprise me. But no denying a lot of blame is being throwing around over the Atlanta shootings by the media and the left based on their own narrative. Narrative trumps evidence nowadays. |

Re: Parkland Shooting
Let me know when y’all want to talk root cause, policy and what the actually data says about gun violence.
Also we can talk current gun control laws in across the country and the outcomes. The impact of defund the police efforts and the rise of violent crimes in those cities...which, as usual, affects increased crimes against people of color than other racial segments. Maybe we can talk about gun laws broken by the President own son Hunter: https://www.politico.com/news/2021/03/25/sources-secret-service-inserted-itself-into-case-of-hunter-bidens-gun-477879 Also have to laugh about how this thread came back to life while ignoring the mass shootings in Philadelphia and Chicago the week before...I guess they don’t matter to liberal. They generally don’t give a flying fuck about gang violence and kids killed in the street. It’s all about the narrative...also cnn/msnbc completely dropped the Boulder story after they found out the guy is a Muslim. Instead they pushed the gun, instead of the criminal. You got to be a dipshit not to notice it. |

Re: Parkland Shooting
COLUMBIA, S.C. -- A gunman who killed five people Wednesday, including a prominent doctor in South Carolina, was former NFL pro Phillip Adams, who killed himself early Thursday, according to a source who was briefed on the investigation.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak publicly, said Adams' parents live near the doctor's home in Rock Hill, and that he had been treated by the doctor. The source said Adams killed himself after midnight with a .45 caliber weapon. He was 32. Adams played as a defensive back for multiple teams including the San Francisco 49ers and the Atlanta Falcons after starring at South Carolina State. He also suffered multiple injuries in the NFL, including concussions and a broken left ankle. The York County Sheriff's Office said it had searched for hours before finding the suspect in a nearby home. The York County coroner's office said Dr. Robert Lesslie, 70, and his wife, Barbara Lesslie, 69, were pronounced dead at the scene along with grandchildren Adah Lesslie, 9, and Noah Lesslie, 5. A man who had been working at the home, James Lewis, 38, from Gaston, was found shot to death outside, and a sixth person was hospitalized with "serious gunshot wounds," York County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Trent Faris said. Re: Parkland Shooting
I believe what I always have, people suffering from mental illness or an mental breakdown shouldn’t have a gun. It’s defining that or how someone enters that grey area along with the stigma of mental illness...how to then remove that constitutional right.
The stories of Boulder, Atlanta and now South Carolina all share this root |

Re: Parkland Shooting
^speed that up from 3 weeks to 1 and I wouldn’t have a problem
Look this is by far the biggest issue: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2016/07/27/new-evidence-confirms-what-gun-rights-advocates-have-been-saying-for-a-long-time-about-crime/ New evidence confirms what gun rights advocates have said for a long time about crime They found that in approximately 8 out of 10 cases, the perpetrator was not a lawful gun owner but rather in illegal possession of a weapon that belonged to someone else If you want to stop gun crime, stop the person from possession of an illegal gun as evidence shows persons with illegal own guns commit gun crimes. Mandatory 3 year federal sentence for each gun in your possession illegally first offense. 5 year mandatory second offense or a felon in possession of an illegal gun. This isn’t hard people, but if your not gonna lock up the people who are most likely gonna use an illegal gun immediately then don’t talk gun control cause your not serious about it. Biden should announce my policy today |
