Re: Trouble in Redskins Park?
I'm definitely bracing for some bad news of some sort.
Since Cooley made those comments, the Redskins have been asked about them and have chosen to make no comment. If you were a good leader, then either Snyder or Allen would step forward and denounce those comments by Cooley. They're too incendiary to do otherwise. Or if not stepping forward yourself, then making McCloughan available to denounce them himself. Having no comment on the matter, and no suspension or discipline of Cooley, is not a good look. While I'd love to think that Snyder, Allen, McC and Gruden have huddled and collectively decided to let this blow by, that's not in-keeping with previous experience. That would be a sign of good leadership. They do not possess that trait. My concern is high. I believe there truly is smoke. |

I thought the same thing, how is there no comment or someone stepping up from the organization to support McC? It's totally insane. I swear, if they get rid of McC I'm gonna be livid. Much more worried about losing McC than cousins. I blame Bruce, I've said it from day one. |

He's lucky he wasn't canned after the Shanny disaster. I also am starting to believe McC is back on the sauce. If that happened to be the case I wish he would tame his personal demons, but I'd deal with it if it didn't affect his job performance. |

I just wonder what Cooley has to gain/lose from saying shit like that when you're working for the company. |

I feel like he's saying it for the same reason he says other dumb shit, which is ratings. But the conspicuous silence out of Redskins Park is a bad sign. And we know he has connections so there might be some truth to it. We'll see but I don't have a good feeling about this, in between this drama and the Kirk shitshow this has been a bad start to a key offseason where we will either regress or keep getting better. |
Re: Trouble in Redskins Park?
What are the odds on whether this McCloughan era ends in a raging dumpster fire ala 2013?!
|
Re: Trouble in Redskins Park?
Quite possible it's shock jock ratings motivating Cooley. But I feel like he's too smart to throw out something that incendiary without thinking of the repercussions. I'm not sure where this ends up but I don't like the feel at the moment.

Not so sure about Redskins park but there is definitely Big Trouble in Little China.

I can't find a link ATM but I remember McLovin having toned down his drinking to beer only when he was hired. I think the assumption is that he has been drinking the whole time.
I don't believe he was ever touted as sober by himself or anyone in the organization. Somebody with a better memory help me out. |

It never affected your life before; you went from being an area scout to being general manager. Don't touch the vodka, don't touch the hard stuff. But if you want to have a beer, have a beer.' So that's where I got to. I stopped going to AA." That's what he says he will tell NFL teams if they come calling now. He knows he sounds as if he's splitting hairs about the distinction between beer and hard liquor, and he's aware of the fact that conventional wisdom says recovery is an all-or-nothing proposition -- even if some evidence suggests most heavy drinkers, which McCloughan says he's not, are functional. "If I was an alcoholic and had a beer, I'd have two, then four, then six, then ... you know, you can't stop," he insists. "I can. I can have a beer and I'm fine. I don't need any more."
|

Nothing about this in the main stream media on the national level yet, so who knows. Cooley is an idiot for even talking about this stuff.

Interesting. Scott M has pissed someone off...
Cooley should have balls to refuse that kind of crap. Why would he want to cause controversy? Who is behind this? Allen? I agree with the guy being interviewed, this is Flynnesque. Of course from what it seems like reading the article, the allegation might just be true, but why leak it before FA starts and the draft? Why can't Redskin Park just be run by real professionals? The blame indirectly falls on Snyder, unless he is the culprit, then he gets all the blame. |

Well, if the link is true, it means someone higher up than Scot is getting ready to kick him out. So either Dan or Bruce. |

IMO, if this story is true...absolutely disgraceful by the redskins organization. To volunteer that info to the public is just the lowest of the low for an organization. I would lose any respect I have I have left for Snyder and Bruce. You don't treat folks like that. |

I really don't think that's what happened. I think Chris, perhaps inadvertently, made a decision to speak publicly on something that should have been kept quiet |

Thunder fan here too. KD is a pussy. Cupcake. Hopefully Spurs or Cavs can beat them. NBA is pretty boring this year. The other teams are all just wasting their time. Go Redskins! (now it's a football post). |

Yeah, you know when you bring McC who had those substance abuse problems...which by most accounts I read he really wasn't out of the woods, but was still "battling"...you kinda have to have a plan on how to deal with a possible relapse. I still think a statement of support would be a good move by the skins. Cooley should be given a timeout on the radio. Somethings shouldn't be brought up. |
Re: Trouble in Redskins Park?
Cooley bringing that on the air is trash and it's even more trash coming from a fellow Skin.

Cooley needs to be nailed if this is indeed "fake news". Even if there is some merit to the story, why bring it up? That is a personal matter. Now if Scott got nailed with a DUI, then OK that might be news worthy, but not this. He(Cooley) was one of my all time fav Skins, now I am not so sure. |

So then if the Redskins aren't going to "discipline" him in any kind of way, then maybe that suggests that he was indeed only obeying instructions. |

Just from an outsider's view. The Redskins are doing everything right and going in the right direction and no other reason to think otherwise.Cooley said something stupid but there is no evidence other then just a dumb remark from him.

Yeah I don't really care if it's true or not. You don't bring it up on the air. That's trash for the national media if they do want to do that. People associated with the Skins should not be doing that. I don't like it at all. |

I am with you. The guy(Scott M) admitted having a beer or two occasionally when asked about when he came on board. To me that is nothing worthy of reporting, if he does drink. Was Cooley just trying to get things interesting in a boring period of the post season? Still, that is not professional. He should have come out with his own mock draft or something to raise interest and get click bait. If this type of crap continues and Scott gets some nice offers elsewhere, he might just bolt because of this type of garbage. |

It's a sad day when a Giants fan is the voice of reason. This is non-issue, why keep the drama going? The heat on Cooley is ridiculous. I am sure most of us thought the same thing when we heard the news of Scot being muzzled. If you want the drama to go away, stop blowing things out proportion. |
