winSTON winSTON

I don't think he'd really be all that expensive... last time i saw him he wasn't exactly elite.

he'd be a good signing and he's the best fit for us for sure.

Re: O-Line Edition: Free Agency and the Draft

Right now he's in his prime, he won't command top dollar, and he just spent a few years in a very similar offense in Houston, including his time with Kyle S. down there. Bring him in.

Yup, Right Tackle is just as important as WR at this point. He is a fit and Winston seems to be better than a 3rd round T or the crap in FA at tackle, lets get a big deal together. Huge

i dont how you came up with that, but 30's name is officially changed in my book

Re: O-Line Edition: Free Agency and the Draft

His price is going to go up due to the market and how many tackles are available and how many teams need a good right tackle. He might choose Miami (went to college there) but he is one guy I would go after if I were the redskins. I would prefer him over Vincent at this point, he is a very good tackle and durable, athletic, basically perfect fit.

If it happens no more vincent which means it might be the best offseason yet!

What is the status of Tyler Polumbus? Did he not play well in relief last year? I don't see the OL being in complete shambles if Lichtensteiger comes back healthy and Trent Williams takes his career seriously. Jamaal Brown has mostly been a disappointment.

Re: O-Line Edition: Free Agency and the Draft

CAP left might be an issue. I thought I heard on the radio the team needs for TW to restructure his contract if we want to keep Fletcher. I imagine if that has to happen then we are pretty close to the end of our spending in FA cause we have to have a cushion for the Rookies right? Also someone mentioned RGIII going to cost us a lot but didn't they put a Rookie CAP in place and we can only sign them for 3 or 4 yrs in their first contract?

Looks as if Robert Gallery will be available. He really showed he cannot play tackle in the NFL, but he has been more than adequate at guard. He is an upgrade over anything currently on the roster.

far too old; don't want him.

I disagree with mbedner that Robert Gallery is far too old, but he's been in the league for 8 years (aka he's not young, should be right around 30 if my estimate is correct) but I don't believe he's the right fit for our system. I don't think he's very mobile, which is what Shanny wants from his linemen in the ZBS.

It would be great if Williams restructured. I don't know if his suspension will positively factor in him doing it.

Was he a starter? He might be a good depth signing for a couple years.

Polumbus is by no means a starter, good depth guy cause he fills in at RT & G. No way we'd want him lining up at RT all year. I think the wild card for us is Willie Smith. Will he make a big jump in his 2nd year & take the job from Brown or whoever else comes in to compete.

I think he could start fur us. He started 13 games last season and has started 47 of the 50 games he's appeared in.

Houston fans seem to like his run blocking:

Honestly it wasn't as bad as some would say, Trent played good most of the year but a weakness was jamal at rt. Imo it's a decent unit not horrible not great

At times the line played well , we ran better at years end , RG111 should help make the OL look better . Welcome home Chief and welcome to the board !

Sadly he's still on the team. We're stuck with him unless we cut him, but it would be a $6.2 million dollar cap hit if we cut him.

I hope the redskins are targeting a player with their first pick in the draft for either guard, inside lb, or cornerback- priority in that order.

41 sacks, but 10 came in one game during the failed John Beck experiment against one of the worst pass rushing teams in the league, the Bills. Not too bad considering our QBs are severely immobile and sometimes hold onto the ball.

We need to add some pieces, but don't need to break the bank in free agency like many believe. Shanny's O-lines in Denver were very good and made up of virtual no names found in the mid to late rounds. I'm confident they'll find some players in the draft, and free agents will be signed through the summer. Better and more mobile QB combined with better weapons should take pressure off the line anyway. Running game was pretty good, especially considering we played 2 rookies.

by first pick of the draft I hope your talking about our 3rd rounder after our first rounder since that will be used on Griffin.

he'd be a 1.5mill cap hit. it's release fee - 2012 cap number = hit over keeping him.

Hip injury. Btw with Demetrius Bell if we signed him, he is better suited for LT. Which is where Trent is. Do you think Shanahan will move Trent? I don't see him doing that.

Pro football Focus had brown rated as almost the worst starting RT. Hopefully he gets pushed to being just a backup on his way out. Can they cut him next offseason? Really bummed we didn't go after Winston, seemed like a perfect fit?
