Re: Washington Wizards 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
I like how they had that picture of Stern and Billy Hunter sitting next to each other smiling on the front page of ESPN. What are they smiling about? They lost almost a quarter of a season, and it looks like they're acting like nothing bad happened as a result of how long it took. What about all the people that lost income as a result of no NBA games being played? And I'm not talking about the players or the owners either.

This. Really. The NBA is pretty much weaksauce at this point. Who would even miss it if they canceled the season? During the regular season, it's players half assing it during games, not giving it their all, and getting max contracts for being above average players. (too many to list) Also, I still believe the NBA rigs games via their officiating. I believe Donaghy when he said the refs were told, in that 2002 Sacremento/Lakers playoff series, to make it go to a game 7. It's a sham and just watching the games you can tell it. The stars get all the favorable calls, they do "make up" calls and sometimes just don't even bother officiating. It's horrible and a horrible product. I'll stick with college basketball. |
its over, finally
Huge waste. Everyone looks bad. Stars keep their ability to force their way out of small markets and in exchange the owners owe less money overall with the rate dropping to around 50% after previously being 57%. Already the talk has started to pick up about not if, but when Howard will go to LA and CP3 will go to New York. Mid level exception deals are still around for teams over the cap, extend and trade, sign and trade. Basically everything that puts the NBA at risk for being a competitive joke is still around. And apparently the new luxury tax is not going to go into effect for another two years. This deal does nothing to improve competitive balance in the worst competitive team sport in the country. Meanwhile Clips get Caron, Knicks reportedly getting Tyson Chandler. A couple of solid moves there |

You know how fans come up with the most lopsided trades in favor of their team and then argue the exchange is fair. Yeah this is one of those trades.

But in the case of the Chris Paul trade, where the New Orleans Hornets would have acquired two good big men (Odom and Scola) a potential future all-star guard (Kevin Martin) as well as draft picks, i’d say the Hornets would have made out like bandits.
Yeah, Odom, Scola, and Martin for the best point guard in the game in a superstar driven league. Man the Hornets should jump on that trade as soon as possible. Especially since the desire to trade for Paul will fade fast. Also good for Stern for realizing the importance of small market teams and not just trading Paul so the LA's and New Yorks of the world can continue to collect superstar players. |

I understand that but like I said they have time to get this trade done. The saddest thing is that Paul is the 6th or 7th Superstar by my count to hold a small/non-traditional market hostage in recent memory (Lebron, Wade, Bosh, Melo, D. Williams, Howard, and Paul). I'm tempted to include Stoudemire but I think that was a case of Phoenix being frugal. Either way guys like Dirk, Duncan, and Durant are to few and far between. Anyway F the Lakers. They played in 80% and 70% of the finals during the 80's and 2000's respectively. They don't need to start another freaking dynasty. |

CP3 to the Clips. I think this makes it two teams worth watching in LA. Paul, Butler, Griffin, Jordan... Chauncey off the bench.
I think the Hornets made out like bandits, however. Gordon is nasty... plus you get the potential of Aminu and a solid center in Kaman. Not to mention that lottery-bound pick in 2012 from Minny. |
Re: Washington Wizards 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
So far the Wizards shooting percentage in both preseason games: game 1: 32.9%, tonight game 2: 35%. This is not from 3 point land, but the entire floor. If Flip contines to coach a game plan of: go one on one and settle for a 20 footer again this year, he should be fired after this season. Pall Wall should be going to the basket, Andrea Blatch (my arch nemesis) should not be allowed to get the ball out high. Jordan Crawford took 21 shots tonite, Jordon Crawford missed 15 f*cking shots tonite. Can someone please f*cking tell me why the f*ck we dont have a proven PG playing behind Wall, helping him? And please tell me Roger Mason is not back on this team.
Between Mason, Crawford and Young, they will shoot 55 shots a game miss 60%. Coming off another Redskins season of most likely double digits loses and no playoffs. The transition to another Wizards season may seem easy, but i cant watch this team again this year without improvement...I might have to do the Tony to Costanza and tell them to step off. |

WTF? Captain? Dude looks out of shape and slow, and looks to be giving 60-70% effort. Watching him attempt to rebound will make you go mad. Cant believe his effort and performance 1st game out. R. Lewis is done too. Hey at least Singleton looked decent. |

LOL, SS your boy is a classic. I hope he never gives twitter up. My favorite quote of the article: Before the lockout, Saunders gave Blatche a book titled "The 17 Essential Qualities Of A Team Player." Blatche has said he read about half of it. LOL, damn at least lie. |
Re: Washington Wizards 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
Well at least Saunders is rotating captains. I don't see how he could keep Blatche a team captain. Apparently he was only considered in the first place because of how long he's been here. And idk why Blatche is complaining about how he's being used. Bitch if you don't wanna take the jump shot, drive to the mothereffin hoop. It's like it was said in the article, nobody's twisting your arm to make you take the jump shot.

I see Andrea bounced back with a 2 for 13 shooting performance. Drea is ballin. Didnt watch the game, did he get the ball inside last night like he wanted? Jordan Crawford with a miserable night as well, 0-6 shooting. If we start slow in our next game, Flip needs to shake up the line up...start Singleton at SF and Young in at SG. |

I watch the 1st quarter last night against Orlando. The was the worst team ive ever seen play basketball. They started 0-10 shooting the ball. Andrea and Lewis are horrible.

Flip must go
yeah, i cut it off after 0-10 because it was just pathetic, Blatche already had the "give up" body language going on. I seriously worry about the lockerroom and the negativey in it and how it may be affecting Wall. Flip wont make it the entire year. |
Re: Washington Wizards 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
I was worried the Wizards would be a 9 or 10 seed this year and compromise their draft position. Looks like I had nothing to worry about. The scary thing though is the fact that with all these superstars trying to force their way onto super teams you have to wonder how much longer they can keep Wall. Hopefully they can get him one more contract and have their core developed by then.
For now though Flip needs to stay. If the Wizards can get a Harrison Barnes, Perry Jones III, Jared Sullinger, or Anthony Davis it will go a long way towards rounding out their core. |

Blatche is a virus- ship him out for a bag of Fritos. This is a truly young squad without a sense of direction.

Yep. It's sad that he's probably our only chance at climbing out of the pits. And if he leaves once his contract's up, we're right back where we started. |
Re: Washington Wizards 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
I'll echo what others have said here and just say that I think Blatche is one of the worst guys that could possibly be playing for this team. He thinks he's much better than he is and it pouts whenever things don't go his way. He's overconfident and his game isn't all that good. He's got talent, but he's too much of a jerk for it to really come together. Also, to me, he looks like he got fat during the lockout.
I'll share a small piece of anecdotal evidence. Last year, I had great seats to the Raptors game (Hinrich started in place of an injured Wall, not sure what the date was and don't feel like looking; also, Gil was still on the team). Anyway, Blatche was having an off quarter and a guy, not too far from me shouted "Hey Andray, make a shot" during a timeout. Now, while I'm sure he was frustrated, it said a lot to me that he looked up and shouted "Shut the f*ck up!" back at the guy. To me, he shouldn't have even heard it and, if he did, he a. shouldn't have let it bother him and b. certainly shouldn't have responded. To me, it spoke to his immaturity. Now, I know that's sort of nitpicking, but I thought two things when it happened. 1. "I can't believe he actually reacted to that." 2. "I can't believe I'm shocked that Andray did react to it." Full disclosure: I've wanted him gone ever since the offseason before Wall was drafted, but this scene was still a little jarring to me and it confirmed everything I don't like about him. |
Re: Washington Wizards 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
The team is a mess. They have to unload Rashard's contract and Blatche's attitude. And Flip must go. He's not the guy to lead this team.
|
Re: Washington Wizards 2011-2012 Ongoing Thread
I still, for the life of me, can't understand why they didn't amnesty Rashard.
I still, for the life of me, can't understand why they didn't amnesty Rashard.
I think because they couldn't sell Leonsis on the idea of still paying Rashard all that money not to play and then add another player for several million. I mean it doesn't count on the cap, but I think they still would have to pay him right? Either way, it's a mess |

Went to the game last night against the Knicks. The Wizards had a 16 point lead and blew it. They simply don't have any offensive talent beyond Wall and Young. Rashard Lewis is absolutely garbage. Why is this guy still getting a paycheck? What idiot in Orlando thought giving this guy a max contract was a good idea? **** the NBA owners. They losing money, it's because they give bums like him a max contract. I agree. Flip was pretty horrible. He just looks happy to be there, but then again, they don't have much to work with. edit: Javale McGee had a solid game with 4 blocks, and Wall needs to shoot the ball better from outside as well. |
