Re: 2011 Senior Bowl Week
I'm curious if the moderators started a new poll, on which position we should draft at #10, what the results would be. Seems to be a ground swell to draft a pass rushing end or OLB. There also seems to be another camp that is hell bent on a QB. Let the current QB post run it's course then let's see this one next.
We can make that our next poll, we'll do it in a couple of days |
Re: 2011 Senior Bowl Week
I'm reading a lot of stuff here about Locker and us possibly getting Woodley, and all these other scenarios.
- I don't want Locker, I agree he looks like a bust to me, but I also don't want Beck or Grossman. Newton is such a boom or bust prospect that his bust potential scares me. - I would love LaMarr Woodley on this team. However, I don't see it happening, I feel like if the Steelers franchise one guy it would be him. - However adding to that point, I do think that we could definitely go after Ike Taylor their corner. - Keep in mind people, the Steelers drafted all these great players on there team, as did the Packers. Free Agency is if your one player away from the Super Bowl, like the Saints with Darren Sharper. We're like 10 players away from the Super Bowl, we have what 7 draft picks, theres a start. We won't be playing in February for at least another couple of years. |
Re: 2011 Senior Bowl Week
No thanks on Ike Taylor.

Re: 2011 Senior Bowl Week
Ike Taylor is way better than Los so I'd take him in a heartbeat

Skins spent time with Kaepernick today, so that's Locker, Stanzi, and Kaepernick as far as QBs they have spoken to-that I know of

Mort thinks Locker is a first rounder...late first rounder maybe?

You mean the Skins have the media guessing whom we might select as our QB, if we indeed would select one in this draft? I'm glad they are using some smarts here and not giving the appearance of going along with the suggestions of the main stream sports reporters. There are other good QBs out there other than Locker. The Skins have made my day by talking to these other young men. |

Add Dalton and Ponder to the list of QBs Skins have shown interest in |

SS, any QBs we havent shown interest in or the Shanny's see as a bad fit? Bad QB System Fit for short = a McNabb. |

Well, right now the only QB I haven't heard we shown interest in is Greg McElroy, but it's still early in the week. At this point, I don't think anyone is really being ruled out |

I'd like to think we would show interest in any QB at this point. . I'd be happy with Dalton in the 2nd.. |

That's an impressive read, Farrar either has access to some scouting info. or he's very knowledgeable of the position & Locker's career. Reading this really conveys just how difficult it is to evaluate qb's at this level. It sounds like it's fair to say at this point that with his potential Locker could be the next John Elway. But unless a coach can remedy his poor decisions he might be the next Heath Shuler, who looked awfully good running the ball in DC, but we know how that turned out. |
Re: 2011 Senior Bowl Week
I do think this draft is so deep w/ offensive and defensive lineman we should be able to fill one if not both of those needs. They'll be a top olineman/dlineman when we make our 2nd pick.

Good read. I'm surprised that some people are so down on this guy. Yeah he needs work in some areas (who doesn't at this point?) but from what I hear from the analysts out there that I trust, he has a ton of upside and is very gifted athletically. If he's there at #10 I would think the Skins would be very interested in taking him. |
Re: 2011 Senior Bowl Week
Locker would be a good pick at 10, IDC what people say he's got all the intangibles. Locker over Newton anyday

So these "headscreaching moments"...the article really doesnt address them, just states them. Im glad he drops back better than anyone there, but the most important skill of the QB is throwing the ball. So absolutely miserable completion percentages he puts up very consistently and the horrible decision making INTs needs to be addressed. To say "mechanical", means project this late in the game. I say the body of work on tape speaks far more than than individual scripted workouts, an all star game and biggest crap hype of all of time, the combine. I really hope im wrong, but if we take him at 10 he could be maybe the biggest bust of all time. At least Jarmarcus had the stats to support the pick, Locker doesnt. |
Re: 2011 Senior Bowl Week
SmootSmack what's up with your boy Ponder? Apparently he looks pretty awful. I know he's had the elbow issue, but I hear he's telling everyone he's 100%...

Re: 2011 Senior Bowl Week
Not all QBs have the sexy stats coming out of college, and there have been plenty that did that ended up as busts.
Well I've seen him live in a game and he was awful
He wasn't too bad against USC, Syracuse or Oregon St. Now true he looked pretty bad passing the ball against Nebraska, but he still managed to beat a very tough Nebraska defense. I'll take a pro style qb that finds a way to win over one that finds ways to lose. We've had far too many of the later lately. |

Well he's not 100%, but apart from that yeah his arm isn't looking too strong. He shouldn't try to force it, in my opinion. I think his arm strength is decent but what's going to get him drafted are his intangibles, mobility, and accuracy |
Re: 2011 Senior Bowl Week
Christian Ballard is getting enough hype I think it is safe for me to quit hoping the Skins get him in the 2nd round.

Re: 2011 Senior Bowl Week
I watched the first 30 mins. of Tuesday's North practice. Two thoughts:
- The Jordan kid from Cal is quick, both hands & feet. Looks like a good motor. Would be a nice addition at DE for us. - Looking at Locker and the kid from Nevada....didn't see much difference between the two. Stanzi....meh. We need to stay away from QB at # 10. Maybe take a shot with Mallett if he drops to the 2nd or Dalton / Kap later in the draft. |

OLB - Von Miller Center - Hudson/Wisniewski QB - Dalton/Ponder The Dalton/Ponder idea would only work provided we trade players to receive a 3rd or maybe 4th round draft pick and either one of them is still there. |
Re: 2011 Senior Bowl Week
Damn this poll was hard for me. I really wanted to go with OL but i dont think there is a guard or center worth number 10 over all, and i feel like a tackle can be picked up in FA. I went with Trade the Pick, circa 2008's dream draft..... minus the guys we ended up getting. I still think that was the smartest thing Vinny ever did; great idea just very poor execution. Also im only up for trading up so we can get some more picks or players, not down.

True, good draft day maneovering by vinny. Saddest part of it was who Atl. got w/our 21st pick - OT Sam Baker, and who we got w/our 1st pick- D. Thomas. |
Re: 2011 Senior Bowl Week
Went with trade the pick (feel like it's kind of the cop out pick right now). I would really like to get a pick this year and next, but not sure that anyone on the board will demand enough interest. I still think 10 is one of the most tradeable picks out there, as someone will unexpectedly fall.
|
Re: 2011 Senior Bowl Week
BPA should be an option on the poll, as its the most sensible of all possible options.
|
Re: 2011 Senior Bowl Week
I took the LB option based on if Von Miller is there, if not DL with a DE pick as my second option. WR Green would be my overall option, but he is not going to fall.
|
Re: 2011 Senior Bowl Week
I think I'm the loner here wanting to draft Newton. He remindes alot of Big Ben.

It is painful how badly Vinny screwed up that draft with 3 second round picks. Could have had linebackers, corners, defensive lineman. Instead we end up with a backup Tight End (a position thats becoming easier and easier to find quality players), one receiver that cant grasp the mental side of the game and another one that cant even get on the field. |
Re: 2011 Senior Bowl Week
Voted for LB. I would take Gabbert if he's there unless there was one specific defensive player who we were really loving who unexpectedly dropped (Amakumara, for example, or perhaps Miller or Dareus). Or, of course, AJ Green, who would top my board for the Redskins. But assuming all the need + value players don't make it out of the top nine, Gabbert would be my target.
If all five of those players are gone, then I'm looking for OLBs or DEs such as Cameron Jordan, Robert Quinn, etc. My pick would be on that side of the ball. |

This poll should have it's own thread. I didn't expect a poll to start on page 5 of a thread. I also haven't figured out why so many posters want a QB there at #10. After all, didn't we drop #2 & #3 to get #5??? Who cares if he thinks he's better than what he is. He is what he is! BTW, don't you think all 31 other teams fans are targeting the same guys we do? |
