That's a horrible statement. Portis is NOT a cancer. He's more like an apocalyptic virus, kind of like the one in I am Legend or "Doomsday".

So far it looks like Rogers and Portis are running away with the votes. Funny story from last night.

Last night I was at a bar watching the Fins/Panthers and me and another guy were talking about football over shots and beer. He's a big Giants fan. Of course major shit talking ensued. So we we're trash talking back and forth and he said that if we could keep our players out of the clubs and partying the night before game day, we might win more games. He didn't drop any names, well one but he wasn't a Redskin. But that wasn't the first time I've heard locals talk about Skins players out and about on the town. In all honesty it's to be expected, but I wonder how far these guys take it.

I just hope we can hunker down these next four or five games and make it interesting.

My pick would have remained the same, ARE. Rogers would have been much less considering the the last game and his crazy ass comments fueled his votes. JC haters prob would have been bout the same and Portis would have been close I think as well. Landry would have been less since this season he has been a major disappointment.

I think if Hall was an option, he would be one of the top two, which I dont agree with being he is the only positive playmaker(he can be a negative pm as well) in the secondary. But that is what you get with Hall, inconsistency.

My answer is the same...I never liked the Portis trade from the git-go and i have been completely done with him for at least 2 years now. I hope he never plays again this year and then gets cut in the offseason before he has a shot at the Redskins rushing record.

I agree....let's hope Portis doesnt play again this season and is denied the redskins' rushing title. Honestly at this point guys he doesnt deserve it.

My personal choice of Santana would be the same.

Santana isn't an elite receiver, but he isn't a main problem right now.

Re: I'm So Done With...

I don't get the hate on Santana. Yes he isn't a #1 but if we put him in the slot he'd kill for us...providing we had decent outside WRs too. He isn't a bad player he is just miscast. He's as much of a #1 WR as Cooley is a LT or Haynesworth is a LB.

I don't know man. What has he done this year? He's made a ton of mental errors. That's not miscasting, that's lack of focus. Like I said earlier, it's all or nothing with Tanna. He's either getting the deep looks or nothing at all.

It's time for players to start producing where they are, not where they should be.

Clinton Tortoise or Clitoris Portis got my vote (today). He always either (a) tries to get to the corner that isn't there (b) fails to hit the hole or (c) trips on his own two feet. About a month or so ago I was sticking up for Portis and blaming the offensive line. Recently though, Betts and Cartwright have been running fine behind the same guys minus Samuels.

I'm actually genuinely curious of what fans thought of Riggins his first few years here, before he helped us get a ring. When he was (at the time) a high-priced free agent, with quirky behavior, questionable practice habits, skipping a year, the team doing ok but nothing all that great. Just wondering what the fan reaction was to Riggo's first five years here

I was pretty young at the time so while I loved Riggo I was a little to young to be as critical of his behavior as I tend to be now with players. Who knows how i would feel about a player like Riggins now...I suspect if he carried the Redskins to the Super Bowl I would tolerate his quirky behavior.

Portis has just always rubbed me the wrong way...I don't think his play has ever backed up the salary and status he has on the Redskins. I don't like the seperate set of rules that seem to apply to him or his perceived close relationship with management. All of it together makes a strong case for him being a team cancer.

I know Portis, Moss and ST used to hit the club circuit pretty hard back in the day. I wonder who else on the team would party hard... I get a feeling Rogers does. But no one else really stands out to me.

See the practice thing is something that seems to have come to light recently as an explanation for why Portis has struggled. The funny thing is we praised Kendall, who skipped virtually every practice that didn't involve shorts, and yet we criticize Portis who's practice habits seem to be at least on par with Kendall's, if not better.

So I guess the question is how do we feel about practice?

Ironically I think Portis is still on some level a team player. To me it seemed like there was no one happier for Betts and Cartwrights success then Portis was during the Bronco's game. I personally think it's time to say goodbye, but I don't think Portis is as big of a distraction as we make him out to be.

I think fans look at what he did in 2005 and in their minds, that's what he really is. But that was five year ago and he hasn't been close to that level since. He's been an absolute bum this season though.

Nobody who's rationally and objectively looking at Santana can say that he isn't in decline. He was part of the 2001 draft -- if nothing else, he's getting up there in football age. If there's a dropping of the ax and an 'out with old, in with the new' philosophy that takes hold here, Santana Moss has to be part of that discussion.

Yep. I think some of the guys we drafted last year get out and about pretty hard.

really, back then no one cared how much Cooke paid for talent. it was like if we needed a player, we got them. and the team was kind of average, along with Riggins play. there wasn't near the publicity around back then. so you could only gauge fans reaction to the people that you got to interact with.

Well, I voted for Rogers not because of all the bad press of late, but becuase of his poor on field performance. Then again, maybe we can trade him for another franchise runningback since he is so unhappy....

Joke.

What? Multiple false starts, holds on top of getting beat consistently and being a weakness in run-blocking don't do it for you?

I hope he isn't invited back to camp next year. His play disgusts me.

Re: I'm So Done With...

Heyer started out pretty well this year, but he hasn't improved one bit, which means he's probably not worth the money of another contract.

Some blame might go to the coaching staff for inexcusably trying to put him on the left side when Samuels went down, but it doesn't much matter to me. He hasn't developed and should probably take a back seat next year.

Near the top of my very long wishlist for next season, get Heyer out of the starting lineup!

InsaneBoost 11-30-2009 08:56 AM

Re: I'm So Done With...

If I had to choose everyone on that list from first to last.

I'd go with.

Carlos Rogers
Antwaan Randle-El
Clinton Portis
LaRon Landry
Jason Campbell
Santana Moss

This year Rogers has been getting us killed in the passing game, I think we can all agree on that. Heyer is a penalty machine whether its false starts or holding. Heyer would probably be my #2 after Rogers, but I think Heyer has 0 chance here next year while Rogers does unfortunately.

Re: I'm So Done With...

I voted campbell just from the frustration of watching him throw for 6 on a 3rd and 12 and give the guy no chance to get the extra yards. I dont think he has looked deep to Moss once this season.
