Why? I'm sure he will be hurt when we play against them. |
Re: Springs Released
he wont sign with the iggles
|
Re: Springs Released
I heard the iggles are highly interested, nothing you dudes haven't heard yet though.
|
Re: Springs Released
pfffft. I hope he signs with a team inside the NFC East so we can TORCH him every friggin game.

Re: Springs Released
They can't wait to trade a healthy CB in Lito..? To looking into getting an old good for 8 to 10 games if your lucky springs..? Now that makes alot of sense.
It would make more sense for him to land in NO with Williams IMO. I could really care less where he lands. If he signs with a foe like the sorry ass iggles...what are the chances he'll be 100% ready to play on any given Sunday? Not good. SPRINGS WILL VISIT THE EAGLES Posted by Mike Florio on March 3, 2009, 5:39 p.m. With cornerback Lito Sheappard traded to the Jets, the Eagles need a replacement on the depth chart. And they might have found one in Shawn Springs. The Eagles have announced that Springs will visit the team. In many cases with the Eagles, it’s a precursor to signing the player. The Eagles also have Asante Samuel, Sheldon Brown, and Joselio Hanson on the depth chart. Hanson recently signed a contract extension that entrenches him as the nickel back, at a minimum. So unless the Eagles are thinking about moving Brown, Springs would be the dime back, at best. |
Re: Springs Released
There's some speculation that if Springs goes to Philly, or even if he doesn't, Sheldon Brown may be part of a package that goes to St. Louis for Torry Holt

Wasn't Sheldon Brown already traded by the eagles? |

Yea i just looked it up, thanks though. |
Re: Springs Released
It's tough to see him go, but he is getting older and older and just can't stay healthy.
|
Re: Springs Released
I think it's a little strange Springs is shopping in Philly. His natural destinations would be Dallas (family), AZ (home?), or NO (connection to Williams). I don't want to think he's looking at another NFC East rival to spite us but i never thought a lot of Springs anyway...
|
Re: Springs Released
I think it's more that Philly values him than the other way around.

I don't understand how they don't value Dawkins, but value Springs. I accept that Dawkins skills were declining, and Springs skills when healthy are still above average to excellent. Even so, I just don't get it - Dawkins gave Philly EVERYTHING every game, Springs just couldn't stay on the field long enough to be reliable. |

Wow. It looks like it's going to be Philly. Ain't that just a kick in the crotch.

Very true. A stiff breeze is enough to cause Springs to miss a game and its far windier in Philly than it is in DC. |

Denver minus Shanahan appears to be one of those organizations with no direction. But it absoultely hurts the quality of the Eagles defense. They simply got outbid. |

So I think the organization could have made a counter offer close and still got him back. |

One that, by neccessity, requires that none of the megalomaniac teams freak out and throw something close to ten million dollars guaranteed at a safety over the age of 35.
The Eagles absoulely got boned here. But they did play it by the book. I guess at this point, you look at their cap situation and wonder why they aren't picking their spots better to deviate from the book. Again, that doesn't make this a wrong move by the Eagles, but the big problem is that you can very easily predict what they are going to do personnel wise. |
Re: Springs Released
For Dawkins though, oh boy! Last year, he's the 7th or 8th best player on his defense, and half of his responsibilities are Joe Gibbs type managerial roles out there on the field.
This year, he's a year older, and he's all they've got. |

And that message is fine for some players, but a lot, like Kurt Warner for example, want that feeling of "Hey I am appreciated here". Maybe that doesn't matter, but I know for me, I appreciate it when my employer makes gestures that let me know I am more than just a cog in a machine. (Even if I really am) |
Re: Springs Released
Tra Thomas is a bit miffed right now that the Eagles don't want him, but the OL did decline last year with Shawn Andrews out and Thomas and Runyan seem to be the main culprits for that.
Still, I'd offer Tra a contract. (as the Eagles, not the Redskins) |
Re: Springs Released
you wouldn't want tra or dawkins on the skins at big contracts for the same reasons the eagles don't want them.
they simply don't overpay for average players (often... they missed on paying kearse and missed on not paying burgess when he left). they rather have a 3rd round pick pick than an overpaid slow safety. whether he's a hometown hero isn't really relevant to them. I totally understand the move, even though it will hurt the locker room. |

We'll send Smoot over to ask him how his hamstring (or knee, or pinky finger) is doing and Springs will ask to be held out of the game after he remembers the "pain" he had to experience. |

LOL....I feel your pain bro. It's been so long it feels forever since we've been a competitive presence in the NFL. Just wait until this cap goes away...lord willing...we'll be kicking ass in no time. |

Re: Springs Released
Boy do I hate the Patriots. He probably signed for like a million bucks, too.
I thought Greg Lewis getting traded by Philly was interesting. I would expect them to bring in at least one of the bigger named receivers. |
Re: Springs Released
i want to see the numbers, but springs can still play, so he'll help them, even if it's not a full 16 games.
