Re: JGR: Stewart Wrecks #11 Denny Hamlin
You're twisting everything...how freakin hard would it have been to PASS him? They do it at EVERY RACE...passing is a part of the sport...but I guess Tony is too good to leave his line. HAHAHA. 100% tony's fault. No other way of looking at this.
Keep in mind that bumping is just as much a part of the sport...especially when it involves a teammate. In fact, Kyle Busch complained that he didn't win because his teammates didn't bump-draft him at the end. |

What do you know about that kind of stuff? How many hours a year do you put into watching NASCAR? 2000? You act like it's your job or something. |

smoot, after listening to you.... and SEEING the race. What other side is there? I think? at least some of the people know something about racing that are posting on this thread, from what I've read. You've been doing your NASCAR job for however long.....not to throw age into this,( because often that doesn't mean jack) but I've been involved with NASCAR/STOCK CAR RACING for alot longer than yourself, just due to I'm quite a bit older than yourself and I understand it well. Do you really believe TS was NOT at fault? |

Umm, it's either Stewarts fault, or it isn't. I've heard the side of the story of "it's not", but everyone that says it is a Stewart fan. Using the laws of the road, and physics, it's tony's fault. You even admitted it likely is his fault. You can always look at an orange and say it's purple, but it's the common sense part that takes over and tells you..."No, that's orange". This is one of those cases. It's not hard to figure out at all, the whole world saw him ram Hamlin. Keep in mind that Stewart was also in "the draft", so he will of course go faster than Hamlin due to less wind resistance. Please, tell me this...why in the world did he not slow down, or pass him? |

Do you really believe TS was NOT at fault?
I do know that there are plenty of people who know about racing posting on this thread. But I also know that there are plenty that don't really know. I also know that there are plenty of people that are basing their decisions on their preconceived notions of Tony Stewart. Or at least letting those notions severely influence their judgment. I can't really argue the point of what kind of people Stewart and Hamlin truly are when the cameras aren't rolling or the type of teammates they are because all I can offer is my own personal encounters with the two. People want to believe that Stewart is a jerk then what can I do about it. I know what he is really like (so do his teammates) and I also know that he shouldn't have said what he said. Now, as someone who understands NASCAR, then you certainly understand the points I've made several times-that just because a lead driver is bumped from behind doesn't mean that's a bad thing, that it's extremely dangerous to attempt a bump-draft on a corner, that Stewart has been one of the most vocal drivers against bump-drafting on the corner, that either Stewart sped up too fast too soon or Hamlin slowed down. And that both are great drivers with nothing to gain from wrecking. Someone obviously messed up. And it was probably Stewart. Especially when you consider that he knew Hamlin's car was running tight. I suspect they were going to do a bump-draft on the upcoming straightaway. Though, in my opinion, that'd be way too early in the race. But the point is that to the average fan it's natural to see a crash and say well the person who made the initial hit must be at fault. And that a hit is a bad thing. But, as you well know, that's not always the case. I've definitely learned a lot about NASCAR and its intricacies, and I thought maybe I'd share some of that with those that don't have the same information and access to that information. But if people don't care to hear it, I'll gladly stop talking about it. |

I think him a Jr. are the only 2 drivers in the Chase without a win. Smoke will grab a win soon. I just hope Denny gets a couple more before we start Chasing. |
Re: JGR: Stewart Wrecks #11 Denny Hamlin
Well Clint Bowyer doesn't have a win yet either, nor does Kyle Busch on the Cup side. Junior better step it up, especially next year. He's got all the tools and support he needs at Hendrick. Time for him to win

Yeah, I think his first win will come at the Brickyard in two weeks. Who knows, it might be sooner.

Re: JGR: Stewart Wrecks #11 Denny Hamlin
Ahhhh.... they have not really put this all behind them. Tony did finally get it at the end of this piece where he says he should have kept his mouth shut. Also shows that JGR as well as the millions of fans all finally saw the same thing. Tony Wrecked Hamlin

I particularly like some of these quotes: "I think at the time neither Joe nor J.D. had really seen a pretty good replay. I don't think they had realized," Hamlin said. "We've talked since then and I think they realize exactly what happened. Millions and millions of people watching with their opinions know what happened. You know, let them judge. Interesting, I wonder if anyone will change their mind now that they know that Gibbs knows it was Stewart's fault? "I think every five, six months it seems like he kind of goes through a very angry stage," Hamlin said. "Evidently I set something off last weekend. But Tony is going to be Tony. He's always like that. "I'm not saying it's OK. But it's just him." I chose not to throw Tony under the bus -- and he chose a different road than what I did." "I don't feel like I'm ahead of him. He's still the leader of Joe Gibbs Racing, without a doubt," Hamlin said. "He's a guy, who really, when I need help, I'll still go to regardless. "But there's a point where being a leader doesn't always make you right." And if I were Stewart, this would be the one that hurt the most: But, you know, I always knew you got to take things with Tony with a grain of salt. You might want to listen to him, but you don't always want to do the same things he does." I think we all gave a little chuckle to the idea that they "patched things up". Tony doesn't seem like the type to let things go. This link was great to understanding that Gibbs would love to get them both to shut up and settle it behind closed doors, but this is pretty big. Most of the world KNOWS that Stewart rammed him...we just don't know why. I believe it was because Stewart is wreckless, but maybe it's something else. Most fans of Stewart would like to think it was Hamlin, but again, since when is it the leader's fault when he gets hit from behind? Stewart is in the lead right now (I'm watching the race) and I hope someone wrecks him from behind and then head how his tune will change. (now he's pitting) |
Re: JGR: Stewart Wrecks #11 Denny Hamlin
Wierd...
I was just watching Jr. catch up (and quickly) to Bowyer, and sure enough, Jr. slowed up, then passed him. How odd!!??? Why go around when you can go through??? I guess not everyone prescibes to Tony's theories. Also, I was playing NASCAR 08, and I slowed up on purpose...not a single person hit me. They passed me. Even on the rookie rating, they realize not to ram someone. Funny. |
Re: JGR: Stewart Wrecks #11 Denny Hamlin
Coach Gibbs is da man!!! In football and NASCAR. JGR wins at Chicago!!! Even with Stewart.

Well then...I guess it was sooner :) Good for Tony. He's been racing really well the last several weeks. And, hard as it is for some to believe, the last thing he wanted last week to wreck out of the race while running in 2nd last week. All the haters can go cry in their bbq smokers now :) I hope he learns to keep his mouth shut though because most people only know of Tony what they see and hear on camera. If they really spent time with him and with Denny they woudn't be so sympathetic to Hamlin. Anyway, I'm done with the Denny and Tony debate. I'm glad Tony got the win and I hope they both race well the rest of the year. Others want to keep harping on last week, go right ahead |

Maybe Stewart tried to wreck him on purpose cause Hamlin is in 2nd place and is a better driver. Stewart is like a little kid and got all jealous.
