meh whatever SA will either be terrible this year or get injured...id never wish injury on someone...but it will be easier beating the seahawks in the NFC game w/ out him

speaking of Madden curse..in the 360 version if you pick the Redskins as your favorite team you get a nice full photo wallpaper of none other than...Ladell Betts.

That's really odd... what do other teams have?

Seems strange they wouldn't go for one of the bigger name guys like Moss, Portis, Washington, Cooley, etc. But a 2nd string RB? Weird.

Thats what i'm saying. most of the other teams have their big stars as the wallpaper.

i dunno, someone at EA on the 360 team is totally ignorant of the Redskins because they can't play at home in whites at all, only in darks. even if you pick away. cowboys sure play in white at home tho...
The arrival of Duckett wasnt a warm welcome among our RB's today to say the least. Naturally b/c someone will have to sell their home, leave their comfort zone with a team, say bye to friends, not get a SB ring and move to the next town. Its kinda sad to see these pro athletes to travel so much but the days of franchise players like Ripken or R.Lewis who mean so much to the town and club they are cemented there forever seem to be gone. However, this is a business and even civilians face this day to day.

The Defense I know will appreciate it so they dont have to worry about that matchup later in the season against Atl. This move will keep the Offense on the field longer or may backfire and well score 80 yd TD on the first play giving the Defense no rest. Those guys Im sure may have formed a bond with Betts(assuming he's traded) but would rather have a trophy and ring over a couple year bond.

I hope Portis can understand the bigger picture here to get to the super bowl but he seems like the type of territorial player that this is going to be a problem for his ego. With Betts Portis knew who was the Boss, but TJ is a grown man also who was picked before him in the draft so I hope there isnt any Alpha male issues yet to unfold. Portis has to know he will be our #1 guy and co-face of the team for years, but nowdays players can have such hissy fits to want to up and leave. CP said earlier he wants to be done by the 3rd qtr laughing on the sideline. This move seems he may just get that often. Its a bad vibe of chemistry I am hoping will swing positive.

Do you guys think Duckett's arrival will disrupt or be a problem for Portis ????
s

You know what I say about how the other back-ups feel about it? Well prove that you can be the man! In that last preseason game I saw nothing that impressed me from our back-ups. And obviously the way these guys looked in practice didn't give the coaches a warm fuzzy. That game against the jets just simply sucked!

Let me add my 2 cents. We all know Portis wanted help in the backfield. I mean real help. Not a RB that stays injured more than he does. Portis tried to convince Edgerin James to sign with us, but EJ wasn't ready to share the spotlight. Portis is secure with his role as a leader on this team. That's why we have added so many guys from the "U" ie. Santana Moss, Sean Taylor,
Rocky Mcintosh and Mike Rymph. Portis definitley has the coaches attention.

T.J. Duckett is what we have needed since the loss of Stephen Davis. Can you imagine what Coach Gibbs would have done with a healthy Stephen Davis? Down hill runners fit Saunders and Gibb's system perfectly. That's why Larry Johnson was so successful in KC last year.

why are we talking about portis getting released or traded? looking way too far ahead.
why are we talking about portis getting released or traded? looking way too far ahead.
Absolutely not. I think someone is suggesting Portis's run with the Redskins will end with a trade. Let's say 2020.

and go to the relocation thing and you'll see the redskins can move from washington DC to washington DC (the one they start in has a MUCH lower population AND a MUCH lower average income than the one they can move to). if you move, you'll no longer get fedex field (which makes 8$mill a game, whereas the best custom only makes about $7mill) and you can get the special logos for the 70th anni jerseys or the custom Burg/gold sock stripes.

fruity.

that was a joke. he new there was no way the money could have worked. he wasn't happy tj came here, as was seen in his first reactions, so thinking edge would come in and take half the snaps without him being upset probably isn't reality. talk is cheap.

Picking up players from the U has more to do with their talent than portis's leadership skills. Rumph and Moss were simply the offers on the table, McIntosh was the last impact OLB left when it was time to pick. Taylor was just a great pick. Portis's vote of confidence doesn't hurt, but i doubt the entire FO staff makes financial and business decisions based on one biased player's views (who, by the way, doesn't need to worry about the money, cap, or player concerns).

wondering what gibbs could have/would have done with a healthy (and let's not forget, fumble prone) davis is a moot point, since he had exactly ONE good year after leaving (and he wanted some insane $10mill a year to stay).
