Re: Taylor Jacobs
Well, if he had more opportunities, I'm sure he'd do just fine.

Re: Taylor Jacobs
Right now Brunell is really locked on to Moss, and Cooley, and yes Cooley is a much bigger part of the game plan than other TE's, and H-backs in the past, I don't know if it's so much Jacobs fault right now, rather more so the productivity of Moss, and Cooley, and to a lesser degree Sellers, Patton see's very little as well and he's a proven game breaker, I just think Brunell is locked in right now on those 3, but he should look to spred it around and get comfortable with the other guy's, because it's front page news at this point if you want to beat us, take Moss, and Cooley out of the game, and it's only a matter of time before we see a heavy dose of that by defenses, ala the Giant game.
Offiss, you hit the nail on the head. I feel like the Giants took out Moss and maybe Cooley and then everyone else just started dropping balls. I am sure the Bucs have noticed this as well. They have a good D. It worries me for this weekend. However the Panthers are worse with Steve Smith being their only guy and he STILL makes plays, so who knows how all of this will play out. |
Re: Taylor Jacobs
I agree. Harris has been getting worked on his side. He constantly whiffs tackles, and I've noticed also that lately he's been playing really soft coverage giving the WR's all types of cushion. Personally, I think we're better off with Carlos Rogers starting opposite of Springs. He's a much, much better tackler than Harris. And seems to be tougher against the run.
Hasn't anyone noticed that Rogers has had some forced fumbles, but we've never recovered them.
I wonder if Harris is still feeling the effects of his quad injury. His tackling wasn't really an issue last season, during the preseason, or early this season. |

If he'd earned more opportunities, he'd get them. |

Agreed. If three time Pro Bowler, LaVar Arrington has to earn his way back onto the field, there's no way in hell the unproven, unhealthy(in general), third stringer, Taylor Jacobs, should be given anything. |
Re: Taylor Jacobs
Having toooo many weapons to throw to is a good thing! As you will recall, the Boys of the nineties at their best had several basic targets. The playmaker, Jay Novacek, Emmitt, and whoever the 2nd reciever was. They were unstoppable.
It's not a bad formation. As have already been identified, we have some other guys we can work in more as well. |
Re: Taylor Jacobs
Alvin Harper... he was terrible.

oh yea! that's him |
Re: Taylor Jacobs
i would be really surpised if taylor jacobs made the team next year.hurt way too often
The thing I do not understand about the Jacobs situation is, despite the fact he has had problems with injuries, when he's not injured he still does not get any playing time. |

injures = missed practice time, sos maybe he got behind there and just hasn't proven enough... thrash IS good for the clutch catch on 3rd and long every now and then, so its not like he's battling a practice squad reject. Still, if he's supposed to be so great, you figure he'd have shown it on scout team or whatever... |
Re: Taylor Jacobs

True, but they never had the kind of season that Cooley is having. Cooley is on pace for 70 catches.
Agreed. Cooley just has a knack for getting open. And he has good hands overall. He had one bad game against the vaGiants with the rest of the team. He also seems to get extra yardage after he catches the ball and likes to make a hit. I love this guy! |
Re: Taylor Jacobs
What gets Sellers and Cooley open is the deceptive play where they start out on the line and fade to the flats for the pass. The opponents are so concerned with the blocking scheme that they forget about these guys.

Re: Taylor Jacobs
If it were me, I would have kept McCants and cut Jacobs. Jacobs seems to be the anti-McCants. Great practice player, but in the game, nothing. As someone already said, the coaching staff must see something that we don't see.

Yeah, that they wasted a second round pick on this no-show. They are waiting and hoping to get some return on their big investment. The excuses are many...if he didn't get hurt...if he got more playing time...if Moss and Patten did not get all the balls..etc..etc.. Jacobs needs to step it up and make the coaches notice him and want to play him. I do not think he has the ability do that. |

And I don't think this was one of those guys (Rock, Ramsey) that DS was pushing for. |
