Re: Should Gruden be fired ?
I think this is similar to the Cousins situation, you can make arguments and excuses for the lack of wins, but I just think the team needs to move on from him.
Regardless of what happens, I think Manusky needs to get canned right away. His unit has NO EXCUSE for their declining performance.
I came here to write pretty much exactly this. Manusky should be canned, he has most of his personnel and it's not bad personnel. But Gruden chose Manusky. I had concerns at the time that he wasn't considering his options well enough, sticking with an in-house candidate due to familiarity and continuity. It tells me Jay is too conservative, unimaginative and too unwilling to expand his horizons. You can't say Jay didn't pick the players, he's had a lot of say in drafts. You can't say Jay doesn't call the plays and own the game plan. And you can't say Jay didn't pick the coaches. He picked them all. Someone else should get a shot to show what they can do with this roster. A good coach will get them into the playoffs, there's enough talent. |

Dude should have been fired last year, but I gave him a pass on the injuries. Fact is, he's a mediocre coach who instills absolutely NO discipline in his team. It shows on the field. |

Re: Should Gruden be fired ?
I don't know if i would fire Gruden just yet. When McCoy went down they started blitzing and stacking the box preparing for the run. Sanchez only knew a handful of play. Next week wont be much better. It's hard to run an aging back with 7 or 8 men in the box.. The Quarterback had no clue where half his receivers were during plays. The Dude just walked in off the street. Literally!
Firing Gruden wouldn't really in my opinion be fair. Its really hard to game plan or call plays with these types of injuries. How are you suppose to call a game when your QB doesn't know the playbook. You Can't. I don't think they should fire Gruden.. I Mean- I would like to see a new group come in and take us to 11-1 like Sean McVay is doing with the Rams but that's not gonna happen. and it wouldn't be right. |
Re: Should Gruden be fired ?
Not sure jay is the sole reason we are where we are but he is the head guy and he needs to take the fall. We also need a change at this point might as well start st the top.

Except more exclamation points. So undisciplined. Never prepared. Always slow out of the gates in the second half. His staff is crap. He has a fucking God awful confused look on his face all the time. Terrible play calling with or without a good quarterback or injuries. I mean what exactly has anyone who wants him here still seen that makes you feel that way? I hear a lot of excuses about injuries, but wtf did he ever do when the team was healthy. You could argue that even in a win he has made it more difficult than it had to be. If he is back next year I might as well take the season off. Some people have the chops to be HC’s and some do not. I was all for it when we hired him, gave him plenty of chances but he doesn’t have the chops. He is not the entire problem by any means (poor home field advantage, shit drafts and shit trades - poor mismanagement of all things player personnel, etc) but he is not a part of the solution so it all goes out the window anyway. Like I said he holds us back win or lose. |
Re: Should Gruden be fired ?
I say yes. I think we've seen enough out of Gruden by now to know what you get.
His team's are consistently not prepared, and show up Flat. He's a poor man's Jeff Fisher. He will always hover around 8-8 / 9-7. His teams are not the WORST in the NFL but they are nowhere near the best. You can use injuries as an excuse but something is fishy when his teams are among the most injured in the NFL year after year. Could all of the light practices and "Club Jay" BS have to do with that? |
Re: Should Gruden be fired ?
Cooley critiqued Gruden's offensive system and play calling on his podcast today in a way I haven't heard today.
He went into the disconnect between the passing game and running game and analogized it to a situation he was involved in during Gibb's 2.0. I would suggest listening to it if you have an opportunity but gist of it is Callahan is the run game coordinator, and O'Connell is the pass game coordinator; and the tendencies of each don't match the other. That we are losing on play action because our runs don't look like our passes. He also lamented the reliance on the pound draw play rather than using it as a change of pace. This is the play we see week in and week out where the line soft sets and has zero leverage on the run play. You know the one, the one that ends in 2nd and 8. |

Should Gruden be fired ?
Did anyone see how much urgency, energy, and passion Philly played with last night? Compare that to the Skins. They played dead, no energy, no urgency. Yawn....Again. On prime time. Big game. We looked like complete shit BEFORE McCoy went down.
That’s coaching. That’s the difference between Gruden and Doug Peterson. Gruden needs to go Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Should Gruden be fired ?
Playcalling has been crap since McVay left.
Haslett, Barry, Manusky. The guy can't pick a d-coordinator for shit. I'm sure there's another reason I could find. Fire Gruden, but moreso fire Allen with him. |

The guy who picked Gruden, mishandled Cousins, and has mastered most of these bad personnel moves is Allen. He should go before anyone else Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Should Gruden be fired ?
After five years, he is a 500 coach. No more, no less. Could he be better with a better front office? Yes, but we will never know. This should be his last year with the skins. We should thank him for the best five year run since Turner.
The bigger issue is Allen. |

Who knows, maybe Cousins would've stayed. Probably a long shot on that, but I think since McVay went to LA, there was no option for Snyder and he probably had no choice but to keep Gruden one more year. I will be totally shocked if Gruden is the coach in 2019, unless Allen stays and unless the 'skins somehow make it into the playoffs with butt fumble. |
