Re: Debate: Julio Jones or A.J. Green?
Does anyone here know much about Jerell Jernigan? I've heard his name mentioned a few times associated with the Skins. Not as a first rounder, of course.

But we REALLY need to find some OL talent somehow.[/quote] Not with the #10 overrall pick in this draft we dont. We need guards and centers. We would not use a top 10 pick on either of those positions. We are GARBAGE. With the 10th pick, we have to pick an impact player for a position of need. Whoever Shanahan has rated highest on his board (for position of need) once our pick comes around, that's who we need to pick. Whether it's a QB, WR, DE, DT, OR LB. If we dont like who's available at point, and if the right opportunity presents itself, trade down and acquire more pick. I'd LOVE if we can pick up one of the stud centers in this draft with our 2nd round pick. |

The NFL Mock Draft Database at DC Pro Sports Report, which crunches the results of various mock drafts around the web, has the Redskins picking Alabama WR Julio Jones with the tenth pick. Of the 59 mocks they surveyed, 29 have Jones going to Washington at number ten. |

Julio Jones = Rod Gardner 2.0

Oh no, a 1,000 yard receiver with at least 600 yards in his worse years.....please don't. Not even saying that Julio and Rod are the same player but if you really want to scare people away from Julio compare him to Devin. In retrospect we probably should have kept Rod as he would have been a better option at receiver then ARE. Not to mention the fact that Rod was the best QB the Redskins had in 2003, and yes I said QB. |

If Julio Jones mirrors Rod Gardner's numbers he'll be a labeled a bust for sure. Especially for the 10th pick, let alone the 15th. How many Pro Bowls did Rod make? 0. Dude was a bust IMO. Not as bad as Devin and Taylor Jacobs, but still a bust. The drops is what concerns me, member Roddy poo and the drops? I think AJ is the only WR worth a top 10 pick. |

Yes, but that can only happen a maximum of 9 times and that isn't even likely to happen. That's because some of the players drafted 1-9 will be players who don't fit our needs well or who we just don't want. Plus, there will be obvious mistakes made by one or more of the teams drafting ahead of us. It happens every year. Those mistakes are why some of the teams drafting ahead of us are drafting where they are to begin with. I think #10 is a satisfactory draft position this year. There is no obvious Franchise QB in this draft for us to miss out on and there will be more than one player who can help us who will be available at #10. The worst case scenario might even be considered the best case by some of us. That is, trading down from #10. I wouldn't mind that, as long as we select tough linemen (DL or OL) with two of our first three picks. Feel better? Concerning the topic of this thread, I'd take Green because he has better hands and he's uninjured. |

Here's a report I read on him SS. Strengths A dedicated lifter Jernigan has gone from 168 pounds when he stepped on campus to almost 190 and he's also dropped his 40 time to the 4.3s. Very elusive and quick. Strengths * Lightning quick slot receiver/kick returner prospect He displays efficient and decisive change of direction with rare agility, which makes him a dangerous runner in the open field and a threat after the catch. Jernigan is a smaller target but is very quick and fast, despite his frame he is not afraid to go across the middle and could stretch defenses with that speed. Jernigan has been timed as fast as 4.34 40 yard dash, and could be used out of the backfield and as a kick returner. He flashes elite speed and acceleration the ball is in his hands and is sudden into and out of his breaks. He possesses good leaping ability and body control, he adjusts well to the ball in the air and is willing to catch passes in traffic. Weaknesses To offset his size he may need to run crisper routes. A concern is that he may have trouble with physical press and bump corners in the NFL. Also due to his size he likely does not project as an outside receiver in the NFL. He will need to expand his route tree as he caught primarily slants, hitches shallow crosses and bubble screens. Due to his size he struggles to beat the jam at the line. Jernigan is smaller than your prototypical NFL receiver, and though he gives real effort as a blocker he simply is a bit sup-par in that area. Projection I think he'll go in the 2nd round. I can see him being a valuable slot option, but he could probably carry more of the load if he needed to. He's got a pretty good character and work ethic. He makes things happen when the ball's in his hands. And he could play a very versatile role with the right team, lining up anywhere from the outside to the slot to 'Wild__, in the backfield. And he should become an explosive return man as well. Jerigan is a play-maker his speed and big-play ability will make him attractive any time after the 1st. He should be a solid second-round selection in the 2011 NFL Draft. The Colts with picks 53 and 58 might consider has as may the Seahawks with #57, and likely will be the 3rd, 4th or 5th WR off the board. |
