Just to clear up this. You have to have 2 people between you and the goal. The keeper came out for the cross so there was only the defender on the line between the scorer and the goal. Correctly given offside. |
Re: The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread
Good luck USA, should be a close game and could go either way.

Re: The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread
Oh man I hope Howard is ok. Without him we're done.
This English team could win the whole thing. Gerrard, Lampard, Rooney, Terry... They're loaded |

Re: The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread
Man, the US should have won with how many quality shots they had on goal and I was happy to see them try to go for the win. Ingland is done IMO...no defense no goalie no WC Championship.
Germany looked amazing...technically sound and beautiful football. |
Re: The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread
I thought we played well after the England goal, and I'm not too proud to accept some luck on Dempsey's goal. Particularly satisfied with Gooch's performance given his lack of playing time since his injury.
I don't think England is done, they just showed that they won't be able to win it all with their current goalkeeper. Their defense was pretty solid and only gave up a few chances. They're still a great team. I agree that Germany looked ridiculously good. |

One of the commentators initially said the Mexicans were robbed of a goal since the South African defender was on the line, but then never said anything similar during later replays. You could tell someone in the booth whispered the rule in his ear and he tried not to bring his mistake to light. |

On another front, go Japan! |

They should've instituted a mercy rule in that match. Germany looks like the best of those that've played so far. BTW- anybody else love that Dodge Challenger commercial? A bit on the "wtf" side, but great in its own way. |

Re: The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread
I don't think England's done. Not sure why Capello picked Green over James, as James is much more seasoned and a better keeper. I wonder if it was arrogance on England's part. They have too much talent to be done, but stranger things have happened (See France 2002).
Was surprised to see Ghana win without Essien, but they looked solid. Can't wait for tomorrow's Portugal/Cote d'Ivorie matchup. Even if Drogba can't go, they are still solid and I hope that put that greasy mullet in his place. |

They have to get bigger to play with the big boys...I don't think they have it in them but time will tell. Should be interesting to see Ivory Coast vs. Protugal. I like both teams but without Drogba I don't know where they're going to get the goals from. |
