Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
The best part is that even our 5th receiver will contribute and be solid and let's not forget our 2 TE's.
Another person would benefit is.... Portis. He will get some better looks. With the better looks maybe he could be a big play back again. Big play as in a TD run or runs of more than 20-30 yards. |
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
Well, dammit, he better be good at #2 as well. I actually took a risk in both FF leagues I am in and drafted kelly as a bench player because of the starting role.

Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
With this move, two mismatches are created. One is Kelly vs a typical #2 corner. In man coverage, Kelly has a huge advantage and in zone, JC can get away with a tight throw.
The other is ARE vs. a 3rd corner or LB. |
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
Im just glad that we have 5 really good receivers this year. They all bring something different to our offense. When I watch Marko Mitchell he reminds me of Randy Moss. Both are tall lean and have really good hands. Marko isn't as fast but he maybe our poor mans version of Randy Moss. I take a poor version anyday. Congrats Malcom Kelly on working hard and please stay healthy.

Perhaps a stretch... We only had 2 last year with pretty much the same people. Lets see how Kelly does in a starting #2 role first for a few games before terms like good are thrown around. For me, he has to stay on the field as #2 without rotation if he is going to be considered good. We had way too much rotation at the WR position last year, I can't see how any starting WR can catch a groove with the offense doing that. Being that Thomas is healthy and selected before Kelly but is not starting should give some insight on how "good" he is. God bless him but his situation is not looking good right now. |
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
I dunno, I think I am gonna wait and see as well. A lot of love for three receivers (Kelly, Thomas, and Mitchell) who have caught <20 balls..it's still gonna be Moss and Cooley that will have to carry us from a receiving standpoint. I do agree that the best thing about Kelly being our #2 is that Randle El's can move to his best position in this offense. He will have a chance to catch 65 balls this year in the slot...

I agree. Now that ARE is where we planned on using him to begin with...he'll show why we signed him. |
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
Here's another story on DT, not as upbeat, but I like the attitude Zorn's explanation about DT and kickoff returns displays.
Redskins Insider - Zorn: No Special Treatment for D. Thomas
He expects Thomas to conduct himself as a professional. "I think it helps a guy to get the ball, but I'm hoping that he can do it ... maybe somebody just has to smack him on the sideline," Zorn said. "You know, something to get him fired up. I don't want to put that [additional duties] on a guy to always have to be ready. "He's going to kind of hold us hostage, 'Well, you didn't put me on the kickoff, so that's why I didn't play well.' That doesn't make any sense."
|

Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
Man, I guess ARE's Hall of Fame campaign begins today now that he's in that magical slot position.

Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
I hope Malcom will find the end zone at least 5-8 TD's this season.
