oh my god that is CLASSIC .. anyone who doesn't appreciate that rant by BLACHE doesn't like football .. Blache was fired up, Trevor asked the wrong question at the wrong time that set him off .. I love it .. I can only pray that the defense is as fired up as that dude ..

Hail Blache

Exactly what we need, some pisstivity, even if it's unwarranted. Gregg Blache is running the defense, not running for mayor. Too bad it wasn't Chick Hernandez that asked that question.

Here's your Blache-defense, courtesy of a most unlikely source:
- And now for something completely different: Redskins defensive coordinator Greg Blanche (sic) gives as good as he gets. After the Redskins’ preseason loss to the Patriots, ‘Skins DC Greg Blanche fielded a question about the play of his defensive line against Tom Brady. After giving an answer (a somewhat informative one, I thought) Blanche turns the tables, and fires the question back to the questioner, Trevor Matich. Matich looked disgusted, and Chris Chase over at Shutdown Corner questions Blanche’s decision to fire back, but I actually thought it was kind of refreshing. Blanche was generally good natured about it, and had brought up a good point, that “pressure on the QB” is not the end all be all of defense. Now, the ‘Skins’ haven’t exactly been great in the pressure department, but Blanche is right that a guy like Brady is adept at checking plays and doing things to either negate pressure or figure out when there won’t be much. In any event, judge the interchange for yourselves:
Pisstivity ... now that could become a classic word. :laughing2

Zorn thinks we need to "act medium" .. you say more "pisstivity" ... Let's have a vote people... which way should we go!??!

I'd like to see some pisstivity from the defense. Let the offense "act medium".

If coach doesn't want to be asked about our pass rush ,,, maybe he should come up with a scheme/game plan that actually hits the qb ? I do not have a problem with his response , and I like coach Blache , but it wasn't like he was asked " your pass rush sucked " what are you doing ? Lets just hope on 9-14- 09 , we hear " coach , how did you get to poor lil Eli 8 times today " , and have you ever had two int's returned for tds in 1 qtr before today ?

I think both of them are OK with what transpired. An analyst doesn't always ask questions about what he has observed. Matich wasn't impying that the team still isn't pressuring opposing teams' QBs. It seems that he was just following up on the the storyline of the addition of rookie sensation Orakpo and stud FA aquistion Haynesworth. And of course the questions are a result of previous years lack of production. Blache could've dodged the question with saying something like 'we're getting there' but, it's obvious that the analysts are irritating Blache by questioning something that has showed no reason to be questioned. And maybe him barking back will stop the redundancy. Despite the obvious increase of pass rush from the DL, Blache feels that it hasn't so far.

Looks like Tanner found a new bffl in Trevor. But seriously Tanner could learn a thing or two about how to deal with that situation from Matich. Matich will deal with it professionally, and he will have to interact with Blache for the next season.

Would Tanner be able to interact with Randy Moss all year if he had to? Hey it would be great blog material though..

Doesn't he get paid to go on the show each week and answer questions?

I LOVE that Blache is still wearing the #21 patch on his shirt.

Blache was just grumpy. Whatever. Matich looked like a deer in headlights. LOL.
I know someone on this board who might have an opinion on this...

But anyhow, maybe next time I see Matich hanging around my office I'll ask him about it

Have you seen Matich's latest blog post? "Greg Blache is a classy guy...not"

But seriously...this kind of reminded me of the time Brunell got pissed at Czaban when Czabe asked him if he would offer to basically bench himself for the good of the team. But anyway, Blache basically put it out there when he said several years ago that "sacks were overrated" and our pass rush has been suspect so, like it or not, he's going to get questions about our pass rush and how he plans on addressing it. And he's not the reporter asking the questions, so he doesn't have to "throw questions" back at Matich
I was watching this live myself and I thought it was a little much. Matich bends over backwards to be fair and for Blache to jump him strikes me as odd.

I agree about Matich. He's very fair and not confrontational at all. I hope he asks about d-line pressure after the Jags game. Something like, "Coach, the d-line got a lot of pressure on the QB tonight, did that help the DB's get those INT's and....could you walk the audience through what it's like to be an old grouch"? Blache might actually get a kick out of that.....or not.

Re: Blache goes off on reporter

Blache could have been more tackful, but being ask the same ole same ole does get tiring. Look at the Campbell issue about being traded. It seemed like every time he was talked to, it was always the same questions about that whole ordeal. You can bet if the skins where plain out perfect, the reporters would still find something to try and get someone to harp on. Why? Because people are never happy enough with anything any more. I feel that these reporters keep asking the same questions over and over, is to see if they can get a rise out of who they are asking the questions to. One thing with the media is, if you don't give them something to write about, their going to come up with something of their own to write about.
