Tony Gonzalez
Antonio Gates Jason Witten Dallas Clark Owen Daniels
I'd go with Gonzalez Gates Chris Cooley Heath Miller Owen Daniels Zach Miller will be on that list sooner than later. I know Miller's numbers aren't impressive relative to others on the list, but I think he's solid |
Re: Faulk's top 5 TE'S NO COOLEY!!!!!
My top 5:
Tony Gonzalez Antonio Gates Jason Witten Chris Cooley Dallas Clark |
Re: Faulk's top 5 TE'S NO COOLEY!!!!!
I went and looked at the stats from last year:
Tony Gonzalez over 1,000 yards 10 TDs Antonio Gates Less yards then cooley but 8TDs Jason Witten More yards and 3 more TD's then Cooley Dallas Clark Tied in yards but 5 more TD's then Cooley Owen Daniels More yards and 1 more TD then Cooley IF you go back to 2007 only Daniels stats are less the Cooley's so I'm not sure if he is really off the mark at all. I was very surprised to see Cooley only had one TD last year. With that said I love Cooley and what he brings to the field. |
Re: Faulk's top 5 TE'S NO COOLEY!!!!!
1- Tony Gonzalez
2-Antonio Gates 3-Chris Cooley 4-Jason Witten 5-Pretty much a toss up between Clark and Daniels. Clark scores more often and I think, has more experience. I'll go Clark. |
You don't think Daniels' is at least a decent blocker? I don't think he's any more of a liability as a blocking tight end than Cooley, personally.
Average is probably the better word. Sure he's not a liability, but he's not asset either. I don't think the same can be for Cooley who knows he needs to block for Portis to open up the passing game for himself and others. I think Dainels is a good TE who can stretch the field and is probably the best run after the catch TE right now, but if you ask him to block I don't think he's as open to it as Cooley. |
Re: Faulk's top 5 TE'S NO COOLEY!!!!!
People around here need to stop looking at everything through their burgundy and gold glasses. Daniels doesn't get a lot of press but he's every bit as good as Cooley is. He doesn't make the Pro Bowl cause he's got Gates and Gonzalez in the AFC. If Cooley were in the AFC he would never get picked over those two.

Daniels made the Pro Bowl last year. |
I think we will see more of Fred Davis that you think .. I think some sets of 2 TE's are in the near future .. Davis is a special player with great hands .. I love cooley but this kid needs a shot ... who says we can't have 2 TE's play a vital role in our offense ?? why the hell not ...
Davis is going to be on the field this year and I can't wait to see this guy. He was the best TE in football playing at USC. That's saying something. He will help in the red zone. |

Yeah but why? Cause there was a toe injury to Gates. |
Re: Faulk's top 5 TE'S NO COOLEY!!!!!
Can we ban anyone who uses more than 1 exclamation point? I can see a warning for 2-3, but more than that, automatic ban. ;-)

You think he refuses to block, or complains about it? Am I understanding you right? |
Re: Faulk's top 5 TE'S NO COOLEY!!!!!
SHOCKER...not. News flash, peoples top five is subjective. It usually is what that individual believes is his or hers top five...and most often it's their favorite players not based off of talent or statistics.
Also I'm betting he's making his judgement off of last yrs performance. Cooley's worst yr.
Actually last season was his best year as a Pro... he just didnt score any TD's (1), so no one noticed. |
Re: Faulk's top 5 TE'S NO COOLEY!!!!!
For what it's worth, here is Pete Prisco's top 10 list. Cooley is either 4th or 8th. Can't really tell:

He's going to block but he probably doesn't care about it as much as pass catching. In terms of all around talent at the TE position, I just think Cooley has an edge. |
