Anyone who wants out, be my guest. Don 't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya. I say if you don't want to be a Redskin then gtf out of dodge. We don't want you. Let's have a roster of guys who love the Redskin tradition and want to bust some NFC ass and let the other posers go play in Dallass.

I am again showing my armchair nature(this time at the league level)
but if everyone shows up, I wonder if they would investigate about us making them more required than optional. Just a thought.

Instead of your suggested conspiracy, I'm more inclined to think the team has done a great job assembling the kind of players who care enough about each other and winning to be there despite the "voluntary" label.

It also tells me that there is probably some good veteran leadership making sure the younger players understand how important OTA's are. I think you'd be hard pressed to find another team with every player except one in attendance for voluntary sessions. So I've got to tip my hat to our guys for that one.

See I believe that too, and I was not trying to suggest otherwise, only that if every one shows up, then the League may look more closely. I am really glad that everyone is there, and I would also expect that some bonuses are being earned by the high participation numbers.

I hope this all translates into great team camaraderie.

Yeah, I'd agree about the workout bonuses. They really are a win-win. The team gets more players at the park working on their conditioning, the playbook, and chemistry (which can improve chances of winning on Sundays), and the players get nice $$.
he is seriously on the wrong team to do that with what happened to ST.
What the hell??

Anyway, why would Landry want out? He is one of the highest paid safeties in the league and has done nothing to deserve a new deal. This is meaningless.

I think it is more embarassing that our head coach admits to the national media that one of his players is ignoring him.

Laron gets traded I will be pissed. I do believe that he does not like the way he is being used in Blache's scheme. He was complaing that we were no getting enough pass rush to help out with the interceptions. I do believe his natural position is strong safety not free safety. Landry is not a ball hawk, he is an enforcer that dishes out punishments causing fumbles. I really want to see how he would do with D. Hall the entire year and the addition of Haynesworth. I wish also that he does not want out of D.C.

Re: Landry is MIA

As much it would be nice for Landry to show up at OTAs, but just like some people said in the thread: it is VOLUNTARY activities.. And I'm absolutely certain that Landry is keeping in shape and all that stuff..

It's somewhat embarrassing when Zorn announces to media that Landry refuses to return his calls.. But it appears Zorn isn't only one who's "disappointed" in Landry..

(I'm not giving this as an ammo to Landry bashers, but just to show that Zorn isn't only one): Redskins' safeties coach Jackson calls out Landry - NFC East - ESPN

As a coach, not on the high level and just coach younger kids baseball, when a player doesnt show it is hard to go through what you need to.

... It's a voluntary workout!

Keyword there: Voluntary.

Re: Landry is MIA

This is nothing new with Landry they call it voluntary for a reason. The only thing he's missing out on is being with this teamates, people forget Springs and ST did this and they gave them a pass. That being said if Landry wants to become an elite FS instead of a good one, he should be here but that's his choice.
Im fine with players staying home this time of year. I'd rather they be there, but I feel like after a 16+ game season, your body takes a beating. Give it a bit longer to recover. All they do is lift or run.

However, there's no excuse to ever not call the coach back. I can not condone that. Always call the coach/owner/gm back immediately.
That is total bullshit. You make that kind of money to play a frigging game, you should make an all out effort to get in shape, and show up for any team functions that might help with team cohesion and shaking the off season rust off. 16 games is nothing compared to the NBA or the NHL. All this shows me is the guy isn't all that into winning. A non chalant attitude among your starters comng off an abysmal 8-8 season tells me we might not have much to look forward to in '09.

Well said and that is my point about my last comment. If the guy wants to be an elite level player he needs to show up, at least to shake some offseason rust off and get a jump before camp. These guys are being paid mucho $$$$$$$$$ to bring home a title and it would be nice if they showed that they want to actually do it. They guys who want to win do not jerk around, make any and all preseason/offseason workouts, and do a shitload on their own in the offseason(like LT, etc). If Landry is indeed doing some crap like LT and some of the other hardcore players, then maybe I could see not giving a crap, but this guy doesn't seeem hardcore.

Re: Landry is MIA

I seriously doubt Landry want out of DC. He is in a great city to live, a team with a great fan base, a consistent top 10 defense AND most importantly an owner who overpays everyone. Why in the hell would he want out? As for him ignoring the coach, I cant stand with that tactic at all...whats the point? Just disrespectful IMO
